I'm really liking the reviews, I'd be curious about what your thoughts are on the Great War mod for Napoleon Total War. I remember trying it when it first came out and being very disappointed with the battles, not sure how much it's changed since then. Keep up the great work!
@@ChaseUens I don't remember the campaign being the problem, it's just that the AI would charge in battle without any idea of how to fight in WWI fashion, which makes sense because they are hardcoded to fight in 19th-century line formations.

Q: In custom battles or multiplayer the unit selection is missing units. A: All of the regionals cause a problem for the custom battle / multiplayer list. There is a special EDU for custom battles / multiplayer in the "...Rome- Total War\EB\mp custom game edu" folder. Rename your campaign EDU then place the EDU from that folder into the "...Rome - Total War\EB\Data" folder. When you want to play a campaign again, switch back to your original EDU. EB v1.1 now comes with the trivial script, which will automatically switch the files for you. To play custom battles or multiplayer battles with all of your factional units, run the "Play Multiplayer" option of the trivial script. -From the EB FAQ I mean, you probably don't plan to upload another video just for a custom battle, but still that's what was going on in case anyone wondered
A few big differences you didn't go over: Units/Armies are costs are much higher in this game. Upkeep and Recruitment will affect your Economy greatly. Economies are harder to build. Mercenaries are extremely expensive, practically not worth it. Ships are ridiculously expensive, but definitely worth it. Conquering far-away lands are a bitch, because you can't restore your depleted armies that can only be recruited in your homelands. Characters and character traits are a big deal. They make a huge effect in the game. For example "Hale and Hearty" will give your general +3 hit points. There are some mining traits or retinue that will give you extra 30% mining income. Mining is a big deal in this game. Takes like 20 turns or some ridiculous amount but it is well worth it. Some settlements have special buildings that can be destroyed for a large sum, but many times are worth keeping. Certain settlements give you special troop units. For example 1. You can get CRETAN Archers in only Crete, Syria, and a few other settlements with a Type 4 gov't building... (i think u need type 4, it's been a couple years since I played this game.) These bitches are OP when you ship them to fight against barbarian nations. 2. Thracia has very cool unique units such as - Galatian Heavy Spearman and also those dudes who hold a large ass sword with 2 hands... Thraikioi Rhomphaiaphoroi (Elite Thracian Infantry) BATTLE MECHANICS Your control has to be much better in this game. For Example, Calvary will not charge properly unless you line them up and properly face them in the direction of your charge. Another big one- if you order your infantry to attack a group, but the AI charges a different enemy group at your unit, your unit will not do a good job of attacking this enemy group even though they are engaged in battle with each other. You must actually order your own unit to attack this new group of units that are engaged with your unit. Fatigue is a HUGE factor. And many units fatigue quickly, especially the heavy/armored units. Flanking makes a big difference. Units take a much longer time to die. Infantry vs infantry takes forever... this is when you use cavalry to rout them with a charge and easily clean them up. Calvary is the difference between a long battle and a quick one. Calvary actually does make a Great difference... especially for Clean Up. The difference between a close victory to possibly battle again versus a decisive victory to not have to battle again. Must hurry in late-game Sieges or you will run out of time. However, I like to have a timer, because it gives me an advantage if I'm heavily outnumbered whether it is a siege or a pitched battle. More importantly, it gives me a chance for my general to stay alive. An invaluable general that has been meticulously groomed with special traits and retinue for countless seasons. Okay... there's more, but i'm done. I love this game, forever
I’m Extremely honored to be highlighted in this channel! 2 last tips: “Favour of the gods” is probably the best trait in the game. And any characters with 4 names instead of the usual 3 will kick ass.... example: Publius Cornelius Scipio Asina (but don’t use this guy as faction heir [unlesss you are a beginner] because Cotta has more potential at 16 yrs old with great traits. This is just an example of a character with 4 names)
I remember downloading this mod. I liked the way it looked and the new factions but I found gameplay veeeery tedious. I remember being confused about government types and some other things. Two things that I hate most are the fact that most units are regionally restricted (which makes you armies look like dog's breakfast) and the fact that they are not colour coded by faction (romans should be red so I could tell my units apart from the enemy's; I really don't care if they were red historically but it makes for a better gaming experience)
@@stejar12345 Well, in my experience only in the technical part because you have to code more stuff and make a new engine (somtimes). But when it comes to certain concepts i think it's about equal. Except one side is payed and the other often not and because one side doesn't have to behave according to a deadline i suppose it can kinda explains why mods often do some things better the original devs just never really thought about or it was too time constraining to include it or the head of development (or whatever you call it) just in't like it at all. But oftentimes modding teams sorta run the same way though. It's really hard to come up with new shit and how to put it ingame. Modder or not. Believe i tried this myself once.

