      Brown's Costa Calida, cheers Nick! There are areas still being worked on but the workers have done a fab job of getting the resort back up and running. As you say, a beautiful resort 👍🏻👍🏻

    I’m very lucky as my villa is near the top entrance so it’s away from the floods and near the spar , love it

    Has this happened again or were there measures put in place to stop this from happening again. ?

    • @BaqPaqJaq

      Hi Edmund. No this was a one off due to a number of factors, and repairs were done so this never happens in future. There was a flash flood which of course happens but thankfully rarely. And the resort copes with these due to there being a flood drain called a Rambla through the resort. They open the gates and flood water flows through the designed channel like a river. But the issue was a wall to the resort collapsed during the flood, which then broke the gate to the Rambla. So the waters went where they shouldn’t have. The wall has been rebuilt, reinforced this time with metal. I love living here and confidently live on that outer wall. Inside the resort, extra measures have also been taken, some garden walls raised, and flood defences on all the underground parking. I hope this answers your question, and thanks so much for watching my video. Jackie

      michael kerrigan yes very heartbreaking the first half 😢. But a nice ending with lots of laughter I hope you’ll agree! And the resort is starting to look beautiful like before thanks to all the hardworking STV and GNK staff, and La Torre volunteers 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Hehe yep awful overswing I have 🤣🤣🤣

    wow, no wonder property is so cheap here. You won't see any of this on any Estate Agents website and this will not be a one off.

    • @BaqPaqJaq
      @BaqPaqJaq  2 роки тому

      Hi Peter, thanks for watching! Property is cheap all over Spain, take a look at some other resorts; Las Terrazas De La Torre is 5 mins drive away, 2 bed properties on a Jack Nicklaus golf course start about 25% cheaper there than here at La Torre! The flood was awful but there were other factors, part of the wall collapsed. That should never happen again as it has been reinforced now. We have a flood rambla through the resort with new floodgates to control heavy rainfall. So La Torre is very much still a great place to live! But you are right… no estate agent will confess it suffered this disaster 2 years ago 🤣👍🏻

      @@portuguesesongsbyanenglish2920 still loving living here! I don’t believe this will ever happen again. Yes it was a freak weather incident which occurred, but the main fault was the wall giving way. This weak spot has been reinforced now. No way it will ever collapse should a freak weather event like that happen again. The resort covered the repairs. The following year our community fee went up by less than €20 if my memory serves me correctly, and then the following year it dropped back down. The resort is a stunning place to live, come visit and see for yourself 😊. All the best, Jackie

      @@BaqPaqJaq thanks Jackie one last question please. How close are amenities outside of the resort? It will be a holiday home for us but not all the family drive or will want to drive if they use the property. Will they have easy access to restaurants etc and the nearest beaches? I know there is one in the resort but I’d like to know about outside. Cheers

      @@portuguesesongsbyanenglish2920 There is the town of Roldán outside the resort, from the Kings College entrance probably 30 min walk to the centre where restaurants and bars and supermarkets are. There’s a free taxi to and from the Indian restaurant in Balsicas too. (The small town the other side of the resort). Beach is 20 min drive away. It is a resort in the countryside. Surrounded by farms, with views of mountains.

      VFR800Fi1 thanks for patiently waiting! Yes poor Graham and Julie’s house took the main force of the water where the wall broke. They are still waiting on insurance assessors. It will be nice when all the claims are settled. The government set up a special insurance fund to pay out to flood victims. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

      Hi Jamie, hope you are well. Graham's townhouse looks sooooo much better now! The resort gardeners replanted all the bushes and grass, the insurance company sorted out the repairs, and the wall that gave way has been reinforced with metal and rebuilt! They say it was a freaky 100 year storm... here's hoping we do indeed have at least 99 years before the next one! Have a great weekend.

    amazing watch, can i ask what drone you have to film & where did you buy it?

    • @BaqPaqJaq
      @BaqPaqJaq  4 роки тому

      Alex Hubball. Hi Alex! Thanks for watching! I have a GoPro, and Insta360 One camera, and a drone. For this movie I had a DJI Spark drone, but this sadly drowned! (And got caught on camera ua-cam.com/video/sprG7zVIU-c/v-deo.html ) so then I invested in a DJI Mavic drone, this is much more reliable. The Spark was a WiFi drone, but the Mavic is ocusync radiowaves. My Spark was a great introductory drone... but the Mavic makes the spark feel like a toy in comparison! I bought from DJI direct, or amazon. Hope you’ll subscribe to my channel to see more of my drone outings. It’s a great hobby, let me know if you get a drone! 👍🏻

      Hi Richard, thanks for watching! It was hopefully a one-off freak event! There was an exterior wall that had a weak point and collapsed. Has been fixed and reinforced. There are resorts with properties starting at €49,000 here… La Torre is by no means the cheapest. Also, the whole region got flooded… La Torre got off lightly compared to Los Alcázares where hundreds of houses unfortunately got flooded.

    • @RichD2024
      @RichD2024 3 роки тому +1

      @@BaqPaqJaq It appears that area is flood prone, and unfortunately, what were once freak events are starting to become the norm thanks to climate change. As beautiful as those apartments are, I wouldn't take the chance. I've lived through my fair share of natural disasters, they are not fun.

      @@RichD2024 yes, Mother Nature always wins 🥲. World weather seems to be changing… I do hope things improve here. The council has spent thousands building more storm drains, so fingers crossed the area will cope better in future storms 🤞🏻.
