How to Change a Lightbulb Inside a Recessed Shower Light

- Despite the fact that I usually post train videos on this channel, I like to throw in a couple of how-to videos every now and then. Btw, I know the video is a bit long. The reason for that is because my camera tripod would not remain steady on the ladder and the angling was a bit off. Additionally, there was no one home to help me film, so doing a lightbulb change for this type of fixture is challenging one-handed. I tried clipping as much unnecessary footage as I could out of the final video, so this is the end result.
This may appear like the common household shower light; however, if you remove the cover, it is a different story. Here are some of the fixture's details: the maximum bulb wattage is 25 watts; the cover consists of more glass, slightly thinner trim, and a flatter outer surface; the socket is in a metal can attached directly to the reflector; the full can has wires sticking out from it. For many years, no one was able to figure out how to change the bulbs until I managed to do so in May 2019.
The bulbs present in the video were a 14 watt Panasonic Warm White CFL bulb (initial bulb) and a 9.5 watt General Electric Daylight LED Bulb (new bulb). The difference between the two bulbs, as you can see, is very evident and thanks to the bulb change, the bathroom has been brightened fully.
With that being said, that will be all folks. If y'all have any questions, go ahead and ask away. Also, if you like the video, do not forget to like, comment, subscribe, and share the video with everyone you know! :D - Навчання та стиль
Now I do know how to changing the Light bulb for my shower room! I am so appreciated for the step-by-step replace episode. So helpful
Thanks so much for this video. I bought a whole fixture kit because it never occurred that it was only the bulb that needed to be changed. This was a Godsend. 😂
This was so helpful and less intimidating. Your voice is comforting lol thanks!
I just read this comment lol. Glad I helped!
Thanks for this vid. Moved into our home a few yrs ago and haven't had to replace the lights above the showers in either bathroom. I was able to get it to the point of having the whole unit hanging below the recess/hole, but couldn't figure out how to get the bulb out. Searched through quite a few videos before I found yours which showed it plain and simple as to turn the 'can' until you can lift it from the ring. The rest is history. Thanks a bunch

Thanks, this was just what I was looking for. Very helpful!
This is great, I just don’t know how you did this one handed. I am going to give this a super duper try tomorrow in our shower. Thank you.
Excellent and very helpful video!! Much thanks!

It’s awesome tutorial. Thanks
Was very useful, thanks 😊
Thank you. Wasn’t so bad like I thought.
UPDATE: Apologies for the long intro, people. I tend to drag things out longer than they should be at times, but I am glad that you find the video to be helpful. I try, I try.
Very helpful. I was worried I'd break it.
awesome video! =}
My issue is that I have a dam textured ceiling in the master bath which makes pulling the fixture away from the ceiling difficult - without damaging the ceiling.
Thanks!
3:35 Also, thank you. This helped.
Please give description on new bulb and where to purchase 👍
I purchased the bulb from my local Lowes
thanks internet dad
Thanks! 6mo into brand new construction and almost half of the bulbs are flickering 😠
You just saved a fat guy from bailing off his ladder.
Ha ha glad to help man
This is great. But warm white always looks better than cool white. 😊
Appreciate the kind words. I've always been a cool white kinda guy, But I see your point. Warm white is easier on the eyes
I need some help man... Mine didnt have latches, it was being held on by the lightbulb & friction. I don't know what to do here.
send a video clip of the light to my email. You can find it on the about tab on my channel.
@@AaronTheEagle1 No worries, seems like my shower had a reaaaaly old recessed light trim, I went to HD and got one just like the one you use, it fit just fine on the housing unit so i'mm all good. Appreciate the help though!
Video starts at 3:35 you're welcome
My question is how do you get into the shower stall up there. My shower rods in the way.
You’ll have to remove the shower rod in order to access your light.
I use 5000K almost everywhere in my house
Ah, cool! I like the crisp appearance of the daylight bulbs and so does my family, so same.
Boy, this guy loves to talk and not tell you anything you could shorten this video by about eight minutes if he just get to the point.
I clipped out a lot of the fluff from this video. Plus, it's not easy to do this one-handed. Keep your shorts on.