Speaking of unknown factions, anyone heard anything of the AUH mod (all under heaven)? It's focused on asia with the mongol horde on the eve of throwing themselves against the jin. It even promised to include a tibetan faction! It's been in development since 2007 i think. Last time i checked he merged with another chinese dev team and shared assets between them, that was like 5 years ago.
One of my favorite playthroughs was as Baktria... I created an empire and had a fierce rivalry with the Seluicids... I created 4 armies and invaded Mesopotamia but they were able to hold me after I took Selucia but my empire still stretched from Mesopotamia to India. It was a great playthrough and it was nice having an AI that actually built armies and kept me on my toes. The population mechanic made it so I couldn't completely replenish my armies. After they held me I had to take a defensive posture until my armies were reinforced. By that time they had armies to match mine and even launched a counter attack into Persia which diverted my forces from continuing my conquests. I love EB
A note for those who don't know about the "length of battle" and how long they seemingly take compared to Rome Total War Vanilla. The ED squad decided to add a more robust/realistic moral system to their units. A good to great general 4+ stars with an army of capable units that have 1-2 experience chevrons will be a formidable foe indeed. In vanilla Rome so often the unit cohesion was fantastically unrealistic. The trained Roman Hastati ranks and especially the trained Greek hoplites should have been able to maintain an order of battle and remain in their trained stances during a melee. E.B. I&II take this into account and it really gives the feel of slogging through a bruising bloody battle that may swing back and forth and that one opening taken advantage of at that one moment can win the day. I really admire this Mod as much for the battle AI as much as the time and work put into creating the more logical systems for the economy etc. etc, This is basically what happens in this mod. Your troops will def. react well to keeping your line's flanks protected and all the other tricks and such a good general can employ to make success a more realistic prospect. In vanilla Rome units take some casualties , run away, regroup and just stand around until ordered back to the fight by which time other units are chain routing...and once a unit has been shaken they were much more likely to be unable to fight again effectively in a single battle in Rome I. Give Europa Barbarorum a try. The battles are fabulous at times and due to their better pacing but the org. battle to shame. BTW. Peace 2 you LegendofTotalWar. Europa Barbarorum mods both I&II need mad love and this vid was a very decent introduction. P.S. I also mod back in the Rome Total War music....the way to go imho! Rock on folks!
This was my favourite mod for the entire Total War series. I have PTSD remembering the hundreds of battles to hold Iuvavoaeta against the Sweboz. Oh, I think it's time to download EB2 for Medieval 2 and give it a good tumble...
I was always holding Northern Italy and beaches of South Gaul with whole Spain and waiting for marian reforms (Sweboz + Gauls every turn were trying to take Mediolanum xD, always epic siege).
I think EB is the greatest mod every made for a Total War game. It’s very old now, but you could still put it up against any overhaul made today and it would still hold its own if not even beat out the new ones.
From your description it definitely sounds worth checking out. The govt system you described actually reminds me of (and maybe that's what model they built it on) of how Roman society during the empire period was structured - in terms of how they had varying levels of citizenship and semi-citizenship that were open to different people depending on where they lived in the empire. very similar to what you described - only certain populations were eligible for full roman citizenship, which came with certain perks and rights etc, but the populations of client states that were brought into the empire over time would be granted limited version of citizenship (I can't remember the actual term for it) that afforded some rights to these peoples, but not the full deal. As such, one of the ways the Romans bought allegiance from the aristocracy of newly conquered or absorbed areas was to offer the ruler and their family and maybe a limited number of the higher-ups full roman citizenship, whereas the rest of the population were granted the limited variety. Anyrate, what you described very much sounds like an approximation of that - which is really cool and an interesting dynamic to add to the game which makes it feel much more historically aligned, which is a big plus in my book. great review and good suggestion.
Yeah too bad the first one for rome was banned on twcenter because they messes with .exe of the game at the time. I still have their files though. Put it on disc before it got taken down. Don't remember where i put it though. jeez it's so long ago.
There is a mod called "The Dominion of Man" by far the best mod for TwR1 that is based off of lord of the rings, it takes place in the fourth age of lotr, and my current campaign{Haradrim Empire btw} wouldn't stand a chance even when upgraded a lot compared to some of the groups like Gondors and Arunds decent troops but, I learned that Haradrim Soilders the basic infantry have javelins, I only learned that on accident, I had them in a line and put them on fire at will when I noticed it, javelins, are so so good, there was 162 troops in each of the Haradrim infantry and they through the javelins if the jav landed it killed or heavy wounded who it hit, they're entire armies front was ripped up, soooo I hope you check it out, its a lot of fun and it is really well done.
Another thing I thought i'd mention about this mod is that you can get it to run off both the BI and Alexander executable and the Alex.exe has much better combat and StratMap AI.
I really enjoy your videos; I do want to let you know that not everyone on you tube has short attention spans, f you are pandering to those people they will leave as fast as they arrive, I often times cant play total war, because of the heavy time investment, but I do enjoy long videos of people playing the game. That didgeridoo-sounding instrument is actually an ancient Celt instrument called the carnyx. Despite being a brass horn, it can be played in a way that sounds almost identical to the Australian wooden horn.

