    Dan, I've watched and re-watched your Suwannee River videos (all 5 of them) more times than I care to admit, thanks for bringing us along (vicariously of course) on each your paddling trips. Looks like a great time was had by all.

      Thank you so much (for every view)! :) It really was a great time. We had a lot of miles to cover, but it was all great! Looks like you have been in several different canoes! I'm looking forward to checking out your vids!! Thanks again!!

      @@SouthernPaddler I don't paddle a wide variety of rivers or lakes, so I love to change things up by paddling a variety of canoes (and the occasional kayak). Videos were initially for my re-enjoyment on those stormy windy days when I'm landlocked, but hopefully watching great content like yours will help me get better at it.

    One of my dad's favorite sayings is, "You do dumb stuff when you're tired!" Thankful that no one was hurt when that tree came crashing down!
    This looks like an awesome adventure! Can't wait to see the rest of the video series!

      Yes! Tired...and a little bit hurried. The second part I could have dealt with a little better. We had headlamps, but lesson learned! Thanks Brad!!

    Thanks for making this!
    I'm considering a solo-paddle of the Suwanee with my 90-lb mastiff-mix this February.
    Your videos will serve as necessary reconnaissance.😊

      Awesome!! Other than the mandatory portage at Big Shoals (some do run it), you shouldn't have any issues. I think most of the river camps require reservations, but they all of them are great places to stay! And February is a great time to do this river. Very little boat traffic that time of year. I hope you get to do it and thanks for the kind words!!

      Thanks- and me, too! I'd have really felt bad if I got someone else hurt! I just got a little careless! Lesson learned!!

    Hello Dan? I don't know how I missed this. But look like a good trip on the water that is. I am really really glad man that you didn't get hurt when that tree Fell down Man. That is sad about Losing a kayak on the way to the water. But At least the weather was good. Looking forward to part 2 man. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this.

      Hey Mack- no problem, buddy! Yes, I was very fortunate that no one got hurt when that tree fell...and that damage was minor! It definitely stinks about the lost boat, buy our crew handled it well. Thanks, friend!!

    Hello Dan, amazing adventure with a great bunch of people. Interesting nature, well-chosen music, and your storytelling are very engaging. What about the lost ship? Did you find it? David PT

      Thanks so much, David. No, sadly we did not find the boat. We assume someone picked it up off the road shortly after we lost it. :(

    Beautiful. My aunt used to have a house on the Suwannee River in Suwannee about 30 years ago. Loved it there.

      That was my first time in Suwannee and it's a cool town. If I hadn't just paddled 220 miles I would have enjoyed paddling all the canals there. We had a great time!!

    Amazing how the scenery is so different just being a state over (GA) on the Suwanee.
    Sorry to hear about the boat who wanted freedom. That's a big hit.
    How did your solar panel do keeping things topped up on that longer trip?

    • @SouthernPaddler
      @SouthernPaddler  9 місяців тому

      Yes, one of the things I noticed about the Suwannee is the ever-changing landscape. It's really cool to see. The solar panel worked great! The last 2 days were cloudy and I almost ran low on batteries, but the solar panel is a must for me for multi-day trips!!

    I'm going to have to backtrack and find out what section of this river we paddled. Looked nothing like this. State of FL had screened in raised platforms to camp on. It was nice but cold as the dickens on our trip. Wind blowing hard at us the WHOLE paddle 😑

    • @SouthernPaddler
      @SouthernPaddler  9 місяців тому +1

      Yikes!! We had head winds most days, but not all day every day. The only tail wind we had was the last day (thank the Lord)! We stayed a two river camps (Woods Ferry and Adams Tract). Woods Ferry will be in the video coming out Saturday.

    I know it's early in the series, but I'm curious, were you able to make it 9 days on the rations you left with in your boats or did you have to restock? Thanks! Nice video!

    • @SouthernPaddler
      @SouthernPaddler  9 місяців тому

      Yes, I had plenty of food (and some left over) of what I brought. We did hit a couple of restaurants/stores, but out of convenience and not necessity. And that junk food I bought on the trip was spot-on!! :-D I brought 2 gallons of water and was able to re-fill at campgrounds a couple of times. I used my Sawyer filter once on some spring water- it was WAY better than Florida tap water...lol!
