As a new content creator, shorts seem to be a GREAT way to gain several hundred new subs. However, I still think long form vids are more valuable to the key audience you build. I believe shorts will help push your content to new eyeballs more than long form, but long form will help keep people on your channel. Personally I'm gonna be shooting for 1-2 long form vids/ week and 3-5 shorts/ week on average.
I agree! I just started posting shorts and not sure how to do longer videos… I mean, I have no idea what to do longer videos on. Feels like a lot of pressure. I’m enjoying doing shorts :) I guess that’s all that really matters❤
Wow, that's impressive! 60 UA-cam shorts in 30 days is no small feat. I can't wait to see what the results were and how it impacted your channel. Keep up the great work! 🔥
Wow, this is truly impressive!I'm definitely going to take some tips from your experience and try to incorporate Shorts into my own content strategy. Thanks for sharing your journey and congratulations on your success!
For a very very small channel like mine, shorts is a game changer. I got 40 Followers with only 5 Shorts, which is a lot, considering I had 60 when I started shorts. I am concerned so, that shorts will be too dominant and take the spotlight of the rest of my content. I think you are right. You need to post both short and long forms consistently
Really inspiring video man. I have been doing UA-cam Shorts last six months, and what helped me the most was that I found out that you can give your videos (even the long ones) the initial dose of views and likes (I am using mostly Famester for this). This way you are always one step ahead of the algorithm.
Thank you for this. In my experience, the more shorts you Upload, the higher the chance of one of them being spread to the masses. I had a day where I uploaded only 1 and it flopped. Another day I uploaded 3 and 1 of them got over 1K views. Another day I decided to really test the limit and uploaded 9 in one day. Only 2 of them got over 1K views. Lesson, the sweet spot is somewhere between 3-5 per day. 9 might be overkill and 1 is DEFINITELY not enough so I think a good target would be 3-5 per day.
Thanks for sharing these results on your shorts! I'm always curious to see how effective shorts are for helping different UA-camrs build their channels. I'm trying to gauge how much time and effort to invest in shorts. Thanks again!
Thanks for the advice. I personally post shorts and some shorts gets a lot of views and some just stop at 20-30. Also, I noticed that at some point it just stops getting any views whatsoever :).. Glad you are doing well.
That is exactly what I have found out recently. I've posted about 20 shorts and about 12 of those shorts got over 1k shorts, one even got 2700. Then one day the views just dropped even though I was posting painting shorts that were as good as the ones that got the huge views, it is not about creating intriguing contents. It's about the UA-cam algorithm screwing with your mind. It has put me off doing shorts altogether!
I mainly post long-duration videos but posting shorts (even if I have only 3) helped me get subscribers and views. So it seems that dividing the time between long term videos and shorts can be a good way to boost your content.
@@gollum777 I was lucky and got 100+ on my first day, but the following days I got like 2-20+ only, but after my first week I got my first 1k views video. I followed the hype and that seemed to have skyrocketed the views that I got. On my shorts, it was hard for me to get views, but overtime it increased.
I have started uploading shorts more regularly since UA-cam has monetized them. I have picked up a few subscribers and a few of the shorts have done okay. Going to keep doing it to see how it goes.
The thing with most people, is they tend to have really short attention spans. 75% of my normal videos gets like 80 seconds of view time per view, so I decided to test out a couple of shorts videos, and I am getting at least 200 views, but for some reason, I've not gained one new subscriber from shorts. At least shorts doesn't take long to make compared to making 20+ minute videos, but shorts doesn't count towards our 4000 public hours. I think shorts should count towards the public hours view time, because we are still using the same channel accounts.
Definitely worth looking at. Our Mandarin channel has been playing around with a couple of shorts since October. One got almost 8k views and in January we had two more get around 1.8k views. Seems very random but we definitely saw a boost on the main content views so that's good. Plus a few new subscribers.
Very random indeed. I started doing YT shorts last couple weeks and have been experimenting. Posting like 4-8 shorts per day haha. May be too much. Cause most have 4-10 views while 1 in 4 vids get over 1k views. I got a handful of shorts with 1k-4k views. They brought in 70 new subscribers!
