    Hey Annabel, thank you for sharing this! I am 30 y/o, have been working in another market for years where I finished my education and etc, but now, thinking about my next adventure and WORK LIFE BALANCE (34+) I am really going for the Instructor and Patrol career at the Outdoors. So watching this kind of content makes me happy and it`s pretty much fun. Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great time out there ;)

    Just stumbled across this video. I've actually just started my own instructor qualifications. I'm in quite a different position to you, 30 and a qualified accountant, but just love skiing I want to make it my career.
    Interesting to see what the Austrian qualification entailed, i've chosen the Irish, IASI, have passed the Level 1 course, just need to do my first aid and shadowing hours, and plan to do level 2 in December.

    Hi Annabel, thanks for sharing! Do you know how transferrable the SBSSV is to other countries? Thanks :)

    • @annabelcrichard
      @annabelcrichard  Рік тому

      One can transfer... but you normally have to re-take the qualification level you are at on the new system so it can be expensive. For example I have the SBSSV anwärter but could go do my BASI 2 (without doing the level 1). Hope that helps :)

    Loved this video, how long around would you say it takes from signing up-getting first job. I’m 19 and will be in a ski area next year

    • @annabelcrichard
      @annabelcrichard  3 роки тому

      Heya, so it really depends, on what course you sign up for and when the course is, for example if you do the SBSSV system in Austria and do the course in December you will be assigned a ski school/ be expected to have already found a job for the rest of that season. Hope that helps :)

      Hello, it will vary a lot depending on what exam board you choose to qualify with, where you do it and where you choose to stay through it. Going onto the Basi or SBSSV websites they provide all the cost information.

    I live in the uk and want to become a instructor. I have been skiing once and I don’t know how I can practice before I apply because I don’t have much money what can I do

    • @annabelcrichard
      @annabelcrichard  3 роки тому +2

      You could book yourself a few lessons on a dry slope or in a ski dome, however, this can be quite expensive. Most instructor qualifications offer an optional training week prior to any exams that you could sign yourself onto. Also go check out @johncollinson on Instagram, he's a sick skier but has also just launched an 8 week workout program called 'SkierFit' which will "build strength, endurance, and coordination for the slopes this winter."

    One late question 😀. Do you have to buy the ski suit from the skicours.

      No you don't! All uniform is provided, however you will need your own skis/ boots etc. :)

    Does anyone have info about the French system? I'm looking to become a snowboard instructor in France but have had a really hard time gathering information regarding it. Would really appreciate some insight

    • @davidzof
      @davidzof 9 місяців тому +1

      France doesn't have a separate track for snowboarding. You need to become a ski instructor and snowboarding is an option of that. France will recognize (with reluctance) non French snowboarding certification. You need to be L4 to teach in France unless you are classed as a trainee.

    • @freshbart

      @@davidzof thank you! yeah unfortunately ive heard non french certs wouldnt be accepted, but i was wondering about how to start from the ground up in here (france), if you know anything let me know!

    Does the company you are working for help with that?
    What is the cost of that?

      Heya Carl, with my ski school we were provided instructor accommodation that was basically a house with bunk rooms for £10 a night that came out of our salary. I know with other ski schools though you'd be provided fully catered accommodation.... Really just depends on who you work for but they will almost always help you (and if they don't... go work somewhere else)!
