Dio was the king of vocalists to me from the first time I ever heard him as a teenager, and for decades thereafter. But I must admit, Glenn Hughes has actually surpassed him in the past couple of years in my book, which funny enough started with his short stint in the Dead Daisies of all places, which led me to going back and relooking his discography of work. This was the song that did it for me (ua-cam.com/video/-MAr_rh1SG4/v-deo.html), it practically blew my socks off when I first heard it. I can't think of a deeper, more soulful vocal performance by anyone, ever, quite frankly... his delivery is astonishing! 🔥🤘
Hi Richard, I really like those Deep Purple albums that feature Glenn Hughes. Stormbringer is my favourite. I didn't hear you mention Trapeze. I don't have anything by Trapeze but I've always been curious. I quite fancy getting some of their stuff but it is always so expensive whenever I see it. I don't have any of his solo albums that you show here, but I do have three LPs by the project he was involved with called Phenomena. Do you know that project? It is a little too AOR for my liking, but Glen Hughes is all over them so I revisit them now and again just to see if they will grow on me.
Hi there John.I think i did mention Trapeze, will check. I forgot about those Phenomenon albums, the first is pretty good. Just blows my mind how good his voice still is all these years later.
@@richardfilmer616 Actually you did mention Trapeze close to the start. My mistake. Do you have any albums by Trapeze? Like I said, I am curious about them. If I splash out on any of their music I'd want it to be an informed choice.
@@johnbellamy3406 I have a couple on cd and two on vinyl. The ones to get in my opinion would be,Medusa and You Are The Music...We Are Just The Band.Hughes left after the third album i think. The first album was a bit of a hit and miss, still finding their sound.
So glad we saw him at the kings of chaos concert grandwest 2007 i think it was. He was on top form
Goosebumps when he sang Mistreated.
Voodoo hill…. Great band, you introduced me to it…
Couldn't think of the bloody name ! I blame old age 😂

Dio is right up there for sure,Hughes though as you say has just got better with age.
And he was a guy with some serious demons.
Not easy doing a Marriot track, superbly done. Thanks for that clip, hadn't come across it.
@@richardfilmer616 Ja, that's right, it's a Steve Marriott / Humble Pie cover, Marriott is criminally underrated! 🤘
