    Been feeding my dogs partially raw for almost a year now and they love it. I say partially raw as it's part raw and part kibble. That way there's still some meal prep but I don't have to go overboard and they still get super excited every time for dinner. I tried going all raw for a while but they actually would stop eating it and fully expected kibble. So that's just how it works for me.

      the only reason people raw feed is because it's easier,
      it's very low in nutrition compared with cooked,
      can you imagine your dog with blood on its mouth, salmonella licking your kids hands and face when you're not looking 😰

    I'm so pleased and relieved to have found your channel - thank you for the level of detail you put into your videos.
    A 5 year old dog I recently adopted went into heat within one week and "unfortunately" became impregnated by one of my other two male dogs (also both adopted strays) as I didn't get them separated soon enough. Eight puppies were born last night and all seem to be doing just fine, though I haven't intruded into their quiet spot too much yet other than to supply mom with plenty of food and water, clean up duties, etc.
    It's quite a nerve-wracking experience for me, it being my first experience of a litter. I am very motivated to give them all the best start in life that I can but I know that I physically and financially won't be able to keep all 8 of them. Two maybe and that would take my total up to five dogs and I already have 8 cats. Sorry to ramble but I just wanted to say about my concern with them most probably not being continued on an all meat diet if and when they are re-homed and the kind of stress that they will most likely go on to experience suddenly transitioning from an all-meat diet to one of more convenience - kibble/canned food/etc.
    Has anyone had experience of such transitions and their effects or am I worrying over nothing? I live in Italy now but am from the UK and, whilst I don't want to anger any Italians out there, the way that dogs in the countryside are looked upon and looked after out here falls a bit short of what I my experience of dog-owners' attitudes were in the UK. Therefore, I think that me finding "suitable" new owners will be difficult and this may mean that I'll have them for longer than the 2 months I had planned, meaning that they will be very accustomed to their raw meat!

    • @kelseywhitaker6565

      You can always feed them half raw and half kibble! That way their system will be prepared for whatever their new owner decides to feed.

    Hi I just had a question. I've been feeding my kitten pmr since I got her at 8 weeks and she's been doing great. I used to feed her 5 times a day since she would eat very little at one time so I had to give more smaller meals. She just turned 4 months old and I've made it 4 times a day about every 5 hours (7.30am-10.30pm). I feed her 8% of her body weight but today she was meowing for food even though there were two hours till her next mealtime. I gave in and fed her and she finished almost all of it meaning she was actually hungry. Now I'm not sure what to do if this happens again. I've heard kittens should be allowed to eat whenever they want since they're growing so should I keep her mealtimes or feed her if shes hungry earlier?

    About how many animals would have to be treated like a commodity, killed and slaughtered to feed one 50 lb dog raw for 15 years? Is there a way to feed whole foods that causes less collateral damage? I don't doubt feeding raw is healthier than dry kibble. But dry kibble uses a lot of waste from human food processing and vegetable matter. Is there a way to feed fresh that just uses animal waste products and plants?

    • @PawsofPrey
      @PawsofPrey  Рік тому +3

      I definitely understand where you're coming from. But unfortunately the answer is getting an animal that only consumes plant matter and vegetation. When you have a carnivorous pet, you're doing a disservice to them to feed poor quality ingredients just because they won't instantly die from it. In a way, feeding kibble is supporting the inhumane practices of the commercial meat industry because kibble companies use those low-quality off-cuts from it. They are supporting that industry.
      If you want to raise your dog, cat, or ferret on the best diet possible for their body, but also want to do it in the most humane way possible, then sourcing from local farms that give their animals a good life and diet before slaughter is the best route. You will be feeding many of those same off-cuts that the commercial meat industry would use, but you can feel good knowing that it came from a healthy animal that was raised well. And that YOU are the one in control of the ingredients in your pet's diet!
      This is the way I look at it.

Extra meat would probably be given to the poor before dogs. Dogs seemed to have have evolved and have 28 fold more amylase activity than wolves.
      If you look at how dogs were feed in ancient Greece.etc., they seemed to eat a plant based diet supplemented with animal products and weren’t feed much meat.
