Whoa! 9.5, I almost fell out of my chair, lol! Well deserved though. I'm not sure if you saw the translation of one of Miyako's cards that read "Asami, Haruna, sorry." She acknowledged that this track had pushed them to the limits. I can't wait to see how they perform this live. They generally outdo the studio versions, which in this case could be truly mind blowing. Great reaction, thank you.
Lovebites has that tremendous edge over most of the other bands which is their outstanding guitar duo. On top of that they added that machine gun of Haruna, that siren of Asami and lately that bass virtuoso of Fami. This is the only band who can take over the Maiden, Preist, Metallica, Megadeth, and so on legacies. They deserve nothing less but million of fans 🐺🤘🏻
This has been my favorite song since I heard it the first time and I have been waiting for you to check it out. I am pleasantly surprised at the score, since this is the highest score you've given these ladies. It's an incredibly high score and I honestly agree with you. My favorite song period. Can we just say Haruna is an absolute beast, not to mention her insane double kick pace. Truly the 4' 9" Thunder Goddess. Asami's soaring vocals matched by Haruna. And of course the guitar duo work. I don't know of a better duo in the genre (no disrespect to Hazuki / Saki), and they make it look so easy. Miyako's composing skills...off the chart scary! 9.5 is a terrific score David! 🤘
Miyako created a real masterpiece with this one. Its pure progressive power metal madness. She even said that they will practice this song to play live. That is gonna be something really special. What I truly loved David is how you break everything down and help us that haven't been in music understand I love how you break the song down and explain it in it's simplest form. Thanks for coming back to Lovebites. Miyako composed four songs on this album, and the sheer variety in those four is astonishing. She also writes stuff that pushes the envelope technically,, which is one reason they keep setting the bar higher on their performances.

Great review David ! This is also my fav song from them (until the next one comes along). I agree the 2 stars who stand out in this track are Asami and Haruna. Asami hitting those high notes and still make a 100-mile-an hour song sound melodic is no mean feat. And Haruna keeping that pace coupled with those wonderful fills for the entire song. Also, don't forget this is one of Miyako's genius compositions & arrangements. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll play this one LIVE in their upcoming Japanese tour in August & September and film at least one of the concerts.
Hi David! Really enjoyed this reaction! Let me start by saying up front that Lovebites is my favorite band. I also love this song. I might have given it a score that is a couple of points higher, but I'm happy that you gave it a 9.5. I can't say that it's my favorite song of theirs, but it's definitely in the top few. I generally love the songs that Miyako writes (she wrote this one) more than others. I'm also a big fan of classical music and Miyako often includes motifs from classical songs in her compositions. I don't believe she did that with this song (at least I haven't been able to find any), but she does in many of her songs. I don't know if you know this or not, but has a solo EP coming out on June 21st. On it, she has arranged well-known metal songs in a classical piano style. She said that she wanted to show how similar metal is to classical. She has a music video out now in which she plays Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free" as a classical piano piece. It's really breathtaking. You probably don't want to react to it, but I hope you'll watch it on your own. It will show you just how multitalented she really is. You can find it on Lovebites UA-cam channel.Take care!
Nice to see someone really appreciate the work LITTLE BIG ENGINE puts in. She is a great drummer! Don't forget, she got you so excited that you turned red laughing at her skill. Also, you will most definitely hear another song that bumps this one. They are just good songwriters. They write great songs and good songs, never bad songs!
They stood, not solitarily, but together, and delivered! ;) Personally, I don't think I could pick just one single song by Lovebites and say that this is my overall favourite, because the closer I get to the top, the closer the margins get until they become non-existent. What I can say is that this song and the preceding "Dissonance" are my favourite songs on "Judgement Day" and definitely also among my overall faves. I'd also say Asami's vocals on this song really stand out, but I'd say the same about her vocals in "Dissonance" (even though for slightly different reasons). I definitely also love the energy and virtuosity of this song. It was fun seeing how you enjoyed the song and also explained why. Already the length of this clip suggested that this was something special.

