Man it was so great to hangout and ride with you guys. Glad we talked you into the route through Madrid! Also, thanks for keeping the speed under 100 and working with my son. You made his month!
My great grandpa was born in 1880 and died in 1946. I often wonder what it was like to watch a century end and another begin. The great changes. A world that became “ alien” to him. Like another planet. Then I realize…I was born in 1984 and I am LIVING that same change. The end of a century and way of life. It scares the hell out of me. Why did I share that here? I don’t really know. Perhaps it’s watching you go through places that are somewhat locked in time. Those places are such a treasure because everywhere else is unrecognizable. I need to get my ass on the road before it’s to late
Definitely a trip to think about. Thanks for sharing, Johnny. There really is nothing like exploring these areas that have been locked in time. Being there feels real, without the nonsense going on everywhere else. A treasure is sure a good way to put it, and we hope many of these places will be preserved over time. See ya down the road
Another great ride is to Oatman, AZ. On the I-40 between Needles and Yucca, head north on 10 road. Donkeys roam the streets there. You can buy carrots and feed them. Clark Gable, Carol Lombard, and other famous actors and actresses often went to Oatman. Southwest of Kingman. Kind of an outlaw town, now a really cool ghost town.
Thanks for stopping at historical sites and/or telling us the background! Also really appreciate your stopping at restaurants and showing us the meals. Really gives us a good idea when we travel!
Thank you for highlighting the plight of those small towns bypassed by I-40. My wife and I will sometimes take an overnight bike trip to Tucumcari and stay in one of the remaining motels. You're right, they're no frills, but they're exactly what we need for a short trip. Keep it up and be safe out there!
Epic trip so far...I'm so glad that you guys get so much saddle time in together. We live in the Pac-Northwest, so our riding season is only about 4 1/2 months long. My friends and I did manage to squeeze in about 4,400 miles This past summer! Keep the videos coming...It's the only thing that gets me through the winter.
My first cross country ride I slept by my bike on the side of the road in one of the pull off spots in Madrid lol. Got into town at 11 pm thinking there would be a hotel being it’s a tourist spot. I was told the nearest hotel was 40 miles away. I started at sunrise and was exausted so just said f it and slept by the bike lol. Will never forget my first cross country trip for sure. Love the video. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from London, England, in day 1 of the new lockdown. I miss my bike trips in the US more and more, so watching you guys doing this is really helping me stay sane. Enjoy the rest of the trip and keep the videos coming!
We will be your sanctuary! More trips coming. Watch our Live’s. Instagram Monday’s at 3:30 p.m. PST and Friday’s at 3:30 p.m. PST. Stay Safe....Stay Inspired.
I remember my family going from Blanding, Utah to Halls Crossing marina on Lake Powell back in '68. It was ALL dirt road. My dad back then measured distance in 6-packs. So it was a good 5 6-packs (about 89 dusty miles) I was a young budding high school football player so I didn't partake. I just watched the odometer (I swear! lol) Great video! You guys are awesome! Val
Madrid looks like a cozy town to settle in on retirement age. In my opinion, nothing beats the iconic scenery along America's desert highways. That juicy and tasty 72 oz. steak at The Big Texan Steak Ranch looks like an invitation for a cardiac arrest! I don't care, though. I would rather pass away happy with a full belly than passing away from depression and an empty stomach. Hehehehe. See you guys on the next episode and safe rides always to all.🤘
Yes, cool little town. We agree with you on America’s awesome roads, although we do want to travel overseas at some point. Ride On and Ride Often!! 👍👍🤘🤘
@@2LaneLife: Riding overseas sounds like a good idea. Riding from eastern Russia to western Europe could be worth a try although it might take months to a year (or more) to complete a ride like that. Go on with that overseas plan of yours after completion of the American tour, guys! 🖒🤘
Wild Hogs! So glad this one came out today - I'm tired of the constant election bs and it's great to relive my own Rt 66 ride. It's awesome that you guys meet with fans and have them ride along for a little while. Didn't get to the Big Texan but we did stop at that green gas station/chamber of commerce as I recall at the end of this video. 66 is a lot of fun.
