I haven't seen this since the late 90s. When my sister and I were little, we watched this at my late Grammy's house. When the mouse drank all the juice, she said, "He's really going to have to go tinkle, huh?" She said something like that; I remember her saying that. Thank you for posting this video. Brings back memories.
1949. This cartoon is as old as me. Still fun and funny. I've seen it in theatres, at drive-ins, and much much later, at family pizza parlors. We'd all sing along with the bouncing ball. Everyone. Young, old, didn't matter. It was fun! And it brought all of us together, just for a while. I miss those days. Thanx so ver much for sharing this little gem! Happy Holidays, Everybody!!! Shine on, Shine on . . .
awww I miss these cartoons. I know they came out much earlier, but this brings back my 90s childhood, staying up late to watch these on Cartoon Network. My father would leave for work around 330 am and fuss because he could see the light from the tv on in my room. It was either watch this or TV Land.
Today people talk about loving nature, animals etc. But we rarely get to see kiddo shows thats intune with nature. As a kid I watched many of these cartoons which had farms, animals etc, the pre 2000s era of vhs. Post that the kiddo shows were all about materialism. I used to just watch these cartoons and just think about farms, animals and then draw them thus my love for nature started early. With the kiddos around me now I show them these cartoons instead of the kids show nowadays and they actually love it
Absolutely the same (yes I see now this comment is 4 years old), we had a portable tv/vhs and on a multi day trip I would watch this on repeat, and my parents let me. I play it for them every year on the harvest moon (today), first time I started it they were in the other room and they heard the wind whistling and my mom quickly came in and was so excited I finally found a video of harvest time!
We used yo have it on vhs too those were the days. Now I am trying to continue with the legacy with my kids. I want them with the same childhood I had. Classic stuff
Finally found it and lookin for more of the old cartoons just like this … does anyone remember when all the cartoon books use to have characters pop out of them and they would do funny stuff ?
Yet Wikipedia and UA-cam are they key to showing this to Millenails and generations to come, even this is history in the cartoon business and American resource festival known as harvest moon
I had this and many other old cartoons on tapes when I was a kid. I could remember the chorus, but not much else. I'm happy to see it once again, thank you for uploading this!
I can't remember what vhs would've had this short, but I was born in 93 and remember watching it often. Last time was around or before the age of 9. I remembered it suddenly because my boyfriend had an old timey radio mix playing. The memory hit me like a freight train, I would've never guessed the video, which has color ( probably remastered), was made in 1949!! My grandmother was 11, and my grandfather was 19, respectively! Thanks SOOOO MUCH for the memories!❤❤
Just watched it tonight, with my 9 year old, since it's the Harvest Moon 🌕 want him to grow up with a classic, like I did. Soon we will be watching The Great Pumpkin. Bought that whole Charlie Brown set last year. Makes me feel autumnal 😊
I've had this in my head the last few weeks. I remember watching this on a VHS at my Aunty Anne's apartment in New York when I was younger. Takes me back to simpler times
I grew up watching these old cartoons at my mammaws and at my parents as well growing up in the 90’s, to me back then fall was wonderful. hayrides, sorghum festival every year on our family farm and people from all around (who now have passed away) would bring their horses and mules to pappaws and would help run the sorghum mill and make molasses in the cooker, there was horseback riding cooking beans and cornbread over a fire and it went on all day long. Night time came we’d sit around the fire and I’d listen to my grandparents and great grandparents tell stories til I fell asleep in mammaws lap. So when I watch these old cartoons I think of those times always and will never forget the better days and better times.
Love this cartoon! Still sing this song. Every year its the first one I watch when it starts to get cooler and harvest moon time. Then the Halloween movies and cartoons.
I grew up in the 90s and had this on VHS and have been looking for it for YEARS but didnt know what it was called. Really surreal watching it now haha. Thanks for the upload and nostalgia blast!
I remember this cartoon from a Mickey Mouse VHS tape with "The Mad Doctor", "Minnie's Yoo-Hoo" (Sing-Along) and "Small Fry" with the "Noveltoon" intro.
@@cassandrarousos3555 Yes, we did. We sang along in theaters, and even at drive-ins! And in later years, we sang it along with the tv, and in family pizza parlors. Shine on! (edit for typo)
what a memories,,this were the times that i do not think anything aside to eat and play outside,,i miss my childhood,,right now I'm too much busy working
I'm so happy to see this! I loved this particular cartoon/song when I was a kid, and the ever hard to find "Oh! Mama!" that was a bouncing ball tune also!
i din't speak english back when i watched this cartoon on vhs, but i loved the song so much that i would rewind the tape just to hear it again. love tht group singing and the effect the vhs quality has on it.
I loved this cartoon/song. We had a VHS of like a compilation of cartoons with this and Mighty Mouse on the cover I think. I was born 1989 and we watched it at my grand parents house. There was also Little Lulu, and some others on the same tape or similar.
Because those particular kinds of animals were needed to process those particular kinds of foods. An elephant was needed to stomp the grapes, and a beaver's flat tail could carry a lot of things at once. A pelican's big mouth, and a kangaroo's big pouch could also carry a lot of things at once, or even carry large things. And, of course they used a skunk to handle the stinky limburger cheese. Besides, it was fun to see all the different animals pitching in to harvest the food. Shine on!
Omg ... finally!!!!! I been looking for this like for 3yrs. Lost this vhs and felt bad because i could find it nowheres... Aww..brings back good memories!!!!! Thank u for posting!!!
It's actually based on a short piano piece by Robert Schumann from his Album for the Young (Album für die Jugend), Op. 68. The piece is called Fröhlicher Landmann, von der Albeit zurückkehrend ('The merry peasant', returning from work or 'The Happy Farmer')
I can't believe I finally found this! I had this as a child on a VHS tape that my grandmother had given to me. The VHS tape is long gone, and I've been searching the internetz for years to find it without remembering exactly what it was called...I only knew the song was "Shine On Harvest Moon." Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!! I just recaptured some of my childhood!
Childhood memories!! 🥰🤗📼 I had this on vhs, it was on Donald duck and friends. I loved the whole tape!! I don't even remember what happened to the tape, it's been so long ago. Watched it so much the cover to the tape was falling apart lol. I would love to have it again.
oh my goodness, childhood flashbacks :) it was this vhs and a mickey mouse one that had a mad scientist that stole pluto or something but either way i just got high off of nostalgia :D
The mad doctor? ,What one did you have I had a VHS one but it never had mickey and sadly it was around the time I thought mickey was for babies but I love him so much

Looking for it since I was 7! For 15 years!
I have a playlist of the old seasons vhs sing along on my channel!
I have for 3 minutes. But i have seen this around 2 decades ago.
Why do I suddenly remember this and look it up after 23 freakin years.
I guess for the same reason I looked it up after 50 friggin' years.(Chuckle!)
Same here, lol.
KahrylBlack I did that myself
Me too! I haven't thought about it for so long and the name Farm Frolics suddenly popped into my head pmsl

Anyone else wondering what the hell kind of farm has a kangaroo, a porcupine, and an elephant?
And a pelican, a beaver, a turtle, a stork and a skunk
I wonder that as an adult just as much as when I was a kid.