Great mod. It's like a whole new game. Battles can be slow and sometimes, for me anyway, a little too slow. But overall a great mod and a great review of the game.
Review Third age: total War (Divide & Conquer) I've played this mod for many hours, totally rekindling my love for Medieval 2. I know you aren't a particular fan of Lotr, but I think this mod deserves a mod review from you. Love the content!
Europa Barbarorum 2 is one of my favorite mods ever. Playing as Epirus and remaking Alexander's empire after taking Italy was one of my top 3 campaigns of all time.
If I remember correctly, the reason EB battles took so long was that the lethality of melee weapons were turned down to 10 or 15%. So even if your troops got in the hits, they didn't necessarily kill anyone.
For faction specific troops in custom battles, you need to start it in multiplayer mode (through the configuration shortcut). That way you can play with any era troops, like Polybian or post-Marian Romans.
Biggest memory I have of this mod is playing as Ptolemeys and fighting Seleucids. I killed their army relatively quick but they had an armored elephant that I fought for an hour. The battle timed out because none of my troops could penetrate the armor.
If u try EB ll and play the greek states u need to put 40 years or older characters that have 1 or more influence in their home settlement to trigger reforms please like so legend can see
Check out Diadochi Total war its like EB, it was released later and it contains BI and ALX. I think it has slightly larger map, different design ,units, music(it has epic music from movies such as alexander, gladiator etc) simiral buildings and culture. I think the same team made it or some of the guys from EB. Those two mods are my childhood in Total war i was really enjoining them back in the time.
I have that mod and it looks great. But the camera controls in battle are really weird and not at all like any other game I've played on the TW2 engine. It threw me off playing the mod. Is there any way to reset the camera controls to default?
I'm playing this mod right now. Was a diehard fan of the original EB on Rome, and I say this iteration is a much-improved and worthy successor. It's a lot more stable on Medieval II than it was on Rome 1, while the hard-coded limits allow for more units, more territories, more factions, and more gameplay mechanics (castles representing nomadic camps in this mod, for example). The game is definitely far far slower than normal TW gameplay (I'm nearing 100 turns in my Kimmerios Bosporos campaign and have ONLY JUST NOW subdued the Sauromatae, expanding my empire to a glorious 10 territories - or rather 10 allied tribes, in the mod's internal logic!), but I actually like it, as it allows for more realistic movement rates across the campaign map, seasons and more character development. Everything being so expensive forces you to prioritize your goals and sometimes sacrifice settlements to save your troops, always planning long-term. I found that a nice change of pace from my usual unchallenged steamroll across the map. The one thing I don't like is how damn long it takes to break through a chokepoint in siege battles.
Nice review. Would also be interested to hear your opinion about the Darthmod for the Empire Total War. For me, that mode changed the game completely for me and made it actually quite enjoyable, but also challenging.
Great video ! thanks for the infos ! Btw, just a tip for the latin prononciation, its Yoo-Lee, not Julee-i, Skee-pee, not skeepee-i, and Brutee, not brutee-i :) The double i i in latin does not work as an acronym, its literally a double i, and is pronounced as an extension of the sound "ee"
Battles last longer eh? I played the Expanded Greek Mod and the first battle as Rome against Prryhus was a devastating defeat for me because of how tough units were compared to vanilla and how long they would stay in combat, I lost momentum. When I tried again, and I mean really tried, I won the battle with under a 1/3 of my force lost (mostly skirmishers and cavalry) using skirmish and luring tactics and the battle took me well over an hour. The battle though was probably one of the most realistic in terms of how it went. Lots of posturing pre-battle, forming ranks and maneuvering for any possible advantage. A proper skirmishing phase with light troops and cavalry, cavalry engagements on the wings, harassing enemies lines with what was left of the skirmishers after theirs were finished. The Hastati advanced on the Phalanxes, after a brief period Prryhus committed himself and I committed my centre princeps and hit them with cavalry and skirmishers in melee from behind and rolled the enemy line from centre to flanks. I trust your opinion and so I'm gonna give this mod a try! A new challenge is always welcome and I hope I can have some more really cool moments
I'd be kinda interested in seeing you play more with unplayable factions that are missing basic components of the game or have features no other faction has; it really changes things up. Like Rebels from Med 2's general campaign- tons of borderline useless manpower tied up in tiny spread-out armies, agents that spawn on their own and cannot be recruited like witches, and the weirdness of low public order spawning rebel troops on your side, incentivizing you to destroy courthouses (in true smelly peasant rebellion fashion, of course) and jack up taxes on your fellow revolutionaries.
Dude, it should probably be mentioned here that they have actually continued the development and are I believe two or three versions further by now. This is 1.1 and I think the current one is 1.3C or something, and they really improved on several issues. If anyone thinks about getting this, make sure it's the most current version for stability sake alone. It's worth it, I promise. If you like deep and intense campaigns, this is the best Total War "game" of all time IMO.
This is the best mod i have ever played. 3 months of playing as macedon and sgill could not conquer whole world. If anyone still plays rome 1 highly suggest to download this mod
Best mod bar none, and better than the base game by far. Probably spent 100s of hours playing it. A lot of the overworld tracks for eastern factions are pleasant to listen to, but the celtic/barbarian tracks tend to be headache-inducing.
This is the best mod of all time. It is so meticulously researched. And you can tell how much it influenced Rome 2's unit visuals which was one of the few things Rome 2 did right was actually make historically accurate, unique and varied units. However if you're not a history nerd I don't see it being that great as the load times are forever. The most fun factions are by far the Arabs and the Bactrians
Thing I loved about this mod: It added a shit ton of great content for a time period I greatly enjoy. The reason why I didn't like the mod even still: I don't like campaigns that drag on for hundreds of hours. It just isn't worth it. It isn't fun enough to make me think a campaign is worth that much amount of my time. If they could make this mod - but speed up the pacing of everything, the battles, etc. I would be happy. But until then, I just can't really ever enjoy it for very long.

