These bikes top out at 105 mph with 190 lb Rider on it. It will do the highway all day. At 75 mi an hour you still have throttle left. I love mine but I've got it turned into a rat rod bobber. I drive daily a Virago 535 (year 1997) since 2014, with the original handlebar and just the same seat as yours. I just LOVE it. :-) I made twice 950 Km/590miles a couple of months ago, it was just fine and easy. how tall are you? is it comfortable for your size?..I had a new '83 500..I am 5'9" and it was really cramped..the 535 is a different animal, the seat is way different..
Napoleon Einstein I am 5 10. for me it is confortable enough, although on longer rides you start to feel cramped. the bike also seems to shrink with time as you get use to it. if this is not your first bike i would go with something bigger.
Hi Santiago..I've been riding since I was 16..I'm now a "senior citizen"..my first rule is not to ride a bike heavier than I can pick up..I expect to be riding motorcycles as long as I live, so I'm looking for a bike a little lighter than my 500 lb GS 650..I'm looking for something in the 400lb 500cc range..any "deal breakers" on the 535?
Napoleon Einstein deal breakers? maybe that it struggles on the highway, honestly a bigger bike can be safer... bigger brakes, engine guards, wider tires are more stable....

Where does the vacuum hose for the air Cut off valve in the front left cover go? A guy I know put it on the carb inlet joint on the right side where does yours go??
Please help I see you have a hose coming out the front cover too like mine. But the guy who did the rebuild on it I'm wondering where that hose goes bc I see nothing but caps on the intake joints on the bottom of carb
Thank you for showing me around as I am going on my virago XV 535 for the first time tomorrow. 😃 is it easy to change gear? As my last bike my feet were in a different position and thats my biggest worry. Does the choke go off on its own?
This bike was originally made by Yamaha in the 1980's to answer the need of a custom motorbike with better proportions for the ladies (the name comes from the Latin word virago (viraginis) meaning a vigorous and strong woman, a female warrior). So, the answer is yes to reach the ground, no doubt. But mind the 410 lbs: not easy to lift it up if the bike falls. The clutch lever seems smooth to me, easy ... except when my hands are frozen by the winter rain... means if it feels too hard = I'd better stop to get my hands warm again. :-) But it's a very comfy and easy to drive bike, imho. Cheap to manage and to keep in good shape.
I'm 6'2" at 165 and I honestly wish I had a bigger bike. I have a 88 xv535 and she's quick don't get me wrong, I just do wish I had a little bit bigger of a bike.
6”2’ and 235 a little small but I figured it would be good to learn before I get something bigger. Almost went with a Honda v65 whheewww that’s a big bike. Anywho I paid 950. It has 15000 on the clock.
Hello! I have a Virago 535 year 2000 and the pump fuel injector make a noise when I switch the ignition key and it continues while the motor is running. My mechanic said it is normal. I noticed yours does not do it...
Never the leg or foot, at all. Only when wearing a rainsuit (pure plastic) and stopping at the traffic light... once (only once in 8 years) I had some plastic that melt on the upper pipe. But I assume that is true for almost all bikes.
On his own Virago I don't see it, so I cannot answer for him. But on all Virago's I saw (in Europe) the lights control (Off / Low / On) is in the right block, just between the red "engine on" and the starter button (where he has the tank controls). On mine as well (1997 model) and the tank control is a smaller black switch (Res. / On) under the starter.
Hey Mr Santiago. Good video except your heavy breathing is annoying, makes the watcher feels suffocated! Btw...change shaft oil once in 5 years? Ideally it should be changed every 10,000kms. Shaft oil is cheap tho,> nice video nevertheless.
the engine sound is normal, I took it to a mechanic when I first got it to get it checked out precisely because I wasn't sure if it was sounding how it should and he said it sounded just fine!
Hello, you don't know the joy you give me, I have a virago that also sounds like this, tac, tac, tac, and I was afraid it would be the connecting rods. Thank you
@@JosePerez-vh7zy Nice! still make sure there's oil in your engine, and if in doubt take it to a mechanic (not a fancy one, they will make up shit and try to trick you into getting work done you don't need!) ask around and find an honest one in your area!

do you reach the ground with your feet if a person is 5f 6inches?
how hard is the clutch lever?