Love the trip footage so far. Wish I hadn't been at work when you guys passed thru my home in Santa Rosa, NM. I could have shared some history. Next time you guys come out this way you will have to check out Fort Sumner, Lincoln County and Ruidoso.
There was an even smaller town past Madrid about two-three miles on the left called Los Cerrillos. All you would’ve seen from the road was the top of the old cathedral. The little town is pretty cool just like Madrid. They have a huge classic car show there every summer.
What an amazing journey you're sharing, awesome to follow and can't get enough of it!! It just adds more motivation to my dream to ride Route 66 one day. Thank you guys, you rock!! 👍👍
Another great adventure guys! Another 900 miles and you be in Nashville. Plenty steaks, beer, and Lance hat will fit right it. Be safe! Maybe one day y'all come see us! Bring something to eat😂
Man wish I could have joined you! Haven’t even watched it all yet. But no need, I’m local and have made that run many times! Hope you really enjoyed. Safe travels!
Was great to hear your thoughts on how the past has gone!!! My thoughts exactly when we did Route 66. Lots of awesome sights but also sad to see how time has passed it all by!!!! One can only dream what it was like in it's heyday!!!!
It sure would be awesome to see these areas in their heyday! It's definitely interesting to see which of these area continue to thrive and which ones fade away. Sounds like you had a great run on the 66 too. Thanks for watching!
Being from the Four Corners area originally but now I'm in Hurricane, Utah, I have been on I-40/Route 66 many times and this next time will be on my 2020 SGS. I love your videos and maybe I'll run on to you guys one of these days! 2 Lane Life forever!! Val
Another great video. We did this end of the trip a couple years ago, looking forward to the northern end. Shout out to Josh, that's a long haul on that bike. Did some long rides on my Softail Custom, it's rough on your backside being stretched out with no way to get up off your butt. I usually feel kinda old when I watch youtube, then you guys go and drop a Marty Robbins reference. lol
Great Video! Our May trip to K River from Colorado includes an overnight stop in Amarillo and dinner at the Big Texan. I really enjoyed the NM scenery into Madrid.
Thanks for watching, Keith!! Sounds like you've got an epic trip ahead. While Amarillo wasn't the most scenic area on the map, it made for a great stay and the Big Texan is definitely something to check out. Ride safe👍
Cool, I'll be stopping in Amarillo Monday on my way out to Vegas. I enjoy the steak at The Big Texan, too. Loving the ride and like that you have strangers riding along at times. Looking forward to another episode. 😊
The big Texan is one of my favorite stops as a truck driver/ motorcycle rider I love it next time try the jalapeño margarita it’s totally awesome! The only thing I would not recommend is to stay at the hotel though the rooms are nice I woke up with bites all over me !
I'm going to be making this part of the trip next spring. This is a great preview. I'll be joining the route in Albuquerque and bail at Oklahoma City. I'm headed to CT.

Also next time you guys are in Amarillo you need to go down 6th St which is the old Route 66 thru Amarillo and is a bunch of biker bars and businesses.

We’ll have to look that up next time. Jace from FastLife Garage took around on a lot of the awesome back roads. Not sure if we hit that or not. Thanks for the comment!!
You guys rock, I'd love to burn some fuel with you in the up state NY, Mass, Vt. area. Sucks but it's almost time for the FLH to Hibernate. I can't help but think, all the people fleeing California could revitalize some of those communities that were hurt when the Interstate went through. If you come to the North East look me up, although I may have fled NY too.
Amarillo means Yellow in Spanish. That explains why the Big Texan Steak House exterior color. I'm wondering if the name of Amarillo reflects the landscape of the area. Usually everything is dry in Texas and looks yellow.
🛑🛑 Guys…Another Wild Hogs Question??? Does the Bar (Club House) of the Del Fuego’s MC actually exist?? If so, can you take us there?? Great Video Guys…See Ya Down The Road 😂👍!!!