I’ve been posting 4 a day since the 26th of January, same time every day. 55k views and 145 subs so far! I can validate your point. I went from 382 for 527.
Just a tip, really focus on your studio stats for when your audience is online and post 15 or so minutes before the high time and during it. And quality over quantity, 2 good shorts at the right time will massively outperform 4 in sub par times
@@AsadDelRey I am! That's great to hear! Shorts can be a fantastic way to grow your channel and increase engagement with your audience. It's also great to hear that you enjoy making them. When you enjoy what you're doing, it often shows in the content you create, which can lead to even more success. Awesome case study, Mario! I agree with all your conclusions, I'm seeing very much the same results in all the channels where I've had the opportunity to get a "behind-the-scenes" look. Shorts for eyeballs, videos for connection. As you said, they go hand in hand. And I'm pretty sure that's exactly what UA-cam intended anyways.
Did you do all original content for those 60 Shorts? One tactic I've tried is using catchy clips from my long-form content. I'm not sure on the right ratio of original vs clipped content for Shorts, but it's much easier to get a lot of Shorts out there if you just reuse some of the content from your long-form videos. I'd be curious to hear your experience!
Just a couple tips, you coulda made this video 8 minutes then you coulda had mid-roll ads. You'll always make a lot less without mid rolls and you'll need to do more than 1 video real video a week if you want to grow your channel and make money. Good Luck!
Great video, Mario - and good experiment. Looks like you did this about 7 months ago, and now you've almost doubled your sub count - congrats! Would you say shorts contributed to most of that? Also, would love to see you talk about how you produce BOTH shorts on a regular basis and also release a long form video each week. I struggle with putting out a long video a week... the editing takes so long... maybe you can give me some pointers?
Hey and thank you! I would say Shorts contributed to roughly 20% of that. My long form videos are still what bring more subs. For sure! I'll add it to my last of videos to make! Stay tuned!
Shorts have helped my channel also to gain views and subscribers. But for long term long videos also have their own importance. So for new channels it's important to upload both types gracefully. Thank you for the valuable information.

YT Shorts provenly brings more view if the content is intriguing. Personally for me it also brings more subscriber. As Im worked up with my main job, yt shorts helps keeping my channel alive, despite its only 60second video, the amount of research, recording and editing took me around 5 hours to complete. If I could give an advice, Ill say dont stop doing what youre doing and if it doesnt change anything, you have to revise back to what really make it not interesting to others. Same as TT and YT, the 1st 3-5 second are crucial, you have to take viewers attention that time.
Hey Mario, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I loved your videos. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make highly engaging shorts for you to grow your business.
Thanks for sharing. I also started posting shorts recently, some are getting view and other just few people watching. Let me keep going, you never know. Thins will be alright
I would say make 2-4 shorts at the least every week or bi-weekly & make 1 full length video every week or more, up to you and your schedule. If you want the growth that’s my advice and what I am working on this week doing myself…….I’ve taken so many courses since starting this channel after I tried to brand my first channel 2.5 years ago, I did backwards and I lost my entire subscriber count/videos posted in a matter of milliseconds. It was heartbreaking but at the time I had another channel and just grew that one and monetized the middle of last year and been on a break since around Nov of last year. I know I am hurting my channel by this but mental health is more important to me at that time then to keep making videos on things I later found out I was completely unhappy making and the burnout is real and gets bad so I said I will take the necessary time off and figure out what it is I want to make or rather what do I like to talk about a lot and know enough about so the burnout won’t hurt me again. Keep it up everyone, this is your year. Remember consistency is key and if you can only make videos say every other week or whatever schedule you can work up is best so every time it’s the same day like every Thursday of every week say you go that route then post every Thursday around the same time if not schedule it for the same time. I use TubeBuddy and it’s a game changer for me, I do have the subscription now which helps me with keywords, seo, thumbnails, etc.
To all the small channels and creators out there looking to break through: Keep going… put in the work each day and good things will happen! You got this! ❤
I did at least one full length video and at least one short every day for 1 month.. it didn’t really generate the growth I had expected.. but boy o boy did I learn a bunch
thanks for sharing yr story bruv. i also started doing shorts recently. wowww... amazing... not so many subscribers, but it's nice to see the views blow up my channel a bit... one vid with 7.500 views etc... plus, they're easy and fun to do!
