I got this the other day to replace a tool set i got when i was 15. Now i plan on getting the husky ratcheting sets and missing tools this set didn't have. It definitely saves ya some money if ya just need basics
I really do think for the price it gets you going and then you add a little of what you need

I bought a couple of these, one for in-laws garage, and one for me to grab on the go. The real test, is when you have to do a minor unexpected repair or two, either on car or around the house. It's worked ok for light use, but I reach for my good stuff when I have to do a REAL repair.

So far I'm happy with my Husky tools. It started with needing 10mm sockets and the Depot was on my way to/from work. I now have various Husky sockets mixed in and on some sale I picked up the 144-tooth ratchets. Those are now my normal use.
They are a decent priced tool and easy to aquire
Around Christmas they had their 289 piece set for 109 with an extra Allen wrench set. The 289 is organized a lot better using the same 3 drawer system. I bought 3 of these. They are now $129 on Home Depot. Not an amazing deal, but a good deal. Super light weight. Easy to throw around and super easy find what you are looking for. I have never had the sockets fall out of their spots. I’d say wait for Christmas but I don’t think they’re going to reduce the price again since the box in this video is a completely new design. It looks like they’re trying to cut some corners in order to keep the set around $100.

It's strange to me that all of these kits with 1/2 inch ratchets don't realize that there are really only 5-6 sizes we need deeps and shorts in, and those sizes are effectively 19mm-26mm, anything under 19mm, 3/8" handles pretty easily.
Decent buy at $99, but it is sure missing a lot of sockets that I would use in a normal scenario. No 12mm deep 3/8" drive? Come on!
The full set is the 289 piece set. It is the original 3 drawer exactly like this. The chest in the video cuts corners in order to keep the set around 100. This is because everything nowadays cost a lot more. The original is 129 on Home Depot now. Read my other comment.

I had a mechanic tool set of craftsman g1 and g2 series sockets and ratchets and 4 combination raised panel usa made wrenches it was like 153pc to 165pc the the ratchets layed vertical in the bottom of the case and the 4 wrenches and I believe two extensions were the only things in the top of the lid, got it around like 1994-97 for Christmas..
I love those sets I have one in my car and it has always had what I needed
I got one of these back around Christmas of last year to keep in the house for putting furniture and other crap together and it's a great lil set for the price. However I will add that I bought another one last week and it only came with 8 wrenches and the previous one came with 10.
Seems to be that, a few more wrenches would mean a lot
Anyways even though it would have cost more than this 270pc set the better deal on the drawer type ones were the 268pc and the 290pc mechanic tool set husky brand and in my opinion it's probably closer to $165 for it but I would suggest the husky brand h194mts mechanic tool set that I have..

Oh and if you like the bit Dr screwdriver comfort grip handle then you need to check out the husky brand torque wrench assortment they have the comfort grip just like the screwdrivers and bit driver handle..

I personally,would only buy a cheap set for the car in case of emergencies,and spend no more than 40 bucks for it.With 100 bucks,I would buy a 3/8 drive shallow metric impact Williams set and Ratchet that are made in USA..You may find no use for sae,since cars will pretty much be all metric.A basic SAE set of sockets would most likely be all you will ever need in SAE.
I find use for sae with the equipment i work on but everyone needs different tools
My h149,mts husky brand tool set has the better Allen key holders.. the h194mts set has the craftsman type plastic pouches.
I do not like the plastic pouches always scrambling tp find the right size
Think this beats the 232 piece by gearwrench for $199?
The gearwrench is a good set, this is half the price when its on sale, making it a budget box
can i have a list of all the sae sizes?
Socket sizes? Which drive size?
