Captain Disillusion is the only UA-cam creator that I am confident in liking the video before it even starts. Everything churned out from this channel is a masterpiece and will always be a great watch. It's just a shame that all the effort, skill and persistence that is put into these videos doesn't appease the fickle UA-cam algorithm.
I was actually thinking it's weird that we actually hear the ball hit the can at the beginning before he even got to it, and I thought he was gonna talk about that, but we still can hear it from far away and the fact that he measured the distance and all that and got to the delayed sound is more clever and impressive.

your videos are just unbelievably well produced and entertaining that even with 0 interest in all the topics you discuss i still cant find a second to be bored
Your style has gotten remarkable over the years! I always loved how you captured that "90's" feeling, but yet you make it feel modern. maybe it's more 80's. idk still love the style! that was beyond more insight than i was expecting from this video. well done. I thought I could spot fake videos, but there is so much to VFX to still learn about.
I guess I'll never get the chance to say this to you as "directly" as this, but your intro is absolutely awesome (as is your whole channel and every single video)
I just can't get over the sheer amount of effort and quality you put in every single one of your videos. I've followed you for years and adore your content.
it's one of the few remaining channels where videos require a high time investment directly in their production (i.e. it isn't just a recap of an external high-effort project), and this effort is put towards something useful, instead of scriptwriting for a five hour video essay by a polisci undergrad about the backyardigans.
@@stdcall A good video essay about the Backyardigans sounds excellent and I’d love to watch that. Interesting, fun things don’t need to be “useful” to be valuable. But I agree that channels that specifically endeavor to provide novel experiences are rarer on UA-cam today. This doesn’t mean they don’t exist though, they certainly do. I just think Captain’s storytelling and “commitment to the bit” on top of the VFX expertise is absurdly well done, which is an unusual combination in general. Channels concerned with “technical concepts” on UA-cam do frequently lack the silliness and depth of artistry on display here, but that comes with the territory.
@@apt_get i meant 'useful' more to separate technical artistry (i.e. vfx) from the softer kind of work (critical analysis). apart from value provided, building a house more definitely requires a certain work threshold than finding allegories in children's shows, and whatever lessons there are are less ambiguously imparted. this channel /is/ fairly unique in that, i think -- there are animation channels that might have more work put in per frame, and DIYers that do literally build houses on video, but in CD's case, the effort is /not/ a critical component in the actual goal (education) like it is for animation, nor does the output exist in any capacity outside of the produced video (like it does for a DIY project). sorry it took a while to read your response, i was on vacation. banff, alberta is lovely this time of year.

@@CoercedJab Haha. I guess I was being hyperbolic a bit. Not everything, every single second is toxic, but if I had to come up with a metric describing qualitatively and comprehensively the average UA-cam video/content and then track it from back when CD started to now, I think we'd all agree his has maintained level or even went up compared to the vast majority of other channels which, over the years, have either gone down or started well below in the first place. I can't blame them, but when making videos and livelihoods mix, it's not a pretty dance in the long run. CD, though, has been the rare exception and I'm very appreciative of that.

Thank you for being a sight for sore eyes, Cap!
"Content"
There's your problem.
Is it? There’s more high quality and educational content than we’ve ever had before, maybe you’re just looking in the wrong places.
@@steven401ytx was a blanket term but i hear ya
@@bonitoflakes Hey, I mean it. If you’re looking for interesting educational content, there’s more available than you could ever get around to watching. Once you start watching some, the algorithm should start recommending more to you.
@@JamEngulfer I know how to find them, my point wasn't about that. Quality content being more abundant is overshadowed by the rampant influx of low-tier content along with over-saturation, AI, sponsors, ads, etc. The water is muddier than ever before, that's all.
I was asking to myself what was missing in my life, now i know it was one of your videos. Nice one as always.
The last scene was kind of Emotional (To me atleast). Captain thinking that he should have been on a better career path and trying to make his younger self understand. Your Content is Gold captain. Don't ever stop posting.
youtube doesnt deserve your high quality and effort making each video, well done CD!
Guess that’s why there’s 6 months between every video
@@j.nilsson5362 good things take time. i wish youtube promoted quality like this, instead of quantity, and the pumping out of pretty much useless reaction videos
@@johnnykyr3403 i wish more people wasn't so selfish and learned how to share.
how often to you actually send links and demand someone watch something?
no wonder good creators can't make it and no wonder we have to rely on old guards who got big early and int your feeds.
youtube isn't to blame for your grievance here.
Anyone catch the funny nod to the Humane AI pin at 0:18 ? It's hilarious that in just a few seconds he's able to fully demonstrate how clunky and unusable such a device would be.
Oh my god, that's true.
No, I am lobotomized and wasn't capable of identifying that as the Humane AI pin given its shape and mode of operation.
Incredible… each of your videos is better than the one before… Thanks for these moments
You’re a true UA-cam unicorn: you make fantastic videos without the lie that doing so is super fun and easy. You’re actually honest about how hard life and work is, and about how difficult it can be to know if the things we do matter. Thank you!
Your video is like an old friend stopping by and hanging out on a Friday night. Thank you for all the years of knowledge and entertainment.
just as i got high
Did it make the video better or worse?
Lol same
BLAZE IT
Wish I was as cool as you
I wasn't gonna watch UA-cam but then...
I've been watching and enjoying you content since my 20s, they make me feel at home, it's hard to explain, but thank you so much for doing such a great job every time!!
all these years later and you are still one of the few channels I will drop everything to watch a new vid. love ya captain d
you're one of the only people who does the "youtuber character/side characters" thing in an entertaining and satisfying way. both the quality of effects and the acting helps it come together in a way that always leaves me wanting more.
Awesome as always. Both the analysis AND your own VFX. I'm always amazed by how you manage to do all of this in such a relatively short amount of time

