As a Bills fan, I’m praying that Travis doesn’t go to the Pats. I’ve only just become accustomed to winning the division every season after Brady nearly ruined football for me.
What people don't understand is Travis is a go getter. He sees the ball and he's the best at getting to it. Better than any wide receiver and better than any cornerback. That being said him trying to be on both sides hurts his technique at each position. His refinement at each position can't happen because he's doing too much. That being said I'd at least try it. His motor is special
When all the position groups meet separately, but at the same time, how is Travis hunter going to attend meetings for both positions? That’s the most basic logistical issue that I see no one asking
It's like that Bill Belichick interview where he points out that you can't even be a long snapper or holder while being a skill position anymore because it's so specialized. I couldn't imagine playing both ways.
@@mtndude96the expectation isn’t for him to start at both positions but he can contribute on both sides. He’ll most likely follow the deion sanders path
I can see 80 snaps/game allocated based on need and matchup. Against a team like the bengals you play him more at DB but against a team like the Niners you use him more on offense
I think a good idea is just to have him play situationally per game. Which is more needed that game, defender or receiver? That seems like it could work well, even throwing him in on the other side of the ball for a few snaps each game as well.
Travis was asked at the Heisman ceremony if he understands that so many people love watching him play (really dumb and confusing question btw) and his response was “I’m obsessed with myself so I understand it”. Not joking. This is one of the most uniquely unlikable human beings to enter the NFL in my lifetime.
Look back at each draft and it is rare for the number 1 pick to be the best player from that draft. picking the best player isn't always the right move for a team.
I usually agree with rich...hunter is the most overrated player in this draft...he wont be playing against colorodo st and north dakota state in the nfl...thinking he can play well at both spots is just stupid, 0% chance it happens.
I never thought I would see the bum at the corner store commenting on a UA-cam video let alone on a topic he doesn’t even have the wherewithal or evidence to support his claim …. Crazy work
yall see what the media is doing? Laying the groundwork for these Top 2 picks who need QBs, telling the public they aren't taking a QB. Where in this draft, the drop off from Shedeur and Cam to the next guy guy after them at QB, IS SO FAR!
This happens EVERY year. and what's sad is, it works. Media bias ends up screwing with the minds of scouts, GMs and owners. 2021 - Trey Lance: After a single good year at NDSU (FCS), and only 17 games in college, picked #3 overall. Since, has been traded and only played 12 total games in 4 years. 2022 - Kenny Pickett: After 1 good play in college, and above average stats at best, was picked 20th overall. He's since been traded and played 1 game this year as a backup in Philly. He's on that Blaine Gabbert career trajectory. Brock Purdy (the literal last pick in the draft) was the best QB selected in 2022. 2023 - Anthony Richardson: Looked great throwing in gym shorts, with no pressure, to wide open resources, after an awful year at Florida. He's big and strong, and people said "UF didn't have anybody that year to help, he's great!". Picked #4 overall. Has looked awful since being in the NFL, and is injured more often than not. He has more INTs than TDs so far in his career. And for every hype story, there's a story that crashes someone's draft stock. Sanders holds onto the ball too long sometimes (a la Caleb Williams). Cam Ward is probably the best QB. What'll happen is there'll be some guy like from a top 40 school that was barely on TV, that ends up being pretty legit like a Purdy. Not saying a superstar, but someone decent picked in round 5, because GMs/owners finally listen to scouts in those later rounds
Is he the best cornerback you’ve ever seen? No. Is he the best receiver you’ve ever seen? No. Will he play both positions in the NFL full-time to make up for not being outstanding at either? No. So what the hell are we talking about?
This is how I feel. His stock is as high as it is based on his 2-way play, but that’s not going to be a thing for him long term in the NFL. I wouldn’t be surprised is he’s full time at just 1 position in season 2.
Last WR drafted #1 was Keyshawn Johnson in 1996. Last CB drafted #1 was Gary Glick in 1956. Kid's talented, but he isn't going #1. Titans would be idiots to do it...
Whatever a team need is what they will draft. Travis will be the 1st defensive player gone. To be #1 overall, it depends on what the team really needs. I wouldn't be surprised if a trade happens before the draft. A 1 thru 4 pick team can get multiple players for their draft pick. A team that's multiple players away from being a contender may think about trading their high pick for a multi player trade.
Trade back with the Giants and then take Hunter. Then watch the Giants and Browns both ruin the careers of whichever quarterbacks they draft. Sanders and Cam Ward should refuse to sign with them.
True that..but against grown man doing what to him? If he doesn't get most plays coming at him on defense it'll be more like him doing nothing. The physicality will come on offense, but he can be smart like Marvin Harrison and play smart to last. He took what the defense gave and got down or got out of bounds. He can do what deion did and last a long time by playing smart on defense. If he was playing Running back then Linebacker then he wouldn't be able to do it.
If I was Tennessee I would call Cleveland and both NY teams and ask what can you give me for #1. Run it back with Levis and grab a qb in a trade, free agency or when the draft has better prospects.
If I'm Tennessee I would like to give Levis 3 years into his rookie contract. I 99% take a blue chip guy and try to build assets to make a complete team. Unless the new coach I believe can ascend a good qb prospect like Sanders or Ward. I just don't see Tennessee having assets around a rookie qb to be able to grow. You draft hunter and make him a playmaker on offense. Target him 10x a game and let him play 3rd Downs at CB.
Still trying to comprehend why a middling QB on a middling team that occasionally beats middling power conference teams is supposed to be the #1 draft pick. Travis Hunter deserves a #1 pick because he is the best available player. The Sanders children (yes, children), don't belong in the draft at all.
“If you think this rail thin and emotionally soft teenager will have no injury issues playing every snap in every NFL game for years, then how is he not the #1 overall pick?” Rich, are you serious? Is that actually your question? Well, fine, if all of that WERE or even could be true, take him #1. The reason this is a conversation is because that absolutely could not be true. And it’s why no team worth their salt will take him with that purpose in mind.
We're all praying that the offices of the Browns and Titans are too stupid to realize that drafting a QB in the top 5 is really the only way to actually turn a terrible franchise around. Have fun with Hunter for 5 years while you lose 87% of all games.
Going to have to disagree with you there. First this draft isn't great when it comes to Qbs. It's really not. I'd trade back if a desperate team comes along and gives up a plethora of picks to move up. if you want to be successful start by building through the trenches. If you can't get pressure on the QB or protect your own QB, you're not winning anything. Me personally, if i were a GM, I'd just keep recycling cheap QBs every few years (when their rookie contract is up) and just build and pay for the talent around them. Top $ QB contracts for mid play have gotten ridiculous IMO last few years
Julian Edelman played both positions on the Pats but he started at CB and turned into a receiving option for Brady. But one guy doing it all? Wouldn't the dude be exhausted if he's playing defensive and offensive snaps?
Whomever takes Travis Hunter in the draft, and has him constantly on both sides of the ball IN THE NFL, he will have a ton of injuries and a very short career.