One if these days, when the Reservations open up again, on I-40, just past Houck AZ, just before Lupton, head north on BIA road 12. Stay on it to 264 road. Turn right for about a mile, then turn left back onto 12 road. Stay on 12 to Wheatfields, keep going to BIA 13 road. Turn right at the Giant station toward Lukachukia. Pay attention. Keep going on BIA 13 to Buffalo Pass. Stop at the pass and over look. Say a prayer. It's big medicine. From there you can see Shiprock. Keep going on 13 road, you'll come right past Shiprock. We white guys call it Shiprock, the Navajo call it Rock with Wings. The legend is, a giant bird carried the Navajo people from the 4-corners area to here, an oasis. And it is. But the giant bird then died and turned to stone. You'll pass right through the wings. Its an amazing ride and view. You'll come out on 491, about 40 miles south of the town Shiprock. Thx again for another great video.
Wow! Now that's some awesome history right there. Thanks for all of the tips Samuel. We'll definitely be back in that area sooner or later, so we'd love to check that out. We've seen some pictures and it looks truly amazing. We saved the comment so we'll give it a look. Thanks for watching, stay safe
You guys should change the name of the channel to "2PlateLife". If you not eating in a video, you just left or you're are on your way somewhere to eat.
Another question: on my Ultra, I used to change all boxes with Syn3. I used the same oil for all boxes. It worked great and was a $ saver. But with the M8, is that risky? Thanks men, Val
Thanks Men, I will follow your advice. I should have thought about it a bit more then I would have realized that my bike is still under warranty so I'll stick to talking with the awesome people at Zion Harley-Davidson. They are very knowledgable and friendly; just like you guys! Thanks again! Val
It's called Route 66 Navigation. There was only one section we ran into that was closed and not updated on the app. Other than that, we had a great experience using it
We searched around and found www.route66navigation.com/ Overall, well worth it. It had a live map and showed all of the landmarks on the way with some info. Definitely came in handy

And BTW, don't disrespect that 920 Yamaha Varago. That's a classic bike and its almost 30 years old. There are few left. ...just sayen.
We love the classic bikes! A diamond in the ruff right there
One if these days, when the Reservations open up again, on I-40, just past Houck AZ, just before Lupton, head north on BIA road 12.
Your app caused you to miss historic route 66 on 6th street.
Not really. There is so much to see and we only had 10 days. But we tried to get to as much as possible! 👍👍
I’m surprise all put the camara en the top of the helmet.
We have modular helmets, and the wires from the microphone will pull out if we put the camera on the chin. We will try a new proposition soon 👍
You guys should change the name of the channel to "2PlateLife". If you not eating in a video, you just left or you're are on your way somewhere to eat.
You know...we think that might just be the answer 😂🤘🏼
Another question: on my Ultra, I used to change all boxes with Syn3. I used the same oil for all boxes. It worked great and was a $ saver. But with the M8, is that risky?
Thanks men,
Val
We always comment check with your dealer and or manual.
We use three different lubricants in the bikes. But that a choice we made.
Thanks Men, I will follow your advice. I should have thought about it a bit more then I would have realized that my bike is still under warranty so I'll stick to talking with the awesome people at Zion Harley-Davidson. They are very knowledgable and friendly; just like you guys!
Thanks again!
Val
One thing I really like about you riders, you don't look like or act like thug riders.
We're just riders that ride and enjoy life!
I'm interested to know which app Galen is using...
The Route 66 Navigation Ap. You can honor our Website and see the link or click more under the description on the Video and see the link.
2LaneLife thanks

👍👍🤘🤘🇺🇸🇺🇸
what app are you using to find all the open parts of route 66?
It's called Route 66 Navigation. There was only one section we ran into that was closed and not updated on the app. Other than that, we had a great experience using it
Did you stop and see the Cadillac Ranch?
Oh, I should have waited until the end!! My wife makes me stop at that steak house every time we go through Amarillo. Interesting tourist trap.
@@rubberhead3520 Yup! It was a cool sight to see! You can catch it on our way out of Amarillo in next week's episode 🤘🏼
What app did you use for RT 66?
We searched around and found www.route66navigation.com/
Overall, well worth it. It had a live map and showed all of the landmarks on the way with some info. Definitely came in handy
