Great video Tom! If I may, can you make a video on how to create a schedule when you are a subcontractor? How to go about creating your own schedule while using the GC’s master schedule. I’m in that situation now where I’m trying to create a schedule where I need to plan our work within their timeframes and in doing so my schedule has many constraints to match their dates and not everything in my schedule is linked 100% with either a predecessor/successor. I have added other trades’ tasks that come either before or after my particular tasks to show what would hold me up if they are late and then what comes after me if I’m late, but I’m forced to create constraints in order for my tasks to start at certain times which obviously cause a problem. Not everything in the GC’s master schedule is logical where dates flow organically so this is quite a feat!
Great idea, I will try. It is always challenging to do that. You can make things adjust with lags and leads to fall on specific dates but in a very dynamic environment it can also be cumbersome. Make sure you use file naming protocols and notes function to explain and identify cost incurring changes week to week. That way you have a better history
I have a schedule that has about 75 tasks and they all are on the critical path; even if/when I put float or dummie activities in the schedule. I've tried to turn the critical path off, and all I get is the baseline with no colored task bars above. What can I do?
Hi Jim are you in the teacking gantt view? Maybe try the gantt view by sliding to the very left and right clicking mouse select gantt. If you have simultaneous activities of difering duration there should be some that are blue.
Yes so true Gordon, I was away and I struggle with my other laptop to get the sound right. I put a buffer to get rid of the hiss sound on it but that makes it screechy at times. Thanks for the kind words as always!
