60-yr-old grandma here! I had 3 of my 4 babies at home and my daughter-in-law just had a baby at home. I applaud you both for listening to your hearts and NOT listening to all the naysayers. I know that takes work. Home birth is a beautiful experience.

Thank you for normalizing home birth! I had four home births (with my incredibly supportive husband and intuitive, skilled midwives). There were so many beautiful, lovely things about being at home. It was quiet, peaceful, family-centered, gentle, and slow (in a good way). 10/10 would recommend!

Congratulations to you all!! Our fourth was a home birth and my labor was fast as well. Water broke in the church lobby and just over 2.5 hours later he was born with my midwife and husband alone in the living room. It was my favorite birth of any of mine, hands down, and I recovered WORLDS faster and had better attachment! It was so calm as well. So glad you all got a similar experience 🥰

Love it! I had two hospital births, and two home births. No comparison! Thankfully, hospitals have been pressured to conduct births as homelike as possible for those who choose the hospital, as my children later did. Now you have two beautiful children, a girl and a boy! You may have more in the future, and they will be blessed to have such loving, caring parents!

Congratulations. May they both be blessings. It took a lot of guts to have it at home. In my case there was suppose to be a completely normal birth but the umbilical cord ended up being around my first child's neck. These are the enexpected things that can happen that made me have both my kids in a hospital. We
waited so long for them I preferred to be as proactive as I could. Also you need to be calm and I was too nervous to do it at home. But God bless you and your little ones. ❤❤

We had our first two in a birth center, our third in our living room, our twins at the hospital simply because of our state law, and then my husband caught our sixth in our bedroom, and that was our favorite birth experience ever!! Congratulations on your precious son! 🤗

Congratulations! I chose a home birth, too, for my second - after a traumatic first birth, and the sheer amount of propaganda against something that is safer in a lot of ways, is insane. I actually wound up having to transfer right at the end, but it was still an incredible and wonderful experience.
Both labors were 40 hours.
The quality between them was night and day.
Ignorance breeds fear.
I’m SO happy for you that you stuck to your instincts! This is YOUR labor, mama - you should drive.

As someone who was born in a hospital with a permanent birth-injury disability, I can attest that giving birth in a hospital does not prevent bad things from happening.

I had a home birth after 2 C- sections. I knew my body could do it at home even though I(obviously)couldn't release a baby in hospital. (Talk about a lonely, stressful atmosphere!!)

I wanted to do a home birth, but I was nervous his shoulder would get stuck. Gave birth last week and that totally happened. Had multiple nurses and the doctor trying to get him out. The situation is incredibly dangerous for both the mother and her baby. A couple years ago I saw a video of a woman online that gave birth at home and she lost her baby because of this issue. Probably the main reason why I decided against it. Ended up being a good decision.
That’s definitely something to be aware of. Thankfully our midwives are very knowledgeable and skilled so when Thomas’s shoulder got stuck, she was very calm and was able to move him around enough to get his shoulder out. Stuck shoulders are not something to panic over as it happens often!

Congratulations on your beautiful baby!! I also had a home birth (after a horrible experience at the hospital) and staying home was the best decision I could have made! People are incredibly scared of home births but complications often come from things like staff shortage at hospitals.

I guess people trying to talk you out of it meant well, but it’s not like you did it on a whim or didn’t weigh up the pros and cons. I think what makes mama happy in the end is best.
