    I hate oaywalls

      I hear you! Paywalls can be a bummer. But here's the thing: running websites and domains isn't exactly free, and it takes a lot of time and effort to research and write all those detailed instructions on finding and downloading SmartThings Edge drivers.
      If you prefer, you're always welcome to dive into the research yourself. However, for just $10, you get access to over 30 articles that can save you a ton of time and hassle. It's like buying a map instead of wandering around lost!
      Thanks for understanding.

      @@BudsSmartHome If you CREATED the edge driver yourself is one thing. But if you are taking someone elses product that you found and putting it behind a paywall then that is where I have issues. IDK maybe I am old school and just like helping people out. I do as much as i can for people for free unless I need to buy something then I have them pay for whatever they need. I have never charged anybody for my time. And I get that you are making this your job and like I said if you where creating the edge drivers then that would be one thing. That is just my view. We are all allowed to have our own views. Does not make one person right or wrong just different.

    Interesting sensor, this one for the garage door. I am looking for some tilt/angle sensor to measure angle of my terace, which, looks like, fall slowly. Does it measure absolute angle, or is binary?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 місяці тому

      This sensor does not offer the data that you’re seeking. You would need to purchase an Aeotec multipurpose sensor to achieve these measurements. The Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor provides X, Y and Z measurements that can be used to determine absolute angle. Although you can see the absolute values within the SmartThings app, these measurements are not accessible in a SmartThings routine and are only used to determine movement or a change in angle to detect when door changes position or in the case of vibrations, when someone is knocking on the door.

      @@BudsSmartHome thank you! Just checked, it is supported in the HA ZIgbee2mqtt, so it is not important for me if Smartthings app support it, just HA.

    In regards to the garage tilt sensor I have an echo generation 4. So do I have to have the third reality hub also in order to create Alexa routines?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Kip. The Amazon description for the TR Garage Tilt Sensor states that the device is compatible with the Echo Gen 4 hub. Just put the device in paring mode and ask your Echo Hub to scan for new devices. You can also add it in the app as a Zigbee device. 🛒- Third Reality Zigbee Garage Door Tilt Sensor: amzn.to/3Vt5Dto

    Great Video and Third Reality is top shelf! Only thing I don't agree with is you tout Smart Things and I have found it is the worst of all smart hubs and devices. Got rid of them a while ago and will never go back!

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 місяці тому

      I hear you @Slimhaven1. SmartThings has definitely been challenging over the years. However it is still the king IMO when it comes to compatibility with most smart home brands. At least when compared to the Homey Hub. Homey is continuing to improve but it still has a way to go.
      I'm curious, to which hub did you migrate?

      @@BudsSmartHome Use Home Assistant and Hubitat neither have failed me like Smart Things did. I got so frustrated with Smart Things that I used them as targets for my airgun range. Some things worked well like monitoring washer & dryer but that was about it everything else kept dropping out or would not stay connected to Wifi. Constantly had to reset things.