Keep LOVEBITES in your future. 【The following is from an interview with LOVEBITES for a magazine project】 [Miyako(G Key and Piano Black hair)] As for "Soldier Stands Solitarily", I had a demo of it when I was working on the "Glory, Glory, to the World" EP (2021). It had a completely different shape than this one, except for the chorus. The chorus was punchy and had a good melody, so I wasn't satisfied with it as it was. This time, I restructured it and reincarnated it. In Miyako's mind, she thought the BPM was too fast, so Miyako said in her mind to Haruna(Dr), "I'm sorry," "If you lower this BPM, it will feel different!" she said. So in Miyako's mind, Miyako said, "Haruna can play at this BPM," and"If you don't play like this, it won't sound cool!" With that in mind, Miyako entered the bass line into the software. Japanese women and children hold up the index fingers of both hands and place them on either side of their head in a "demon" or "ogre" pose, making a "I'm so angry!" and make a kawaii expression. "Demon" or "ogre" is the Japanese word for "oni".("oni"="鬼"👹). At an album presentation at her home, Miyako said, "Asami & Haruna, I'm sorry! and wrote it down and projected it on the screen. The belt Miyako requested for Asami was too high and the BPM Miyako requested for Haruna was too fast, so I think Miyako lovingly apologized to Asami and Haruna with a handwritten message panel on the screen.

Thanks for your critical and honest (and long) reaction. 9.5 is well deserved, and this new song shows (next to the usual stuff): a) All careful doubts about Fami are totally gone, she fits perfectly b) Miyako's talents as a songwriter are as brilliant as expected (not just talent, but also passion) I'm honest, without the mentioned M&M interaction (dual guitar solos, harmonic double), I would miss something. It wouldn't be the same. They are both great! These 5 ludicrously talented women (even better together as a group) are on a great path to rock heaven...

That one trick pony explanation was hilarious, and so true when it comes to M&M. This song is the album closer and I can't wait to see how they perform it live either, especially Haruna's fill, my goodness that fill is epic! Break The Wall is still my favorite from Lovebites cuz that song has some of the best transitions I've heard from them and the contrasting solos from M&M are just glorious in that song along with Haruna's drum rolls, but this one is definitely up there for me as well. Fami's bass part coming out of the solos is something that I wouldn't have even noticed in the past but from watching your reactions and learning more about music I have an appreciation for it now. Great interview with Rant and Chill btw, I never knew about that definition of the word heretic before, but it makes sense.
I hope this song is part of the next concert video set. I will be awesome to see them do this song and project the energy into the crowd with this song. Thunder Vengeance (because it introduced me to Lovebites) is still my favorite, but this song is the a level higher and is my favorite and gets me pumped up every time I hear it! Great Reaction and score!!!! "Wicked Witch" is Fami's favorite because she had to play bass in a way she never did before, so it was a new experience for her in that song.

Here are some great Lovebites songs that don't follow that solo pattern you mentioned: The Hammer of Wrath, Raise Some Hell, Swan Song, Shadowmaker, Signs of Deliverance, We the United, A Frozen Serenade
They don't use that trick on Victim of Time. All dual and listen how Haruna triples on the first part of the solo. Probably one of my favorites of theirs and likely some of Haruna's best work. This one. SSS the speed is just insane. Told you bass player to bass player Fami fits in.
Haruna's drumming in this track is worth that score. The little big engine 😀 Insufficient superlatives for the M & M show. Not sure about this track as an opening song? It is so mind blowing that even other Lovebites songs, would sound rather tame and slow. Although unlikely, it may strain Asami's voice right at the start of the gig. A new favourite Lovebites song? Are you going to add it it to your play list? Ha ha! 🤣
Miyako created a great song but Asami and Haruna really blasted this one. M&M as usual and Fami was quietly holding it down, but again Haruna and that cymbals work that is becoming legendary. Geeking out David is always a riot especially when it is over Lovebites. The Wolfpack is rabid from the band alone and they don't need any help.
Nice reaction. Regarding the pre-chorus (setup), I disagree with the need for that. One thing that Lovebites is amazing at is the flow of their songs. Every transition is so smooth, and not every transition needs some sort of a distinct cut to the next place. The formula works because the two playing the guitar are elite, and unique. This is a great song, but my personal high score is "Judgement Day" which took over from "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath".
"Soldier Stands Solitarily" (My favorite song of the album) was originally written for the EP "Glory, Glory to the World" but did not make the final cut. Miyako said she felt the melody, particulary the chorus, was too good to reject completely. So she rearranged it for this album, and said it came out 100 times better. Why is LOVEBITES my favorite band? Because they are women, doing heavy metal in a feminine way that i like. Not only wearing beautiful stage dresses, but also have some "female lyrics", i think men wouldn't write the same. The music of this song is by Miyako, she has the beauty and the talent.
Lovebites last album is not my favourite from the band, but… this song is my favourite from them. Speed, melody is astonishiing. The Midori solo is hands down the best I have heard from them, specially the tapping part at the start, and never fails to give me chills down my spine. It’s funny because I like Miyako’s playing style better. An absolute banger… I hope they add this song in their future setlists. I reckon this is a perfect last song for a show
It's weird to see Fami so researched in this video... I think she was still, at this time, very overwhelmed to be not only a member of a metal band, suddenly, but one of the world's most famous symphonic technical metal bands.... but I think her personality will start to come out more and more. She used to OWN the internet before she joined the band, and I only learned of the band due to being Fami's fan previous to her even auditioning for the band.
This is my favorite Lovebites song too. It deserves their highest score to date. So complex, so fast, and so good. Asami at her best, Midori and Miyako at their best, Haruna at her best, and Fami at her best (for what she had to work with since the bass parts for the most part were already written). It will be hard for them to top this.

