im so happy for her. so many people thought she was gonna flop but she really proved them wrong. the funniest part about this is in like a flower she literally said “it’s more than just a visual”
debuting as an "older" idol with a visual position she really had no external motivation to improve her vocals and artistry, but i'm so glad she kept challenging herself. and now she can mature beautifully with more confidence in her skills. ugh i love herr
She was so hungry for her debut, she came with a lot of ideas and work a lot for this. I’m beyond happy and proud.
this debut is so classy based and her presence. Her and seulgi's debuts fit them so well
and likeeeee people who really followed irene from the start know she has this complex but understated artistic identity, her interviews are so gorgeous to read because you can see how much of a pensive, introspective woman she is. i'm so glad her album is so unapologetically true to her (and it's also not red or velvet, it's something else)
This entire album is Irene personified to a T. I truly had no idea what she was going to give but she gave everything and more!!! the most perfect solo debut for her and I couldn’t be more proud!! It’s such a beautiful album and hearing her voice showcased this way..wowowow!!!
She sounds so good. Besides loving her vocals on this project. I really got a sense of the sound Irene likes since she hand picked every song on this album. She's an R&B girly. Although this was clearly an album focusing on Irene as a vocalist.. her little rap in Strawberry silhouette was honestly one of her best in my opinion.

As an Irene girl I was happy to hear she was finally getting the solo she deserved!! I knew from the beginning she has such musicality and she just need the opportunity to show it!! I’m so proud of her

I think you really nailed the comment about her being able to release this not close to the beginning of the her career.
She had all this time to sort of marinate with Red Velvet and their different styles. Every song in this album drips with her opinions on style, she found her vibe over the years and is giving it to us in a variety of ways. She said she worked hard and really wanted to make sure it was "her's". Strawberry Silhouette definitely could've been a title track too.

I was sooooo hype for you to listen! I mean she kicked in the door and screamed, I’M HERE! I adore her smokey tone, but I was so surprised at her vocal agility. Baby has been putting in WORK and I respect that. She’s clearly not being utilized to her full potential in RV so I’m grateful she has the chance to showcase herself here. Knowing that she’s been getting vocal lessons BTS makes so much sense and I can hear her progression. This is one of my favorite projects to drop this year and she’s so deserving of all the records she’s breaking and the accolades she will continue to get. Whew, she did her big one
Her voice so freaking beautiful. Cannot wait to see a performance video and recording behind! She worked so hard. My Revelub heart is exploding with proudness.

I wanna say I thought she would do something with more music breaks and less ad-lib vocals, but she really reached my expectation and beyond.
I’ll say I couldn’t find what I found familiar about this, until I realized snsd’s Jessica has very much a similar vocal color here.
Reminds me of Jessica’s beep beep in tone, but with less vocal acrobatics due to Irene’s limited vocal range, but it totally works with her sultry soft color and I’m excited to see her do more solo going forward!

I'm so happy with her solo! I've been so hyped for this, honestly I knew it would be good when I watched the killing voice, her voice was so stable and supported. She really knows what she's doing, and she knows her instrument!! The album has been on repeat for me all day, it's such an easy listen!

Everyone surprised how good this release is. Like yes, we know, she's in RV, it's going to be good, but we had great expectations to begin with and she exceeded them. She came to slay.
Also the entire album is a vibe. The first time I ran through it, I had to stop mid-way and process that this is Irene's album. You know when you're listening to a song and you're on the edge of your seat (not in a good way) because you're unsure if the artist can deliver, this wasn't it. Flawless vocal delivery for me, the entire album.
Irene is literally Red Velvet. There is not RV without her. Yeri and Irene layer with their softer voices.

10:39 i think the issue with going into minor as a common chord progression is that it insinuates incompleteness. songs almost never end on a minor chord, so it makes sense why they are used within it, BUT they should not be overused as they can make things more dramatic (in other words, overuse makes songs tacky). the way IRENE chose to end the chorus chord progression with the fourth chord being in E major makes it feel complete, like my soul is being FILLEDDDDDD. please listen to “have we met before” by so soobin even on your own time to see what an example of good chord progression sounds like (in the chorus). so happy you loved this one.

Loved this album so much. Truly did not expect to like it sm, even though Irene is my ult. But I didn't like Kaching as much when it came out. I was just happy she gave us a cute little surprise. But my gosh! I genuinely love the songs and tbh Kaching, now that we got a studio version, it might grow on me.
I'm glad that they let her true charm flow out through the EP. From debut many criticized her image for being just pretty - beuatiful. Some said she's cold and boring because she's too feminine and don't give out any girl crush - strong fierce vibe. Her solo just served us with Tsunami amount of feminine energy as much as she capable for which is enough to feed the whole country.
Her voice is always my favorite in red velvet it’s so overshadowed by the other members since it’s not as powerful but I always looked for it in the background of their songs and she always delivered.
This was such a pleasant surprise for all of us! She killed it. You should look at Wonho's "What Would you Do" next if you want to!

Agreed with the comment above, Joy literally even had to fight for Hello to be the title track. SM were using her like a doll or something. Despite all that, Hello is my favorite non-skip solo album, though it’s gripping that title for its dear life cuz Like A Flower is *chef kiss*

Kind sir. My opinion may differ from yours in many ways regarding music. But I watch your channel at times because I know I do learn things from you. Everyone can learn from others, especially if you disagree on opinions. I agree with many things you said about Irene and her music. But to all those who doubted Irene's singing ability and just labeled her as a "visual".... Listen to this damn album. It's not perfect, but it's really good. The girl can sing! She's not Wendy, she's not Tayeon, but she stays in her lane and she does it so so well in this album.
