Hugh Laurie is well spoken in real life. He's also a Cambridge University Blue, meaning he rowed in the winning Cambridge University boat in the annual Oxford v Cambridge University Boat Race in 1980, held annually on the River Thames in west London between Putney and Mortlake. He's also a talented pianist , saxophonist, drummer and more , and a good singer too.
I think the point about cartilage is that footballers usually have those bad injuries in their legs - so breaking a cartilage in the head is nonsensical (and possibly implies the Hugh Laurie character is a bit of a thicko...)
the thing about fry and laury is the skits quite quickly change and are really random and that makes them funnier because of the sudden character changes but watching just single skits you lose some of what made the show unique even though some of the skits are still awesome, that football skit was just thrown in with a sequence of short character changes to give it variety and it was mainly a reference to faking a foul but I think anything with Hugh Laury in is brilliant.
There's a clip of Graham Norton with Hugh as a guest, but he's probably been a guest with Jonathan Ross, Terry Wogan or Michael Aspel, Craig Ferguson, Letterman or Leno at some point.
They have a couple of really funny songs too, like Mystery, Sofisticated song or maybe Kickin' Ass. Poor Orin suffered a musical accident... as a boy...
I asked for it a couple of weeks ago so i think was me so im happy. Though I mentioned in the same comment that i was disappointed you'd only seen that barman saying innuendos sketch because i thought it was probably one of their least funny sketches so if you dont remember that bit it could have been someone else who suggested it as well but i still felt like it was a shout at to me so I'm happy.
A lot of Fry and Laurie's humour lies in the humorous ways they say stuff, but yeah, Laurie is so talented at looking stupid, man. That first fall requires some amazing coordination, and yet it looks like a deer that got shot in the anus mid-air.
I still use the pronunciation of 'Pre-meer League Foot-ballers' to this day. 'Run in the box and fall over' was well ahead of its time as a tactic in English Football, definitely all the rage now 🤣
Howdy-Hey, KB. Long time viewer, first time comment here; just dropping by to say I'm loving your work. Hope the new house is working out great. Big hugs to QB, PB, and the furry guys.
Your Magisterial Greatness! Why not check out Hugh Laurie's interview with Michel Parkinson, the one entitled 'Generations'. There is his real accent and also a few factoids of his earlier life and childhood. Around three to four minutes. Also Hugh Laurie at the 2006 Emmys with Helen Mirren.
Reminds me of the famous Nigel Owens line when refereeing a Rugby match - "Dive like that and come back in 2 weeks and play (when a soccer match was to be played). Watch it!"
Ipswich, which is somewhat and, by that I mean a *metric fuck distance* from London. There may be other comedic references to take up here. I can't be arsed, I need a pint.
This interview is from when Hugh’s first album came out so he sings as well. I saw him live twice. Great performances. ua-cam.com/video/wMmSWnZh0gc/v-deo.htmlsi=fSFXU7UybFzV1jk_
The cartilage snapped in his head
But you don't have cartilage in your head. Except for your nose.

Fry & Laurie are beautifully subtle.
Fry has previously said how good Laurie is at physical comedy, especially being punched.

Actually, they lost.
Their "The Bishop and The Warlord" sketch is up there with the greatest ever IMHO.
Hugh actually hurt himself with that dive. At least that's what he said.
'He played 2 games for Reading reserves in the 1970's'. The real goalkeeper in this period was called De'Ath!
His voice is basically George from blackadder but a bit less squeaky
Fry and Laurie have some great sketches.
I think the point about cartilage is that footballers usually have those bad injuries in their legs - so breaking a cartilage in the head is nonsensical (and possibly implies the Hugh Laurie character is a bit of a thicko...)
Oh one of my many watch sketches - just cheers me up 😂 …essentially a massive pisstake of football in UK 🤣
You should check out 'Jeeves & Wooster' with Fry & Laurie as the two main characters for which they are absolutely perfect.
Fry's Jeeves is bob on
Have you seen the sketch with Hugh reporting a crime to Stephen playing a policeman.
Superb.
This one!