Wow 9.5 (I was at a 9.2) I wouldn't have thought it, the song is really great but "only" the album version 😁. I know for sure that this song will be overwhelming "live" with atmosphere. I'm glad it wasn't a live video, otherwise it wouldn't be 9.5 but probably 9.2. Unless the 5 would now jump across the stage like jumping jacks :) which I find hard to imagine. David is just on something like that.
Until the release of this song I refused to rank Lovebites songs, because for me everything they released up to that point had its own strong point, each different, each unique. But then I heard this at the end of Judgment Day. I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion. It is the best thing I have ever heard from them. I was really hoping that you would say something to that effect because I’d have been disappointed with anything less. It cements your standing as a person to pay attention to.
@@THEDavidHeretic I saw Maiden 2x and Priest; the staple guitar duos of 80s metal. Those guys have been doing it for 40yrs+. M&M play much faster, more complicated and longer harmonies (just my opinion), and have only been doing it for 8yrs. The universe is the limit for them is how I see it...if they stay together of course. 🤘

To be honest, I was losing interest about Lovebites because I thought most of their song sound so similar in my opinion (Great Quality, but I love some diversities.) But I think this song is exceptional even though it has similar style.

This is not a video from Lovebites per se. The ladies did a LIVE stream for their new album just before it was released and a UA-camr recorded excerpts of certain songs from that stream, which I'm glad he or she did. This is the best we've got so far as there's no official MV or LIVE footage of this track yet.

I might have given it a score that is a couple of points higher, but I'm happy that you gave it a 9.5. I can't say that it's my favorite song of theirs, but it's definitely in the top few. I generally love the songs that Miyako writes (she wrote this one) more than others. I'm also a big fan of classical music and Miyako often includes motifs from classical songs in her compositions. I don't believe she did that with this song (at least I haven't been able to find any), but she does in many of her songs. I don't know if you know this or not, but has a solo EP coming out on June 21st. On it, she has arranged well-known metal songs in a classical piano style. She said that she wanted to show how similar metal is to classical. She has a music video out now in which she plays Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free" as a classical piano piece. It's really breathtaking. Nice to see someone really appreciate the work LITTLE BIG ENGINE puts in. She is a great drummer! Don't forget, she got you so excited that you turned red laughing at her skill. Also, you will most definitely hear another song that bumps this one. They are just good songwriters. They write great songs and good songs, never bad songs!
They stood, not solitarily, but together, and delivered! ;) Personally, I don't think I could pick just one single song by Lovebites and say that this is my overall favourite, because the closer I get to the top, the closer the margins get until they become non-existent. What I can say is that this song and the preceding "Dissonance" are my favourite songs on "Judgement Day" and definitely also among my overall faves. I'd also say Asami's vocals on this song really stand out, but I'd say the same about her vocals in "Dissonance" (even though for slightly different reasons). I definitely also love the energy and virtuosity of this song. It was fun seeing how you enjoyed the song and also explained why. Already the length of this clip suggested that this was something special.

As for "Soldier Stands Solitarily", I had a demo of it when I was working on the "Glory, Glory, to the World" EP (2021).
It had a completely different shape than this one, except for the chorus.
The chorus was punchy and had a good melody, so I wasn't satisfied with it as it was.
This time, I restructured it and reincarnated it.
In Miyako's mind, she thought the BPM was too fast, so Miyako said in her mind to Haruna(Dr), "I'm sorry," "If you lower this BPM, it will feel different!" she said.
So in Miyako's mind, Miyako said, "Haruna can play at this BPM," and"If you don't play like this, it won't sound cool!"
With that in mind, Miyako entered the bass line into the software.
Japanese women and children hold up the index fingers of both hands and place them on either side of their head in a "demon" or "ogre" pose, making a "I'm so angry!" and make a kawaii expression.
"Demon" or "ogre" is the Japanese word for "oni".("oni"="鬼"👹).
At an album presentation at her home, Miyako said, "Asami & Haruna, I'm sorry! and wrote it down and projected it on the screen.
The belt Miyako requested for Asami was too high and the BPM Miyako requested for Haruna was too fast, so I think Miyako lovingly apologized to Asami and Haruna with a handwritten message panel on the screen.