Thanks for watching! Yeah that's true. Way easier than long form videos and they do bring in the views and potential subs to your long form! Keep it up!
I started posting YT short videos a cupola months ago. The videos were doing well but now I’m getting 1 view and 1 like. I use the hashtags that describe what I’m doing. Idk what’s going on. I used to get 1k-2k views. It has dropped down tremendously. Idk what’s going on.
Idk what’s going on same problem with me on December 16 my views 17k that was the last high then it’s all less then 50views am really upset into going in short feed only it crazy 😮
Same here views all of a sudden dropped to less than 10 views my buddy and I posted the exact same video & title on our separate channels she got 2k views and I got 8 views. Wth is going on🤦🏽♀️
today I saw how much short are working, but I transferred them from my insta. I was inspired by new subscribers, and I can see analytics - they watch shorts, not yet my channel. But that is ok. Question: would it harm to upload 20 shorts in one day?
Yeah there is a lot of potential for growth. If you have a growing channel I would say go for it if you can sustain that. Otherwise I would schedule them and post them over time.
Love shorts, that blow my channel from 5-6k to 50k+ in a couple of months. And with that my normal videos watchtime went up too! And now with shorts monetization my income is growing too. Also fun to make shorts, I enjoy them a lot.
Your belief in yourself serves as the cornerstone, shattering the boundaries of what's deemed unachievable. As you produce exceptional content for your viewers, brace yourself for an explosive growth of your channel. Keep pushing, and the sweet taste of success shall be yours!
30 days is less - I have been posting 10 shorts daily on this same channel am using to comment for the 8 months now - my channel is now 8k subs up from posting shorts only- no long form content- and it takes time - at times my channel felt like it wasn’t going anywhere but the more you post - the more you have chance for your short to go viral- and it only takes one or two videos to explode and your channel will grow rapidly- it only took my channel two videos to go viral and my channel grew- yes my other videos were not bad but to grow with UA-cam shorts you have to post daily -10 shorts at least daily- then pray one of your shorts goes viral - and it happens for everyone- at times it might not be immediate but you have to be consistent-that’s my simple advice
@@MarioSoMedia -yes 10 is alot - but with shorts - if your shorts don’t go viral-the other alternative is ranking from search-which is 50/50 - I may bring in some subs but for explosive growth-you need to post 10 shorts daily to increase your chances of one of your videos making it to the short shelf and remember the video goes go viral forever- it can be hit like for a month which will give you subs and views but then die - and that happens with shorts -- I have seen some of viral videos just die - so 10 may seem a lot but remember you’re not the only posting and with the way UA-cam shorts works - if your posting one short daily and UA-cam doesn’t get an audience to serve that video too -that short never gets views -meaning no growth-but if am posting 10 shorts daily-chances are - out of the 70 videos I post a week - 10 will surely make it and help my channel grow - compared to someone posting one video- unless you want to wait 6 years to reach 1k subs - but in my case quantity lity will help you grow faster
@@WhatsOnNetflixNow Just a quick question, what time do you post them? Or you don't really pay attention to it. And also, do you post them straight after one another? Or you wait for some time

Hey Mario, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I loved your videos. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make highly engaging shorts for you to grow your business.
Thanks! I appreciate it. Not at the moment unfortunately but if the channel grows who knows 😉
Thanks for sharing. I also started posting shorts recently, some are getting view and other just few people watching. Let me keep going, you never know. Thins will be alright
Yes for sure! Best of luck!
I started with shorts channel a month ago. I had zero UA-cam experience. I got 150k views till now😊
Good video I've been posting frequently and this is motivating me more
Nice! Keep it up!
@@MarioSoMedia 👍👍
Especially for small channels shorts are a huge opportunity to grow 🙂
For sure!
Very helpful, thank you for the video!!
You're welcome! 😀
Thank you Mario for the info. Rooting for your channel❤
Thanks for watching! Best of luck to you too!
whoever is reading this,
all the small and new creators!, our time is coming!
Believe in yourself and keep up the grind💪💪
Thank you for the insight!
Thanks for watching!