Great review, I started playing EB one month ago! Can you please do a review on the Extended Greek mod as well? It was my favourite some years ago! ^ ^
This was THE mod for rome total war! The campaign could be a bit boring at time against too many rebels but the unit stats were perfect for PvP battles :D
There are some decent ideas for the mod that I liked, but there are a number of things that kill this mod A) Unit costs are ridiculous in terms of actual effectiveness of troops. Apparently the modders believe a javelin skirmisher is worth more than an archer (specifically a Toxotae) which is ridiculous, and it gets worse for cavalry units. You pretty much can't afford anything but light cavalry which is worthless outside of routing defeated units and these units are priced in a way where you would rather have more infantry or skirmish units than one cavalry unit. B) Coupled with the above problem is the fact that the AI doesn't seem to want to fight pitched battles. Instead most battles pretty much devolves into sieges which is in general par for the course for this series (minus Empire and Napoleon unless the city has walls), but guess what that means That means even if you could afford expensive units like cavalry, you're not going to use them in a siege effectively making cavalry pointless in this mod and the overall experience boring. C) Every other enemy AI general is overpowered especially Parthian AI generals. In my experience, this has been something common in Rome and Medieval 2 Total War along with some of their mods, but this mod somehow makes this problem even worse. These freaking pos will annihilate your troops if you're not careful. I have countless times had these generals crash right in front of my pike (or spear) units while in pike formation no less, and they still defeat them. That is complete, utter BS. D) Enemy morale is clearly buffed in higher difficulties. In general, I never minded too much that the AI either cheats a little or is given a few buffs considering how dumb the AI can be, but again, this mod seems to take things way too far. I have countless times not been able to break most enemy infantry units even when they are A) tired if not exhausted, B) their general died, C) I have them attacked on at least 2 sides and finally D) they've been reduced well below half their strength. In pretty much any other Total War game or mod even in the hardest difficulties, you would either quickly or instantly route a unit if you achieved one or two, never mind all four, of the above conditions (excepting general units or some kind of hero/elite unit), but in this mod there is a good chance the enemy unit will still fight on. Your units though will easily break of course.
Late to the party, I know, but I'm not really sure what you're trying to claim with this comment. A) For instance, you seem unaware that 120 (the number of men in an Akontistai unit) is bigger than 60 (the number of men in a Toxotai unit), which means that the total cost of the unit does not equally reflect the cost per man for both units. Akontistai are also better equipped and do more damage. Cavalry is expensive but extremely powerful, if used right. B) Campaigns devolving into endless sieges is a RTW problem, so not specific to this mod in particular. C) Are you playing on H or VH battle difficulty? If you are, you have NO excuse because that means that not only you don't know how to count up to 120, but also you didn't read the FAQ, which is the first thing you do when installing a mod. The FAQ clearly state that the game is balanced for M battle difficulty. The fact that those bodyguards are among the most powerful units in the whole game doesn't help. D) From this I'm pretty certain that you play on H or VH, and this reinforces the fact that you didn't read the FAQ. The AI gets hardcoded battle bonuses at higher difficulties, which are unmodifiable by mods. This means that on top of not knowing how to count up to 120 and not reading the FAQ, you also don't know the game that you're playing and you're blaming the mod instead. To sum up, the only thing that you displayed with your comment is that you played battles where you weren't able to count the men inside your own units, in a mod which you didn't read the FAQ for, on a game that you don't know. So again, I'm not sure what your point is.