That one trick pony explanation was hilarious, and so true when it comes to M&M. This song is the album closer and I can't wait to see how they perform it live either, especially Haruna's fill, my goodness that fill is epic! Break The Wall is still my favorite from Lovebites cuz that song has some of the best transitions I've heard from them and the contrasting solos from M&M are just glorious in that song along with Haruna's drum rolls, but this one is definitely up there for me as well. Fami's bass part coming out of the solos is something that I wouldn't have even noticed in the past but from watching your reactions and learning more about music I have an appreciation for it now. Great interview with Rant and Chill btw, I never knew about that definition of the word heretic before, but it makes sense.
I hope this song is part of the next concert video set. I will be awesome to see them do this song and project the energy into the crowd with this song. Thunder Vengeance (because it introduced me to Lovebites) is still my favorite, but this song is the a level higher and is my favorite and gets me pumped up every time I hear it! Great Reaction and score!!!! "Wicked Witch" is Fami's favorite because she had to play bass in a way she never did before, so it was a new experience for her in that song.

They don't use that trick on Victim of Time. All dual and listen how Haruna triples on the first part of the solo. Probably one of my favorites of theirs and likely some of Haruna's best work. This one. SSS the speed is just insane. Told you bass player to bass player Fami fits in.

Not sure about this track as an opening song? It is so mind blowing that even other Lovebites songs, would sound rather tame and slow. Although unlikely, it may strain Asami's voice right at the start of the gig.

Miyako created a great song but Asami and Haruna really blasted this one. M&M as usual and Fami was quietly holding it down, but again Haruna and that cymbals work that is becoming legendary. Geeking out David is always a riot especially when it is over Lovebites. The Wolfpack is rabid from the band alone and they don't need any help.
Nice reaction. Regarding the pre-chorus (setup), I disagree with the need for that. One thing that Lovebites is amazing at is the flow of their songs. Every transition is so smooth, and not every transition needs some sort of a distinct cut to the next place. The formula works because the two playing the guitar are elite, and unique. This is a great song, but my personal high score is "Judgement Day" which took over from "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath".

"Soldier Stands Solitarily" (My favorite song of the album) was originally written for the EP "Glory, Glory to the World" but did not make the final cut. Miyako said she felt the melody, particulary the chorus, was too good to reject completely. So she rearranged it for this album, and said it came out 100 times better.
Miyako also chose the song as the best guitar track on the album.

Because they are women, doing heavy metal in a feminine way that i like.
Not only wearing beautiful stage dresses, but also have some "female lyrics", i think men wouldn't write the same.
The music of this song is by Miyako, she has the beauty and the talent.
Lovebites last album is not my favourite from the band, but… this song is my favourite from them. Speed, melody is astonishiing. The Midori solo is hands down the best I have heard from them, specially the tapping part at the start, and never fails to give me chills down my spine. It’s funny because I like Miyako’s playing style better. An absolute banger… I hope they add this song in their future setlists. I reckon this is a perfect last song for a show
It's weird to see Fami so researched in this video... I think she was still, at this time, very overwhelmed to be not only a member of a metal band, suddenly, but one of the world's most famous symphonic technical metal bands.... but I think her personality will start to come out more and more. She used to OWN the internet before she joined the band, and I only learned of the band due to being Fami's fan previous to her even auditioning for the band.

This is my favorite Lovebites song too. It deserves their highest score to date. So complex, so fast, and so good. Asami at her best, Midori and Miyako at their best, Haruna at her best, and Fami at her best (for what she had to work with since the bass parts for the most part were already written). It will be hard for them to top this.

I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion. It is the best thing I have ever heard from them. I was really hoping that you would say something to that effect because I’d have been disappointed with anything less. It cements your standing as a person to pay attention to.
I'm pretty sure that Haruna's fills are inspired on brazilian style of drumming more like Aquiles Priester on his time in Angra to be more specific.

@@THEDavidHeretic I saw Maiden 2x and Priest; the staple guitar duos of 80s metal. Those guys have been doing it for 40yrs+. M&M play much faster, more complicated and longer harmonies (just my opinion), and have only been doing it for 8yrs. The universe is the limit for them is how I see it...if they stay together of course. 🤘

To be honest, I was losing interest about Lovebites because I thought most of their song sound so similar in my opinion (Great Quality, but I love some diversities.) But I think this song is exceptional even though it has similar style.

This is not a video from Lovebites per se. The ladies did a LIVE stream for their new album just before it was released and a UA-camr recorded excerpts of certain songs from that stream, which I'm glad he or she did. This is the best we've got so far as there's no official MV or LIVE footage of this track yet.
