    About I’m on Vacation:
I'm on Vacation is about freedom. Freedom from responsibility. It's an "out of office" auto reply on your work email. It's a beer on a Tuesday at lunch just because the weather is nice. It's a laissez-faire mindset. Throw caution to the wind, because anything can happen when you’re on vacation, and nothing else exists but the present moment.
Bradley and Margaret McCoy have made their home in New Orleans and are living this "I'm on Vacation" mentality. From dancing in the streets in full costume during Mardi Gras to buying a vintage houseboat to travel down the Mississippi River, there’s no telling where they will end up next.

Hey, just fyi: instead of turning left off back water canal into bayou John, you could have kept going south down back levee canal. Eventually, after just a few miles opens up to bays. You then can navigate north and east into biloxi marsh and or black bay. Thus avoiding getting stuck on mud flat in bayou John. Continuing down back levee canal into open water you could continue to dope boat and eventually , within 20-30 miles, even intersect where mister go is coming down southerly into Gulf of Mexico. I have fished this area 100’s of times and have traveled from point a La hache to hopedale by water and back in a single day fishing trip. Granted in a bay boat, so with different options than your party boat. However, the open water way, though longer, is a viable path for you to follow. Ps. Get a map and check it out. Wishing you safe and fun travels and adventures. Enjoy your documentary. Best to y’all!

Thanks for sharing this great information. Wish we would've known you when we got stuck. My concern with going that direction was heavy winds were predicted and we didn't want to get caught in the waves in open water. You can see how aggressive the waves got just at Johns Bayou in the next video. A few episodes later, we show how we got out and the route we took to get back.

What an adventure! These will be memories you look back on and chuckle about getting stuck.

We already laugh abt it. 🤣 Just feels like the trip wouldn't have been the same without the extended adventure. It takes a couple more turns too.

Imagine all the good farm soil in the marsh.... Due to unsustainable farming practice & other erosion reasons. If ya'll could return it.....Ha

Why not leave the river easbound on Batiste Colette, just a mile north of venice, cross breton sound to the gap in the rocks, into MRGO, north to ICWW, west to industrial canal, north to the marina. On a wind from the northeast, breton sound can get a little rough, no more than 4 to 6 feet, the closer you get to the rocks the less sea.

That was essentially the main option we were considering, but our boat can't handle anywhere near those type of waves and the weather forecast was not favorable. You can see the wind bending the trees as we entered Mardi Gras Pass.