To all the small channels and creators out there looking to break through: Keep going… put in the work each day and good things will happen! You got this! ❤
I’m trying to concentrate on shorts
🙌
I’m gaining subs fast with shorts and my goal is 100k subs by the end of the year 🎉
Nice!!
I did at least one full length video and at least one short every day for 1 month..
it didn’t really generate the growth I had expected..
but boy o boy did I learn a bunch
One day I will hit 1000 subscribers. Lezz go!
thanks for sharing yr story bruv. i also started doing shorts recently. wowww... amazing... not so many subscribers, but it's nice to see the views blow up my channel a bit... one vid with 7.500 views etc... plus, they're easy and fun to do!
Thanks for watching! Yeah that's true. Way easier than long form videos and they do bring in the views and potential subs to your long form! Keep it up!
Thank you for amazing update !
Thanks for watching!
Gonna follow your advice, at least 2 shorts in average each day, starting today. i will return in 2 months to let you know how it worked out for me :)
Cool let us know how it goes
@@MarioSoMedia Deal - from 0 subs and views :)

@MarioSo, thank so much for sharing your experience! I just created my very 1st UA-cam Channel and Shorts 🤗
Nice! Best of luck!
I started posting YT short videos a cupola months ago. The videos were doing well but now I’m getting 1 view and 1 like. I use the hashtags that describe what I’m doing. Idk what’s going on. I used to get 1k-2k views. It has dropped down tremendously. Idk what’s going on.
That's really odd. 🤔
Idk what’s going on same problem with me on December 16 my views 17k that was the last high then it’s all less then 50views am really upset into going in short feed only it crazy 😮
Same with mine!
I have the same issue...
Same here views all of a sudden dropped to less than 10 views my buddy and I posted the exact same video & title on our separate channels she got 2k views and I got 8 views. Wth is going on🤦🏽♀️
Keep up the grind and some day we will see sunshine!!🔥
Keep it up!
today I saw how much short are working, but I transferred them from my insta.
Everyone keep working hard we will get there 🙏🏾 also great video man keep it up 👍
Appreciate it
@@MarioSoMedia you’re welcome
the best time is yet to come😉
That's right!
good information
Glad you found it useful!
@@MarioSoMedia welcome
Love shorts, that blow my channel from 5-6k to 50k+ in a couple of months. And with that my normal videos watchtime went up too! And now with shorts monetization my income is growing too. Also fun to make shorts, I enjoy them a lot.
Nice! Congrats on that growth
Very nice video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I like how he blurred his income on one page but left it on another
😂😅
Your belief in yourself serves as the cornerstone, shattering the boundaries of what's deemed unachievable. As you produce exceptional content for your viewers, brace yourself for an explosive growth of your channel. Keep pushing, and the sweet taste of success shall be yours!
Well said!
Thanks for sharing your experience! And yes definitely consistency is key! 10 a day is a lot! Great job.
@@WhatsOnNetflixNow define daily. Please 🙏
@@WhatsOnNetflixNow Just a quick question, what time do you post them? Or you don't really pay attention to it. And also, do you post them straight after one another? Or you wait for some time
@@EddyTheLion It means everyday
Love the content
Great video!
I wonder what you think of the shorts on my channel? I am trying to upload at least one short per week.
I think to get some traction you probably need to do 3-5 per week if not one a day.
I'm new and not at 100 subscribers yet~ but I believe I CAN!🥰😇
Great stuff here. Keep it up everyone ❤️
🙌
That's damn interesting bro! Good job!😁

This is cool! Thank you for this video! It will definitely help out with my channel!

Do you have any recommendations to find editors? I need to make quality content but i hate editing and i cant seem to figure it out and dont have an eye for it
The more you practice the better you'll get. You can try up work or Fiverr
Hey Mario. I want to get my channel checked to see where I may be wrong. How is it possible?? Should i even continue making the same videos??
Try different strategies
Thank u for this informative video very useful I am a beginner on creating my channel I have high hopes and I’ve been consistent ever since jan.2023 and were in May so I hope hard work really pays off 🙌🏻
Good job man, I'm just starting this experiment. Filmed a bunch in a row and set a scheduling timer so roughly two will go out each day. We'll see