the saromatae are the sarmations, if im not mistaken scythia were wiped out by the saromatae about 300 bc and are not historically accurate in rome 1 as they were already wiped out but their culture is pretty much the same
I tried once to play the Saba campaign, even knowing the warning of the game saying that it is really hard to beat, and for me it was the best experience I had in a total war game. It was so hard, most saba units are skirmishers and climbing north just to face a fully developed ptolemaic empire and the remaining forces of the seleucids was hell. I loved how deep my connection was with my generals, they went through hell and beyond just to get locked in a poor settlement scrambling levies to hold off the enemy. My reinforcements from the south were always cut and forced to retreat by the ptolemaic troops, but they were necessary to go up since they could distract and soften the blows for my generals to catch their breaths. I spent so much time in that sadistic campaign that the thing it made me stop was the broken engine itself. How could these ptolemaic dudes possibly spend so much money in getting so many stacks of elite troops without the engine backing them up? The more I conquered, the more stacks I faced, west, those fuckers were restoring endlessly their troops. I couldn't take it anymore, I took a break from the game and the next time I opened it, it was to change the campaign. The total war AI factions cheating just to make the game harder hurts me a lot, I knew it, but seeing it when I am suffering left a really sour taste. Still, that was the greatest campaign I had with the mod, everything was too real that only being reminded that the AI cheated to keep the game longer was what ended my campaign. Great mod, I got many memorable stories playing it.
As Saba you might want to cross the Red Sea into Ethiopia you can recruit Ethopian soldiers who are going to be useful against the Ptolemaics. Aithiopikoi Toxotai (Ethiopian Archers) are decent archers and along side the longer ranged Giusim 'Arabim Tsphonim (Arabian Light Archer-Spearmen) you want to use them as your main archers replacing Qasatim Saba'im (Sabean Archers). Aithiopikoi Machairophoroi (Ethiopian Swordsmen) and Hoplitai Troglodutikes (Red Sea Hoplites) are good infantry with very good stamina. Aithiopikoi Hippeis (Ethiopian Cavalry) are only slightly worse than your native region recruitable Abbir Ezra'him (Sabean Medium Cavalry). However the main reason you want Ethopia is African Bush Elephants which are vastly superior to the Ptolemaics and Carthaginian Forest Elephants and are inferior only to Armoured Indian Elephants. Of course Elephants are micro-management intensive and are weak to javelins and sling shots but when handled properly they can easily wreak havoc
@@RocketHarry865 Thanks, might try to revisit this mod soon, I'm getting tired with shogun 2 vanilla and instead of searching for a mod, this video and the disaster news about the three kingdoms (ugh, duels in a total war) make me more and more want to install this mod again and try to lose myself yet again in this game. I tried the recruitment viewer in my playthroughs and know the elephants, and I tried once to get west, only to see that the ptolemaic empire already tried to besiege that settlement who recruit elephants, the AI couldn't conquer that town no matter how many armies it sent, it only made the eleutheroi there stronger. I claimed it there with my king nonetheless (skirmisher army, great against elephants) yet the elephant recruitment was too costly for me, so I simply held the west with my king while his son was fighting the seleucids and some other generals up against the ptolemeus. The grind is what stopped me in that campaign. I should probably give it another try, the nostalgia is getting to me.