Have you seen Hugh Laurie's ridiculously posh English public [private] school voice?
That's his voice.
This coach taught Neymar everything he knows
He is well spoken. Best place to see him talk naturally is on the Graham Norton show
Finally F&L, please do the oprah style talk show sketch and the “America” sketch. Trust me you’ll love them 😂
Laurie takes punch 👊 really well according to Fry in Blackadder 😂😅
Try Grahame Norton show
Hugh was on it.

I read that a cartilage snapped in his head.

Can hear his natural voice on the Graham Norton show.
They have a couple of really funny songs too, like Mystery, Sofisticated song or maybe Kickin' Ass. Poor Orin suffered a musical accident... as a boy...

There is A comedy connections episode (bbc documentary) for A bit of fry and Laurie which might show you them “Au natural”
You have to watch more fry and Laurie
A lot of Fry and Laurie's humour lies in the humorous ways they say stuff, but yeah, Laurie is so talented at looking stupid, man. That first fall requires some amazing coordination, and yet it looks like a deer that got shot in the anus mid-air.
😂 wtf was that sound? Reminds me of hitting two sticks together
A bit of Fry and Laurie was a great series. The last one with the guests was the lesser one but still fun.
I still use the pronunciation of 'Pre-meer League Foot-ballers' to this day. 'Run in the box and fall over' was well ahead of its time as a tactic in English Football, definitely all the rage now 🤣
"Wasn't it ...wasn't it...Monk D'Wally de Honk?"
When saying English words too correctly can get too much 😂
My favourite Fry and Laurie sketch - Berrents Cocoa!
…with nature’s added store of powerful barbiturates and heroin. Classic!
From A Bit Fry and Laurie try 'The red hat of Pat Ferrick" and 'The Day I Forgot my Legs"
Becoming a wuss!? Either that, or becoming more powerful that you'd EVER IMAGINED! Careful what you do with those fingers.
This is one of my favourites from a bit of fry and Laurie
Absolutely love A bit Of Fry & Laurie, still got the dvd's ☺
You might consider Jeeves and Wooster, they're wonderful
Huw has been on graham norton a couple of times, those chats are well worth a watch
cartilage injuries were very common footballer injuries, but in the leg not the head
I think he said "cartilage snapped in his head" 🤔
For more Fry and Laurie I would suggest the Prize Poem, or Hugh’s interview with Michael Jackson.
Hugh looks like Mark Heap here.
Great video 👍 Look out for Jeeves and Wooster 😂😂😂
So you listened to this guy , maybe he should of told you to watch Toast of London !
Howdy-Hey, KB.

I think he's doing a perfect Ipswich accent here :-D Which isn't in East London. Funny.
Nice to see you still going fella watching our stupid humour, peace to you and fam ❤
This could be a documentary because the fall in the box is EXACTLY what the so called professionals do.
Oh KB , to a football loving fan this was both funny and makes you angry because there might be some truth in it .
Try Hale and Pace.The binmen.
Plenty of chat shows to choose from, he's been, pretty much on all of them...
Reminds me of the famous Nigel Owens line when refereeing a Rugby match - "Dive like that and come back in 2 weeks and play (when a soccer match was to be played). Watch it!"
Please react to interviews with Stephen Fry
Ipswich, which is somewhat and, by that I mean a *metric fuck distance* from London.

I can't be arsed, I need a pint.
Yeah, that whole Fry intro was full of nonsense.😊
Boomer, have you checked out A Bit Of Fry And Laurie Hardware Store sketch?
It's one of my favourites.
Check out Avenue Five, Hugh Laurie is brilliant.

Man City next coach once pep goes lol
Ipswich was never in London when I lived there, maybe progressive politics moved it south
Or maybe it was just a joke that flew over your head. Let's apply Occam's razor, shall we?
moronic comment I'd say.
Please do a reaction series to This Country or People Just Do Nothing, I'm begging you!
Are you pregnant? Not criticising, I look worse when slouched in the chair, but...
