BEST BITRATE for TWITCH STREAMING?!

  • Yes, upping this setting might make it harder for people watching on their phones to tune in especially if you don't have transcoding, meaning the ability to change the resolution/quality of the stream to something lower in case of limited connection on the viewer's end. Partners have guaranteed transcoding, affiliates have it "when available" and non-affiliates do not get it at all.

    What about transcoding? I’m an affiliate and don’t always get transcoding 😢 going to 7000 or 7500 might not give me transcoding. Thoughts?

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  8 місяців тому +2

      The bitrate you have doesnt determine whether you get transcoding for your streams or not. For affiliates, you get transcoding "depending on load" (twitch's load, nothing on your end).

    What would be a good bitrate for 1080p 60fps youtube? For best quality streaming ?

      You just set it in OBS, and follow the bitrate info here. There's nothing else to it. But if you're playing high motion fast paced games, I wouldn't use 1080p60. Instead, 1600x900p60

    I've got a good question for you or anyone here that seems to be challenging to find answer to on the internet. What do you think the best possible file type and quality is sufficient to store entire streams on that is both economical and smart for the $200-300 20tb hdd drives to pack in the most videos into it while still managing to get a decent quality if all hell breaks lose and you lose everything? I'm trying to build a backup solutions and I'm torn between a few options.

      UA-cam has a way higher cap than Twitch. For good 1080p60 UA-cam I'd use more like 15,000 kbps if your connection speed could support that.

      8000 is fine too, if it its consistent and stays around 8000 instead of spiking higher which could put you on Twitch's radar to limit your stream quality. I just say 7500 to give a little buffer.

  • @SoulTormnt
    @SoulTormnt 3 місяці тому

    So is it warning to use 8000? I was using 6000 and saw 8000 would be better to higher quality streaming and my stream was pixelated in Rocket League quite often, not that much but I want a better quality, should I use 8000 bits or is it risky in terms of that Twitch radar and I should use 7500? My Upload and Download are 120 mbps

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  3 місяці тому

      I like 7500 because it keeps a safe buffer in case things go too far over 8000 and catch twitch's notice. It fluctuates even if you set it at a specific number. Up to you though.

      The VODs wouldnt reflect a 20k kbps ingest either. Its likely a placebo effect. That or some other configuration setting isn't actually let you feed 20k kbps to twitch an you just think its doing it.

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  9 місяців тому

      It uses the same servers and system as Twitch so its basically the same thing. If people are getting kicked down to 720p, it's because they are setting their bitrate way too high over 8000 kbps. Follow the same advice in this Short and you'll be good.

    Twitch dropped my streams constantly when I set OBS it to 6000kbps (I'm a lowly afilliate worm). When I upped it to 8000 (and clicked ignore and everything...according to a different YT person), then I didn't lose the stream, but people complained that 'did the camera suddenly get blurry" and my Stream Dashboard said "unstable", even though I could click on the "unstable" notice and it took me to Twitch diagnostics where it showed my bitrate as 7058 or something and green-colored (which I took as "excellent"). Grrr. So both 6000 and 8000 seem to be the wrong thing. I'm going to try 7500 thanks to your video, but mostly this is a PSA that Twitch well and truly hates streamers and wants me to find a different platform! >_

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  10 місяців тому +3

      Never had an issue like that. My guess is you were riding the 8000 limit, and bitrates fluctuate so going too far over 8000 causes twitch to limit the quality of your stream from their end. So that's why I generally recommend 7500 because it keeps a safe buffer to their upper limit

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes, but also Twitch has a max upload cap you can send to them. So even if you have a 100mbps upload, you can't send more than 8mbps to twitch without running into issues. So yes it depends on your upload, but only to a point