-From the EB FAQ
I mean, you probably don't plan to upload another video just for a custom battle, but still that's what was going on in case anyone wondered
Love the mod, and was annoyed that he wasn't aware of this during the video as I remember it being explained when I downloaded the mod myself.
Yeah, use to happen !
I cant find the mp custom game edu
A few big differences you didn't go over:
Units/Armies are costs are much higher in this game.
For example
Thraikioi Rhomphaiaphoroi (Elite Thracian Infantry)
BATTLE MECHANICS
Your control has to be much better in this game.
2 last tips:
“Favour of the gods” is probably the best trait in the game.
Yeah eb exploits the strategic capabilities of the game and makes you do stuff that vanilla or other mods or....rome 2 does not
You nailed it :)

When a group of modders like 10 years ago takes a steamy dump on any of the games you've made with hundreds of developers
Sad how rome 1 with mods blow R2 away
@@koolaidman2702 still blows it away even without mods
making a mod is easier than making a game though
Making a game is infinitely harder then making a mod.. wtf lol

For those considering buying R:TW, it's currently 66% off on Steam atm. It's already a cheap game, so just grab it now if you haven't done so already :)
I already have it but i cant play it because it does not work on windows 10
Download the .dll to remove the lag. I can send it to anyone who needs it.

Yup. Might be cool to see the breakdown between 2.0 and whatever version they're on now too
Truly
Great mod IMO. I personally like it more than Stainless Steel.
So many factions you never knew about previously and the threat of the mongols is real.
I love EB

Roma Surrectum II mod as a next review?
Yeah, it sorta did the same thing with government building but even more expanded on it. Even for other buildings as well.
I dont think he played rs 2 and even if he had probably not full campaign.

