If beef farmers cease beef production, the factories will just expand their feedlot systems that they operate, or use the glaring loophole in the importation of foreign sides of beef, deboning it and packaging it as Irish in their plants here
100% true, when farms advanced in scale prices declined and brexit compounded the problems, if a beef farmer cant convert to dairy its more profitable to put land into forestry, in no other industry except beef does the operator lose money after their work, the meat processors have the farmer screwed yet they cannot be tackled, its time we stood back from this non- sense talk about carbon footprints and sluggish markets, support the beef man with a good product, when we wont have it local we"l ask why not