not just watching the visuals, but literally catching something off with *the speed of sound* is incredible
I was actually thinking it's weird that we actually hear the ball hit the can at the beginning before he even got to it, and I thought he was gonna talk about that, but we still can hear it from far away and the fact that he measured the distance and all that and got to the delayed sound is more clever and impressive.
I didn't realize how much I needed this video before I saw it. Thank you Captain Disillusion; the effects work was amazing, the video made me laugh out loud numerous times and the sign-off was a well needed reminder! Thanks again, and always remember to love with your heart, but use your head for everything else xxx

What an amazing video! The bit with Mr. Flare was both a great riff on the format while still keeping the debunk going with new information, very fun!
The wait between uploads is always worth it on this channel.
I was just binging old debunks and now this, what a great surprise, feels just like it always did

Remember, this guy started making videos back in myspace days, before UA-cam even came out. And, he's still here, with the same metallic body, and the same unpaid intern Alan.
The ol 2000s, before i was even born lol
I can't believe the quality of video and acting in these videos, not just the special effects and editing. But the fact that you basically nailed the video reactor/streamer persona perfectly
your videos are just unbelievably well produced and entertaining that even with 0 interest in all the topics you discuss i still cant find a second to be bored
I saw your video and instantly clicked to watch. Thank you for all the hard work you've put in over the years. You're an awesome creator.
7:23 Did anyone notice the chat messages? Whoever wrote that line should be given a raise, that is more entertaining than the reaction video itself.
The "3 Tailed Squirrel" one? I agree!
CD wrote all the lines. He did everything.
I'd suppose that work is left to the (obviously non-paid) intern.
Nah, the chat responds to his question immediately after asking. In reality there should have been 3 seconds of delay. Obviously fake.

Always a delight to watch your videos, Captain. Top shelf quality, nothing comes close. Say Hi to Alan.
I just can't get over the sheer amount of effort and quality you put in every single one of your videos. I've followed you for years and adore your content.
This is the greatest UA-cam channel of all time. I will never get bored of watching and rewatching the Captain's videos.
Kaptain Kristian is legendary. Dark journalist is a true “red pill”. I’d put Captain up there too
it's one of the few remaining channels where videos require a high time investment directly in their production (i.e. it isn't just a recap of an external high-effort project), and this effort is put towards something useful, instead of scriptwriting for a five hour video essay by a polisci undergrad about the backyardigans.
The amount of work that went into this video is mind blowing. Good to see you again Captain

That Mr. Flare streamer parody was so spot on, it actually seemed like one
I don't streamers (except the guy who makes Japanese prints) since I am old (and so is that Japanese print guy) and I found this segment cringe inducing. However, I understand he has captured perfectly how awful these things are.
Your work/uploads always are a joy to watch. There is a certain 90s charm to it. None of the modern, toxic vibes that are in today's videos.
Hope you can continue to keep this level of production and charm!
Lol what kinda content you surrounding yourself where you end up finding “toxic vibes” 😂
I crave more of your videos Captain! They are some of the most entertaining videos on youtube !

Your usage of using real world references to estimate distance and sound delay is so clever.