Ave! How did you solve the problem with crashes after battles? 🎈😶
Ave! How did you solve the problem with crashes after battles? 🎈😶
@@otkroy_glaza I never encountered a crash after battle, but I was also playing it on an older pc back in the day. I have not tried EB in years.

Imho EB music is pretty damn amazing, I still listen to it years after playing it.
Been years since I've seen this mod. Loved it at the time, despite my old piece of crap computer having a stroke every time I tried to run it.
DO MORE MOD REVİEW

Would be a good mod to review for Medieval 2
Yeah too bad the first one for rome was banned on twcenter because they messes with .exe of the game at the time. I still have their files though. Put it on disc before it got taken down. Don't remember where i put it though. jeez it's so long ago.
wu1ming9shi Could you upload it anywhere? I still search for it, to no avail.

EB II please
After playing EB I've never gone back to vanilla Rome I
There is a mod called "The Dominion of Man" by far the best mod for TwR1 that is based off of lord of the rings, it takes place in the fourth age of lotr, and my current campaign{Haradrim Empire btw} wouldn't stand a chance even when upgraded a lot compared to some of the groups like Gondors and Arunds decent troops but, I learned that Haradrim Soilders the basic infantry have javelins, I only learned that on accident, I had them in a line and put them on fire at will when I noticed it, javelins, are so so good, there was 162 troops in each of the Haradrim infantry and they through the javelins if the jav landed it killed or heavy wounded who it hit, they're entire armies front was ripped up, soooo I hope you check it out, its a lot of fun and it is really well done.
legend please do a europa barbarorum playthrough
he did.
And it took a longggggg time. EB is fantastic, but it is a grind for sure.
... And it too so long, he said he'd never be doing one again
He cannot play slow games, will loose him viewers. No TATW or EB.
Can't express how obsessed I am about this mod. Never unistaled it. It is still in my ox even there will be over 6 months apart my game sessions
I hope you continue to do what you are doing. Thank you
I been Waiting for this for years for Legend to make a review of this great mod!
Yay that was my suggestion :) great review
This game has been upgraded to 1.3 version couple years and is quite awesome, though EB2 is still a great and enhanced mod ever downloaded , as you can see, this latter has been fancied by many fans. Good vid , mate! Cheers!

I agree its a classic ::)
Good stuff seeing all the content and streams, keep it up bud.
Could you please review DEI for Rome 2?
YES, I don't know if you know how many times I asked your opinion on these mods, thanks for putting in the time to make a video about it!
That didgeridoo-sounding instrument is actually an ancient Celt instrument called the carnyx. Despite being a brass horn, it can be played in a way that sounds almost identical to the Australian wooden horn.
You're not getting the generals buffs to leadership and defense that you get in camp, so yeah they're gonna break more often in custom battles
Thats the best mod i still playing it instead of rome 2.
Roma Surrectum 2 is better :P
Never!
Roma Surrectum has a lot of weird units and balancing. Like some of the stats are just way too high and it feels off.
what about roma surrectum 3?
@@bloatedpotato Dio A Dio A Dio A Never played 3, but I saw a Greek "hippotoxotai" (horse archer) unit that was supposed to actually be manned by actual Greeks so that just sounded strange to me. I mean like sure maybe some random Greeks tried copying it for fun, but a recruitable unit?
I just like EB's events and reforms better and feel it definitely has better music as well.
That said though, RS's strong point is in its legion system.
Roma for life
You should definitely look into The submod for stainless steal “SSHIP” it’s completely changes everything and adds a lot more difficulty

