    Hey everyone, glad to see y'all are so hyped up on this video, and the Scat Pack 1320. To answer to the biggest question in the comments: Dodge had us all lift at the 1/8th mark, because, earlier in the day, another journalist crashed one of the cars being a bonehead. How you crash a car that's so easy to drive is a mystery to us all.
    Dodge claims 11.70s with this thing, and I don't doubt it, at all, considering I was lifting at the 1/8th and coasting to 12.50s. Press events generally have some restrictions about the cars, and I have to play by the manufacturer's rules (generally 😉) since it's their car, and not mine. If a private owner is interested in showcasing what these things can really do at the strip, message me, and we can set something up!
    Lastly, stay tuned, because I also drove the CRAZY 797 HP Challenger Hellcat Redeye widebody, and have a street drive review of that coming soon.

      Sorry your not lifting at the 1/8 and running 12.50 with a 7.8 1/8 time. 7.8 your lucky if it's a if your under 12.30 flat out through the 1/4. It's not a bad car but no need to stretch the truth. You won't fool the guys that been racing for years only the casuals. 7.8 isn't that bad for not a very experienced driver and with a passenger anyway.
      Car will need just under 7.50s to run 11.70 so it shouldn't be a problem hitting this time unlike with what happen with the demon. It's always better to over preform then under perform.

      @@brihvac didn't say they couldn't run 11s. Maybe comprehend what I was commenting on instead of assuming I have a problem with the car when that's not the case at all. You dodge guys are to defensive.
      I actually said in that comment it wouldn't be a problem for it to run 11.70s. My only point was running 7.80s isn't getting you in the 11s. So l'm not sure what's the big deal about you having a bone stock one running high 11s when thats what they should do just saying.

      I know this is an old post, but I just bought a 2020 1320 with 7k miles on it. Was a little nervous of the low mileage for a car that's 5 years old. It's like the person that owned it just kept it for the track so hopefully not all 7k are drag strip miles. Anyways how's your 1320 holding up if you still have it.

Neither of which cover any aspects of the 1320 model. maybe Dodge should've included a Demon manual with these cars since they share features. Dodge...if you're listening.....it would be nice to get info on the actual features of the 1320 with the car.

The 1320 has a Drag mode that activates the unique drag suspension and works with the Launch control. I couldn't find info on that anywhere in the manual. If you know where it is, please let me know. The regular Scat pack doesn't some with these features. These features were available on the Demon. I have looked all through the owners manual and couldn't find any info, and I also looked through the Hellcat supplement that was supplied with the car...again...no info on the 1320 features. I'm old, so I guess I could've missed it.

      @@themetalmaiden7462 , your salesman should have instructed you on how to access your cars features, I know it's hindsight but it sounds like you got a crapy presentation on your vehicle. I sold cars for 6 years and one thing every sales person should know is how to teach their clients about the features of their vehicle. Also, I know back in the past Dodge would send you to some type of to day driving course if you bought an SRT, I'm not sure if they do that for scat packs. You might wanna call corporate and ask

    • @themetalmaiden7462
      @themetalmaiden7462 5 років тому

      @@alfonsom8286 I agree, the salesman should have known about it, but he didn't. he told me that it was all covered in the owners manual and the Hellcat supplement that are supplied with the car. I took him at his word. And frankly that information should be there, but it's not. The car even comes with a digital version of the owners manual in the entertainment system, but it's just the regular owners manual. Putting the 1320 specific information in the digital version would be the best place to put it if they didn't want to actually print anything else, but it's not there either. I reached out to Customer Care, and they said they would send me the documentation, but alas, it was just another owners manual. So.....my next attempt at getting it is to write to the head of SRT and ask directly, from the people who developed this package for the car, to send me some instructions. Hopefully that will bear some fruit. In my quest, I'm also trying to call attention to this so that future owners of these cars won't have to deal with this.
      I may reach out to some Demon owners and see if they'd be willing to share some info. I'm assuming that their cars came with some specific info, I guess time will tell.

      Man I use the transbrake at red lights just for fun. Easy on the throttle of course. The launch control on the regular scatpacks, which the 1320 also has, is fun too but will break the tires every time. Unless you time it perfect and ease of the throttle after releasing the foot brake. Both still fun as hell, and I need to move up to 305s in the rear with fender flares. I bet it would take the 1320 to a new time.

    Automatics.........sure have come a long way. As good as they've gotten though. You'll have to excuse me for saying it. I still want to row my own gears and "dumping" my own clutch at the right RPM for my best launch may be too prehistoric for the Automatic guys.......but to me this is drag racing. I'll never be as consistent and these days it's awfully tough to beat the new automatics in my '18 392 TA.......but when it happens I know, "I DID IT!".......not the car and it;s tech......it was all ME!! That's drag racing. I'm not sure what to call this in the video. When any idiot that can point a car straight can get it down the track in it's best possible time.......that's a cool hat tip for Dodge and it's engineers that built the 1320 but it says NOTHING to me about the driver and his skill behind the wheel.

    Challengers are such a wide car that I'm not sure there is a narrow body, lol....i understand the reason of the "Widebody" but still can't get over how it's just tacked on fender flares and wears 305 tires. You can just put 305s on a "narrow" body and same thing, just $6000 less money. Plus, I've seen a Widebody scat pack race a standard SRT392, and the standard car won every race. They both had 305 rear tires. I feel the fender flares create more drag and that is the reason. Also same reason the 1320 is standard body only. If you look at Hellcat top speeds, the standard challenger is 199 mph, the Widebody is 195 mph. I do like the 1320. Just something different and a little unique. I like cars like that.

    Unless I missed it, what you showed is not a typical trans brake used in racing. That type uses the transmission (a couple gears together) to hold the vehicle from moving and at the same time, you go wide open on the throttle and have a rev limiter hold the engine rpms to a certain rpm. All you have to do is let go of the transbrake button because your foot is all the way to the floor. What you showed seemed to be close except you have to release the paddle AND go wide open at that time with the throttle? Can someone clarify?

    • @JA-zo6qn
      @JA-zo6qn 5 років тому

      James Stacey dodge did not include a rev limiter in the transbrake launch procedure for no obvious reason. Going past ~2300rpms before paddle release disengages the entire sequence and you have to start it all over

But, that being said, I ran 7.76 @ 92 best 1/8 and 11.9 @ 116 best 1/4 on my stock 245 F1 Eagles. Car was full weight leather group optioned interior too, on stock tune and 93 in the tank. • @DriveBreakFixRepeat

      Precision and efficacy. With the right tire, a transbrake car will launch much harder than just riding on the torque converter, with less wheelspin.

    • @themetalmaiden7462
      @themetalmaiden7462 5 років тому

      Most cars have enough power to push past the holding force of just the front brakes when using a line lock. This can cause you to redlight at the starting line. The transbrake will hold the car against all the force and allow you to bring the rpms up higher for your launch, especially on a sticky tire.
