    A great clearly presented video! I'm hoping I might be able to get in touch with you just to ask if it's possible to adapt this same pass through system, on say a rotary phone converted from pulse to tone.

    I’m confused there should only be one cable connected to the LAN hole? Or else 2 cables at the same time will damage the voip phone?

    there is a scenatio that if they use that setup PORT >> U if we remove the phone and plug the computer directly into the network it works fine. The phone is causing issue?IP PHONE >> COMPUTER the computer is getting the IP from the network but it is not authenticating.. but when they remove the phone and directly connect it to the computer it works just fine.. is there an configuration on IP phone that is halting the connectiio passing throug PC?

    I am going from modem to phone to pc. Only one device will obtain an ip address and connect. Does it not work with a modem with one ethernet out?

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  3 роки тому

      Travis. Since your modem only has one Ethernet port on it, it may not be capable of giving out more than one IP. You need a router.

    For the connection from PC's ethernet port to VoIP Telephone's PC port you've shown. I assume that this connection will have a separate IP address for PC and seperate IP address for VoIP phone itself, so total 2 IP addresses. Is this correct understanding please?.

    Hi I'm going to ask a very dumb question, so please bare with me. I am going to begin a job in a work at home call center. I have VOIP thru Xfinity but I also have to be hard wired into the computer. If I use a VOIP phone will that solve my problem?

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  5 років тому

      forgive me, I may not be understanding your question. But, this role you are describing (WFH agent) is becoming very common.
      I do a lot if work with companies like Ring Central, 8x8, Fuse, etc. which provides the services for this job.
      Anyway, typically the agent uses one of three ways to connect to the inbound callers
      1. a company-provided voip phone. 2. a company-provided software phone. 3. route the calls to the agents home phone.
      what is confusing me about your question is the part about being hard-wired into the computer. Do you mean the network has to be hardwired to the computer? Or, a wires USB headset for voice?

      @@VoIPTelecom When you do a call center job at home, they do NOT allow Bluetooth or similar headset (comm) connection, it must be wired. I'm guessing the OP wants to use Voip instead of her personal landline, but I'm also thinking, she may not be "allowed" to use Voip for inbound calls, right? It's a security issue isn't it?

    If my computer receives wifi can I switch this around to where my computer gives the phone internet? The reason I ask is because I don't have an extra space on my switchboard to add another Ethernet cable and I need to add another phone. If this isn't possible do you know if I can just use a wifi adapter or something?

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  7 років тому

      Could you do this easily? NO. Could it be done? Yes, if you had a lot of time and a lot of know-how, you could set your computer up as a router and then make the phone share the access to the Internet via the network port on your Laptop. They do make Wifi-to-hardwire adpters that *might* suit this purpose. I've never tried it.
      Excelent question though. Thanks for posting.

    so how does both the phone and computer obtain an IP address from the one network port?

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  5 років тому +1

      Great question. The two RJ-45 outlets on the bottom of the phone are really just a two-port switch. So the upstream switch (or router) sees those as two, independent connections.

    I can't believe anybody actually has to ask this. The ports are clearly labelled. The only problem with connecting a PC this way is very often the phone will only have a 100BaseT connection so you won't get Gigabit Ethernet to the PC.

    Would it be a possibility that i could share the network from the computer to the phone insted of the wall socket rj45?

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  4 роки тому

      Its is generally done by going from the wall outlet to the phone. Then out of the phone to the computer. I suppose you could buy a small 4-port switch and then go from the wall outlet to the switch. Then run a cable each to the PC and the phone separately.

      Gabriel, thanks for your question. Well, there's a lot of variables here. For instance Cisco makes phones that are designed to work with Cisco's "Call Manager". But, they also make phones that are designed to work with cloud-hosted VoIP services too.
      If it's the latter scenario, then yes it should work with your cable Internet. However, the phone needs to be "registered" with a VoIP provider like 8x8 or Callcentric in order to make and receive calls.
      Great question. thanks for posting!

    • @gabrieljennier5534

      VoIP Tech to register with 1 of those, do i need to pay.

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  7 років тому

      Generally, YES. However, if you look hard enough, there may still be a few freebie VOIP account providers out there. Try doing internet searches for "Free SIP account". SIP is another term for a type of VOIP service.

    At 1:51 I see another smaller port on the back of the phone. What does that port do?

    • @VoIPTelecom
      @VoIPTelecom  8 років тому

      hey, good to hear from you again. Your insightful comments and questions ARE appreciated. The small RJ-22 with the black cord going into it was the curly cord to the handset. But that extra, empty RJ-11 near the bottom is an AUX port. And, a lot of people immediately assume you can use that to get audio out/in. It's really just for adding auxiliary key lamp modules (aka "Side Cars). :-)

    • @phoneguy1015

      What might people try to use that port for?