Review Third age: total War (Divide & Conquer)
I've played this mod for many hours, totally rekindling my love for Medieval 2.
So even if your troops got in the hits, they didn't necessarily kill anyone.
can you do a review about NTWIII?
Thank you for allowing me to discover so much great stuff on my favourite ttw games :D
my fav mod ever
Boy, these were good times, thanks Legend. I played Europa Barbarorum more than any other mods in TW franchise. It really shaped the future of the TW.
For faction specific troops in custom battles, you need to start it in multiplayer mode (through the configuration shortcut). That way you can play with any era troops, like Polybian or post-Marian Romans.
ΕΒ will create another desktop icon named CUSTOM BATTLES. You can find the faction units there. At least, that's how I remember it.
EB is just a beast as a mod. It turns Rome 1 into a better experience than all of Rome 2 and Attila combined.
Anybody here remember a mod called Roma Serrectum 2? Basically Rome 2 before Rome 2 came out
I like these mod reviews keep it up!
Stainless Steel Historical Improvement Project (SSHIP) for Medieval 2 Total War.
Ave! How did you solve the problem with crashes after battles? 🎈😶
Nice review.
Would also be interested to hear your opinion about the Darthmod for the Empire Total War. For me, that mode changed the game completely for me and made it actually quite enjoyable, but also challenging.
This has been the only total war game I've played for the last 5 years or so. It is unbelievable how good this mod is.
Great video ! thanks for the infos !
Btw, just a tip for the latin prononciation, its Yoo-Lee, not Julee-i, Skee-pee, not skeepee-i, and Brutee, not brutee-i :)
The double i i in latin does not work as an acronym, its literally a double i, and is pronounced as an extension of the sound "ee"
Thanks for the great content. Please do a review of Roma Surrectum 2 for RTW.
I remember you talking about crashes a lot in the Seleucid lets play. Is the mod itself very stable?
I never hear about that mod, thanks a lot for letting us know that mod!
Legend please do Roma Surrectem 2 mod. That was the Best Mod Ever!
RTW music was great, but I much prefer EB’s
Even though I can't bring myself to play any Total War game any more, I still love this channel... playing TW was us so that we don't have to. :D
Nice review! Waiting for Roma Surrectum!
Thing I loved about this mod:
It added a shit ton of great content for a time period I greatly enjoy.
The reason why I didn't like the mod even still:
I don't like campaigns that drag on for hundreds of hours. It just isn't worth it. It isn't fun enough to make me think a campaign is worth that much amount of my time.
If they could make this mod - but speed up the pacing of everything, the battles, etc. I would be happy. But until then, I just can't really ever enjoy it for very long.
BINGO! you have convinced me to play this game! No joke! If is on the list below i will buy it.

wwr,
Nice! Going to give this a try when I start playing Rome
Thanks for this it’s a good overview. Would you do one for EB2 or is it too similar? I prefer the feel of Medieval 2 to Rome and a brief overview of that mod would be really helpful
Great review, I started playing EB one month ago! Can you please do a review on the Extended Greek mod as well? It was my favourite some years ago! ^ ^

This is great! Could you maybe do eb2?
Roma Surrectum 2 or Roma Surrectum 3 for RTW?
i've played EB more than any other game in my entire life
This was THE mod for rome total war! The campaign could be a bit boring at time against too many rebels but the unit stats were perfect for PvP battles :D
Totally agree! Europa Barbarorum is awesome for multiplayer, and as a matter of fact there is still a community for that!
There are some decent ideas for the mod that I liked, but there are a number of things that kill this mod
A) Unit costs are ridiculous in terms of actual effectiveness of troops.
Much prefer the EB soundtrack, suits the aesthetic of the mod. Vanilla S/T is good but very hollywood, just like the game really.
the saromatae are the sarmations, if im not mistaken scythia were wiped out by the saromatae about 300 bc and are not historically accurate in rome 1 as they were already wiped out but their culture is pretty much the same
I tried once to play the Saba campaign, even knowing the warning of the game saying that it is really hard to beat, and for me it was the best experience I had in a total war game.
You should try "Bellum Crucis" is an incredible Overhaul of Medieval 2 made by an Italian team (frankly i think is the bast Overhaul of all the Medieval 2 mods)
Rome: Total War Is Probably One Of My Favourite Games Of All Time, And I've Only Auto-Resolved A Battle Once, In Which I Lost 0 Troops And Won. Partially Because The Enemy Had 6 Troops And I Had An Actual Army.
This mod looks awesome BUT does the barbarians still get the shittiest walls or they got a buff?
The mod is way more historically accurate, so yeah the barbarian factions are actually balanced compared to the Romans for exam ple
