Thanks for the reaction Don. There’s a special fourth verse to the song thatcGarthv only performs live. She pulls out a pistol. We don’t know if she shot him or herself. So the story got resolved, but not on this recording.
Thanks John for this great request. I wish that he would of included the 3rd verse. Tanya Tucker recorded her version (including the 3rd verse) but Tanya put hers on the shelf until her album was done so Garth released first. He has said he didn't record the 3rd verse, as it promotes violence. Thanks for the reaction
But Garth still sang the 3rd verse in concert and kept performing the song live. Unlike Holly Dunn who decided to remove "Maybe I Mean Yes" from her live shows. I wish that Holly had just refused to give in to the idiotic pressure she was under at the time. None of it was justified.
Garth has said wanted to include it. His agent talked him out of it because the AGENT was afraid country radio wouldn't play a song that might be interpreted as promoting violence. That's why Garth always includes it when he plays it live.
There was some controversy over the song and video. Some stations pulled the single from their playlists. But Garth didn't remove the song or the video off of CMT and TNN like Holly Dunn had decided to do in 1991 with "Maybe I Mean Yes" when she was unjustly accused that the song could encourage "Date Rape". That was just nuts and Holly should have told them to Stick it or just ignored those unreasonable radical groups. Probably would have blown over in a few weeks time. "Maybe I Mean Yes" was Holly's highest debuting single on the charts, so it would have been huge. It had been the CMT Pick Hit Video. The whole thing was totally absurd, and Holly shouldn't have never had to endure any of it. Basically, destroyed her career. A few years later in 1996, virtually the same thing happened to Lari White. Another CMT Pick Hit Video "Wild At Heart" but it was set in an insane asylum. Some crazed radicals took offense and claimed it was demeaning to the mentally impaired. Obviously, these people had zero sense of humor. Lari had the song and video pulled just like Holly did and in just a few weeks she was inexplicably dropped by the RCA record label. Really stalled her momentum as prior to that she was well on her way to becoming one of the top female Stars in the industry. RCA let her brilliant new album "Don't Fence Me In" go to waste. I still am pissed off about this nonsense to this day. Neither incident should have ever taken place. Holly and Lari both deserved much better. Don needs to react to both "Maybe I Mean Yes" and "Wild At Heart" soon. Especially now that he has just reviewed "The Thunder Rolls".
I have seen quite a few Garth Brooks reactions recently, so you might be able to do a few more. Maybe try putting some sort of overlay on the video so that it's not 100% visible.
Don, love the reaction. Gotta disagree with the score, though. This song has always been a 10 for me. Here's the verse Garth sings in his live performances (no definite resolution to the story still): She runs back down the hallway and through the bedroom door. She reaches for the pistol, kept in the dresser drawer. She tells the lady in the mirror, "He won't do this again". 'Cause tonight will be the last time she'll wonder where he's been.
@SteveSwags Yeah, that section of the song makes a difference, and not sure how I would’ve rated it had I heard it that way the first time around. Some of my guesswork was correct, but the section above makes it real clear what was going on.
I love this a man that was a trucker this was our song

And yes, this was very early inbGarth’s career in 1990.
Yes, we know it got resolved but we still don't know how

There is another verse that they don’t play on the radio! You need to find it and listen to that version… it is a resolution!
The live version includes the extra verse that the label wouldn't let him put on the album.
In live version of the thunder rolls will give you more information
Yeah you got it right that is what I want the original I was on my way down to North Carolina carol g please play it again and yes he cheated
If you here the mix to this song there is gun shots at the end
Garth Brooks wasn't the original singer of the thunder rolls. Most people don't know that Tanya Tucker was first to record the song.
Thanks for letting us know about this. I had no idea Tanya did this song. I'm going to check that out now.
@@KuscosPoison You're welcome
I didn't know that either. When did Tanya record her version? Must have been in the late 80's, I imagine? Do you know the album it was on? Thanks.
Hey hopefully ya😢 got that message from me Carol g from 😂 Michigan Detroit
I believe the video for this song was banned from being played on tvs due to domestic v!olence scenes/implications,

Tanya Tucker's recording has the conclusion of the song.
Gotta hear the extra verse he sings live
Nice reaction. Garth's - Pappa Loved Mamma is the exact opposite of this. Take a listen to it.

Hey he came home in the rain and she was waiting at the window for him to come home in her night gown at the window
