What is that little red timer at the end of the platform for? You can see it at 1:18, where it begins to count up from 0 once the back of the train passes it. Is it for headway management or something? I’ve never seen anything like that before.

It is for headway management, and if it’s under 4 minutes the operator has to call LCC.

@@acela2150 ah, I see. I assume they have to call LCC if the headway is too short because the section of track just past that timer is the ground-level, street-running section, and they don’t want trains to get too close together on that portion of track?

      @@OliversElevators you are correct.

@@acela2150 interesting. Is the ground-level section the only part of the line that’s not traditionally “signaled”? The only signals I see on the ground-level portion of the line are the signals at each intersection that tell the operator whether or not it’s clear to proceed through the intersection. How is the rest of the line signaled?

@@OliversElevators if you want to read on that specific section and the signaling. Here is a link to Seattle transit blog.

Want evidence of low ridership - look at these videos

Surely you jest mr Love - not only did this particular rediculous system cost billions to build - which voters turned down by the way - the "non elected" entity then jerimandered the voting cutting out no vote areas - but it doesnt even pay its own operational costs with fares. From a green perspective it is a total loser not only due to the massive construction CO2 but the ridership is pathetic so moving these often near empty trains is near a total waste of CO2. I am pretty sure you wouldn't have any sort of basis for your logic; or should I say lack of logic?

I thought Sound Transit Light Rail was only empty during off hours - if this were typical its totally underutilized even during rush hour. A total of 3 passengers at this stop; this is RUSH hour. This is the classic Multi Billion dollar boondoggle, with no consequence for failure for the promotors.. A massive disservice to the taxpayers and one more burden individuals and businesses can reduce by leaving the area. This is what destroys a city from the inside out.

Public transportation destroys a city? I have seen incompetent comments but yours truly takes the cake.
