I paid $115 and definitely worth it to me at that price. They kept the look very similar to the original Galaga '88 cabinet which made this a must buy.
Still waiting on my 75 dollar one. I knew it was made kind of cheaply compared to the newer countercade. But for that price I couldn't pass it up. Great game list. I may buy a lit marquee for it. Thanks for the review!
Hey PDub! Great review as always! 1st, I think every company has to have a bargain basement option...and this is definitely it. That's not a slight on the product, but (IMO) that's what we're looking at. The screen on it is what's really a drawback. Even a G4 iPad had a 9.7in screen...and that came out ~2016. Side art would have been an easy thing for them to improve too. I can understand the lack of light up marquee in this case (at this price), but going over $100, it should be a part of the unit too. I think this would be a GREAT buy for a gift for a kid this X-Mas. I'd have no loveloss with that. But for any adult, I'd say it's going to be prime to turn into a Franken-cade or just not worth it.
I grabbed one! Generally I think arcade 1ups are over priced. But you know what, you can't get a box for a rasberry pi like this shipped with art at 76. This is a pretty fantastic deal, and I'm surprised at the quality.
This gave me a great idea. I wonder if I could get some website to take the art on this machine and make a decal to put onto an actual machine, and then I take the board from this machine and get a life-sized Galaga 88 machine!
Just got a ised one with bad screen on ebay for $85. Found a new replacement screen for $20 from China (Chines-ebay). Hope everything else works. This should be the upgraded monitor that is IPS. Wish me luck
These older models are good but only if you can get for cheap. The old screen does start to bug you after a while despite the low cost. I am a fan of the countercades. A way better option for kids too instead of the overpriced babycade with a similar screen size. The bezel on this model goes really good with it during gameplay.
I bought one of these when it was almost $200, well worth money. The bezel is inaccurate in that the real Galaga 88 had no bezel art, just an all black bezal.
I really love this cabinet it looks great and while the monitor isn't the best it still looks great in my room love Xevious and Galaga but the others really surprised me since I never played the other 3 before till now and Gaplus has become my favorite to play on this machine well worth the 80$ I paid for it
hi from italy i buy Super pac man countercade 2021 and he have the light marqueè,after i buy TMNT countercade 2022 and he doesn't have it really dont understand how Arcade1up work. In europe this Galaga impossible to have maybe i will buy on ebay one day but i must pay import tax too bad.
In my opinion, this machine is an incredible, good collection but I was hoping to see Cosmic Gang The Video or Nebulas Ray instead of Xevious And then it would be Namco's galactic shooter collection games Good video 😉👍
75 bucks? They're asking £322.00, Amazon US, shipped to the UK. Glad I saw your review. I know it's a year ago but it doesn't justify the extortionate asking price. I nearly ordered it too. Talk about profiteering. 😂
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I was all ready to order the bl**dy thing too! Glad I checked out your video first.😉 I don't mind paying a bit more, plus import duties, but £320.00 is just taking the p*ss. I'm getting one from a U.S 'eBay' seller instead. Lovely little Arcade, I envy you, I really do.😠😉😁
I don't like the look of this countercade. It doesn't strike me as being an exact throwback to any overall design in particular. It just looks like crap. The game selection is nice, though. Not bad for the price. Is 76 bucks the bottom-line price without any gimmicks? What's the cash price?
Great review. Is there an 8-way joystick for Xevious? The Pac-Man with Xevious last year in a Partycade only had a 4-way joystick (which made the game unplayable).
Xevious is hard to play anyways, even with an 8 way stick. 4 way doesn't make much of a difference. I can still break 120k with a 4 way stick. later -1
@@negative1723 Truth. I have it both on this countercade and the partycade and frankly, I prefer it on the 4-way stick. More challenging and gives it a bit of a unique control scheme.
At the $150-$199 range, these things are too expensive. At $80, that is the sweet spot, and I'm willing to give up a lighted marquee and a screen with better viewing angle for the cost difference. I just don't really need those features for a device like this.
The MSRP is $149 on this product. Other 'Newer' Arcade1Up 'Countercades that retail for $149 include a Light Up Marquee, Headphone Jack, and Improved Screen. Less Value on this Unit vs. others at the same price. Because I purchased it for $76 on sale is irrelevant :)
In my opinion this was a steal at $76. I picked it up. Gaplus doesn't get near enough recognition. It's my favorite.
Agreed 👍 worth the $76
Picked one up brand new at a fkea market for 45. That's why im here

Great review. Love the game selection on this cab.

Good deal for the price you paid. Awesome game selection.
For $76, yes. For $149 I would've been very disappointed
What a great review, thanks buddy!
Thank you 👊 🤓
Good review pdubs. I've been eyeing a couple of the countercades but I'm losing space. The Defender partycade has me the most intrigued.
From what I've seen the Defender looks like a great purchase
I gotta ask, where did you get the pinball shirt.. i love it. thanks for these great videos, i think i'll be picking this up.
Got it off Amazon - here is a link

In your video no sped up Galaga? Can they update that with firmware? If not, why not???
No.
No.
Not wifi enabled, Arcade1up doesn't care what consumers want.
I just got one for Christmas. Are there any hacks like the Batocera hack for the bigger ones?
No hacks, you'll have to do a full gut mod

Any idea if this can easily be hooked up to Raspberry Pi to add games?

How hard would it be to flash the pcb to add rapid fire to Galaga? Does it have any usb inputs?
It's not possible

Not on this unit - you can do that on the 2 player Arcade1up countercades
I wonder if the pcb would work in one of the cheap 100 dollar Wal-Mart Ms Pac man partycades. Just swap it out. Somebody let me know. Thank you
Test it and let us know 😀
