Just a quick disclaimer - heat soak held me back massively in the first part of this video. Perhaps a 7hr non-stop drive from Monaco to the German border wasn’t the smartest of ideas…Take a look at how much harder the car pulls in the second part of this video!
Csf charge cooler radiator would have helped a bit.
You did well but it’s surprising how long it takes to reach top speed. Definitely a fair bit left.

Only with ethanol cars made 730bhp

Word of advice mate. Having that camera mounted on your window like that is seriously dangerous! If you crash that's headed straight for your head, and is likely to impede the air bag curtain too. Michael Schumacher was wearing a go pro attached to his helmet when he had his skiing accident... It was the go pro that did all the damage. Better to be safe mate 👍🏻

@@Richjtj completely missing the point here mate. Your chances of survival are severely diminished at ANY speed when you have pointy objects within touching distance of your head. To add to that, in modern cars a crash at 180mph on a motorway isn't a death sentence, but it definitely is with that camera where it is.
Not going to matter really driving 200mph not much chance you will survive that

I found a 'second' limiter at 192mph. Tuners didn't know about this limiter at the time but it can now be removed by anyone who knows what they're doing.
For gearbox preservation ?
I'd love to know why, there must be a part that bmw expect to fail at that speed
@@Will_M600 The DQ250 is limited to 7500rpm on the GTI for gearbox safety , probably is something similar
prevent from an engine broke, prevent for your tyres to be damaged , i think they do on a purpose, they know something which we dont know

Someone worked out the gear ratio to redline rpm years ago and with the standard ZF box, it maxes out at I believe 195mph. So unless you change the gearbox you will never get to 200. But its still good fun trying.
EDIT: Did some research into the ZF8 hp50 which is fitted as standard, with a 7K max rpm in 8th gear, the theoretical top speed is actually 285..99 mph. Due to the 0.64 gear ratio and the 2.81 ratio diff on standard tyres. Now unless you are on a rolling road, good luck getting the brick shaped 140 over 200.
Nah your wrong there, u believe 195mph was the max on the old 6 speed gearbox in the e92 era, these zf8 speeds are geared insanely long, the 188mph was done in 7th gear, still had another gear to go. For reference towards the end of the video 110mph in 8th gear was under 3k revs, meaning 220mph would be under 6k revs, of course this car would never hit those speeds but gearing isn't an issue

@@johnjackson2349these won’t and can’t pull the 8th gear. No matter how much power. 8th gear is more of an overdrive gear. These cars max out in the 7th gear. Speaking frkm personal experience

Top effort and mega fast for an M140i What tyres are you running? Make sure they are rated for the speed. Over 186 MPH they need to be (Y) tyres not just Y. You wouldn’t want a tyre to fail at those speeds

Wonder would the pure 850 help with a bit more top end, push you into the 190s, imo the aerodynamics of car is holding you back.

I've done 189 on my stage 2 2017 540i that gets almost 500hp. It took me 6 miles of straight to do so. I really wanna see a B58 get 200mph. Would need to do a lot more to mine to get that extra 10. Maybe gearing change?

Nice! I've not watched the channel in like over 7 months, probably more like a year as been out of the car stuff and this is the first video I come back to. That 188 run was crazy and I'm curious what the cars in the rear dashcam looked like as they disappeared into the distance. Definitely missed a fair amount of content but reached out to you previously like a year ago with something in case you wanted to add some quality subtitles to the channel and never heard back so I guess you weren't interested and that's fair enough. Shmee's team weren't either but there was another youtuber in the space who said he would if I was able to meet a certain rate but been too busy to practice that further :)

XHP transmission flash gives the option. Definitely worth doing for even a lightly modified car, completely transforms the way it drives.

Do you notice any difference between the 102Ron fuel and ours back home? I have a golf R, run it on premium unleaded (97Ron) but don’t notice any difference at all.
Chasing times I’d say higher octane fuel is worth it but if you just drive fast for the feel I wouldn’t bother paying the extra

Your a brave guy. I've owned both a M135i (N55) and M140i and they are very unsteady at high speed. Under high load the front end raises causing total loss in steering feel. Car felt like a straight line weapon but it never felt confident.
Then something is wrong with your M140i. I drive mine regualry over 150+ MPH, and you can drive with one hand off the steering wheel, because its so stable.

@@nadd10 Here in the UK, the condition of our roads are terrible. They are full of pot holes with tarmac only being laid on areas that are being driven on. The pot holes are not only caused by the high amount of rainfall we get but also poor maintenance schedules by our council/highways dept. This is driven by cost savings which in turn provide large bonuses for the senior bosses.

That’s pretty unremarkable for 740~ hp. My M3 with 500hp did 179 gps 182 indicated and I ran out of room, was still pulling

Besides the 250kmh limiter There is a second speed limiter at 300 kmh which is ca 188mph:
I think this limiter is still active in your car.
For 188mph / 300km/h you need only about 420hp
With 470hp you already reach 310-315kmh

It's the 'hatchback' aerodynamics holding it back. Hence why the mclaren speedtail has the shape it does. The more abrupt a line change on a cars bodywork, the greater the form drag.
