George Takei has lived such an extraordinary life, and it's amazing to hear him talking about it!
i'm just amaze to find your comment here, originally i found this on facebook and had to fave this, but i gatta agree though; he lived an extraordinary life.
There is so much warmth from his eyes and smile. You can tell he is a compassionate man.
"with liberty and justice for all" that was chilling
Heartbreaking. And we're doing it all over again. And not but 500 miles from my comfy apartment in Austin. People are being locked up. It's sickening
Jeez, if anyone had it hard it is this man. And to turn out to be so lovely and sweet...What strength.
I'd do anything to meet George, he's the nicest most wonderful human ever.
This man is an inspiration, to face such adversity during his life, and to not fall prey to bitterness and resentment is the hallmark of an extraordinary person!
Thank you, Mr. Takei, I wish you nothing but the best. 😃
George is the uncle you wished you had x
one of the coolest people in hollywood. also one of the funniest. george takei is one of the most inspirational figures out there for both gay and straight people.
He's is just SOOO awesome
George you are am inspiration to all LGBT and Straight! Meeting you was the best moment for me!
Dayum! Who doesn't love George!? He's a national treasure.
That he most certainly is.
George looks great for his age.
Asians.
Happy, healthy, balanced I'd call that ;)
Star Trek! Everyone in Star Trek looks young :D look at William Shatner. He is 83 :O
What a story and what a charming man. Love George.
Thank you for sharing this and thank you George Takei.
Such a fantastic person. I went to a panel at FanExpo Canada last summer where he talked, and it was incredibly inspiring.
Also I did not know that Arnold vetoed marriage equality, and that makes me a little disappointed.
These interviews are so amazing!!!!!!! love all of them
I teared up! Such an inspiring man.
This video made me tear up. What an extraordinary man who lived such an extraordinary life.
Love, love, love, love, love this! Thanks, George. I am a straight man, but find this incredibly inspirational!
Anyone gonna mention that camp part? No one gonna pay attention to that????
Of course not, we wanna forget that part of are history. Where we took every American that had Japanese heritage and then push them all into a work camp. Then stole all their belongings and auction them off. To pay for the food and up keep of their camp. Also the food was terrible and their was those who even starve.
While actual Nazi soldiers that was capture and brought over here, if they was on good behavior they was allow to leave their encampment to wonder around towns and go to bars.
Hell most of the places they was kept was by far nicer, then where American citizen with Japanese heritage was kept.
All around we was assholes, however we love to forget about things we do.
Podcast with London and Tyler
In this particular instance I'd say it was appropriate, given that he was giving a talk for a website specifically geared towards the problems homophobia causes school kids. If he had been talking about his life in a different more general forum, that would be different.
+Casting Clorotonia pod “Clorotonia” with London & Tyler It is interesting that the Japanese-Americans were so brutally mistreated by their own government...yet they are not bitter or angry. Japanese-Americans are so resilient and strong and proud and contribute so much to society.
Unlike other races who were wrong hundreds of years ago...yet they are still angry and uneducated and dont offer much...
You are a inspiration... Just love you
Thank you, George. I can' imagine what things were like, all those years. I'm so glad my friends don't have to go through the same kind of thing now.
"Sally and Monica" - THE BEST PART! I clapped enthusiastically. :D He's so awesome. Also, the way he carefully chooses and accentuates his words is so classy.
Great series, L/Studio!
What a wonderful person George Takei is!
Domo Arigato, Takei-dono.
ありがとうございます
Takei 2016.
Everything about George Takei is so loveable.
If Mr. Takei runs a country, that country can only get better.
I saw this video in an ad before another video I was trying to watch and I couldn't stop watching.
George Takei is such a legend!
I'm always impressed whenever I get to hear George Takei talk. - I was born a few months before Star Trek: TOS premiered on TV. IAs I grew up discovering my growing feelings, and struggling with it, I'd like to think it would've helped to know a guy like him was gay and had a good life. Hahah, and maybe it explains why that shirtless swashbuckling scene made me nervous and embarrassed as a young teen. I was shy and yet beginning to figure it out. I wasn't far enough along to feel good about it. What a difference being an ordinary, talented, dedicated person can be, though. His willingness to be friendly and outgoing and outspoken about gay rights and about civil rights for Japanese-Americans (and all Americans) is really great.
Beautiful. I'm straight but support the Gay community and especially George Takei.
Love you Uncle George!!
Uncle George!!!
George Takei is my favorite person
I love his smile - he came through all that and still has the ability to smile. Thank you George
Every time I'm reminded of how awesome George Takei is, I regret that I didn't say hi to him when he was walking right behind me at the LA premiere for the live Rurouni Kenshin film *sigh* I just couldn't tell if the moment was right since he was talking to people. But I'ma hope for another chance! He's amazing!
It's been my experience that he will make time for you. He is genuinely one of the nicest people on the planet!
George, a GREAT MAN!
Wow! I was so touched by his story. So inspiring! Thank u so much George
Just a wonderful video. What a horrible youth he endured! What an awesome inspiration he became.
I love this man. Not THAT way; I'm straight, you see. But, I am a "Japanese-American" whose grandmother, and eldest aunt and uncle, were interred. My grandfather and his brothers also served in the US Army during the war while their families were interred in Idaho. We have actors in our family as well. I relate to much of what George has gone through; and, although I'm straight, as a more libertarian fellow from Seattle, I'm sympathetic to the cause of liberty and equality. I find Mr. Takei to be inspiring and heroic on many levels. I love this man.
Also, go check out Allegiance the Musical; and, if you ever have the opportunity, A Jive Bomber's Christmas. Both are musicals which bring attention to the internment of Japanese-Americans and Americans of Japanese ancestry.
Oh myyyyy.. George rules.
As a gay person, to see this kind man speak of his experience is amazing. He really inspires me. I seriously admire George Takei.
His voice! I never noticed how melodic his voice is. Another reason to love him!
Always admired him, but now that admiration has reached a new level. Uncle George is a truly amazing & beautiful individual

Such an awesome person!! :)
His voice is so pleasent
beautiful
I like George Takei. Honestly if he wanted to narrate a crime show, I would be here for it.
I love you George!
George, bless you for speaking out in favor of marriage equality: I am a woman, straight, nearly 70 years of age...married to a wonderful man. We have several beloved friends in same sex unions. If anything ever happened to my dear husband, there is no question I, as his widow, would receive benefits. Marriage equality means however..that NOW...Rob, Erik, Diane and Sue will ALSO be granted those same rights - under marriage laws. For us to be a just and fair society - that right is critical. For all Americans, regardless of orientation.
So much wisdom and experience 😭
GT is one of the most descent people on the planet. LLAP.
as if i could not admire this man more
:: i love this story ... LOVE
His voice is so soothing o.o
The Voice of Ricardio! Oh my!
Love his voice
So that one person sees this and says it will get better for me.
Really goes to show how much the world has changed- for the better, I might add!
While I myself am not too big on the 'gay' thing, i strongly sympathize with the oppression they have gone through. Regardless of your taste in sexual partner, I don't think anyone should be passing judgement on the virtue of your character
ooh myyy
Wonderful person!! BTW does anybody know the name of the song of the intro?
Oh my….
