If you missed it , there was another bonus chapter (#345) this morning as a thank you to you ladies and mentlegents for your generosity. ua-cam.com/video/e6LTU67kG2Q/v-deo.html
I absolutely love how the first story isn't strictly about humanity itself, but an aspect of us expressed in another species. I'm pretty sure that we would've gone through with Orion if it was our only way up. Alternatively, I think it would be hilarious if it turned out that nuclear propulsion was an expected stepping stone, and we had to explain the entire cold war and why it resulted in the technology being banned.
I remember watching a documentary about the space race that talked about the Orion drive. One of the engineers interviewed said the only thing that stopped the program was the military wasn't willing to give up any of it's warheads. Six thousand warheads and they wouldn't give up the ten needed for the test program 😂
I would like to ask a question... who is crazier? The people who use nuclear detonation propulsion out of necessity, or the people who considered and designed it just for fun? P.S. The first man made object was put into space by nuclear detonation.... if it didn't burn up while leaving the atmosphere..... a USA manhole cover. If I remember right a calculation was made that put its speed *at least* 6 to 7 times escape velocity.
I do like the Mad Lads. Too often I have found I couldn't hang with em, but I do like em. I am older now, so when I see them taking off, I just give a head nod, and wistfully remember the days where I did.
“So...human Jerry...isn’t unit QB6E2185 usually used in Kora’x’al - designed beverage dispensers? “Yea, why?” “Why the sierq is it used in 83% of your weapons?” “...”. “If it works, it FUCKING WORKS”
Very, _very_ late to the Q. It's not so much about size, but about mass. A planet double the size but with the same mass as earth would have only 50% of earths gravity.
I was beginning to wonder, before mention was even made of the plate on the ship's bottom, if they were gonna do the nuke launch thing. Iirc it was a theorized method of space launch we actually considered in the past, but we never did it for obvious reasons
I saw it coming too, because I’ve seen videos speculating whether our first space object was basically a giant manhole cover (actually a giant plate over a test site), or if that object was actually atomized. Slow motion footage exists apparently, but only a couple of frames have the plate in it, it disappears so fast it can be argued either way.
So, I'm trying to find the story about how Humanity is the only species that actually has bomb disposal teams, but I can't find it. HFY Bomb/Bomb disposal/bomb defusal only sends me back here...
Please do some research on greenhouse gases historically the earth has had far higher CO2 contact and its atmosphere sometimes so high that no human could survive. Technically speaking CO2 is it low levels worldwide for the plant life to thrive plant life would be much healthier if they were higher CO2 levels do a little scientific research

Hahaha yea humans found their spiritual brothers in that first story
Orion drive for the win 🏆

This story is better every time. I keep finding myself cheering, "GO BABY GO" and just being so ... PROUD... of a fictional race that built Orion.

Alien: You did what with that tech?!?! Inconceivable!
Human: I do not think that word means what you think it means. Also, why not?
Glad to finally have a story about project Orion!! Loved it for a sci fi concept for a long time!
Boooom-chuka-chuka - SPACE!
They did it in Footfall with the Michael. Also heard one earlier with a human ship using it on a cargo transport
Now that's what i call rocket jumping!
“So...human Jerry...isn’t unit QB6E2185 usually used in Kora’x’al - designed beverage dispensers?

A fucking Orion drive. I love it XD
:)
These stories make me wonder what all these alien planet would be like. How big are there planets if earth is big
Very, _very_ late to the Q. It's not so much about size, but about mass.
A planet double the size but with the same mass as earth would have only 50% of earths gravity.
I just knew that they'd be riding a mushroom cloud into orbit...
For the Author(s), for the narrator Agro Squirrel, for the algorithm !!!

Praise the nuclear yacks.
HAHAHAHA, called it! Orion Drive
chitty chitty bang BAAAAAAAAANG
Thank you for the reading
Xeno council: They are completely Mad!
Humans: we must greet them, shake hands, buy them a beer and plot how to yeet each other to the next dimension.
Missed the live stream again, damn
always tomorrow

There's this one and one other I can't remember.

@@isaackinsley1662 Thanks! Although I think the other one neither of us can exactly remember is the one I'm looking for...
keeper going
For the Algorithm ,For the Author(s), For the Disembodied voice! For the Squirrel 🐿
Hell Yeah ride that fire ! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO.
For the algorithm five words minimum.
For the algorithm
the mad lads rocket jumped with nukes
For the Algorithm, For the Author(s), For the Disembodied Voice!
For the algorithm
you have the wrong stories in the description
corrected
Aaaarg. Kilos are mass, not weight.
100⁰c? Not ⁰f?
If you are going to use Orion why such small bombs?

I know it's two years old, but remember, it's a reddit story. That site is not exactly a font of scientific knowledge.
