If adapting M-Z it makes most sense to use the TTArtisan 6 bit adapter so you get focus confirmation and assist. The best manual focus experience on mirrorless out there.
Agreed. Love my TTArtisan adapter and it's very fun to use with focus confirmation AND trap focus. And being able to input the focal length and aperture value on the fly is super helpful. And you can adapt vintage lenses to M-mount and you get all the benefits too. But Urth is the sponsor so.. 😅
The flange distance is totally off. it goes way above infinity. To give you an example, on a 28mm, when shooting at 3M, the lens marks around 1.7, at 5m marks around 2.3, and at infinity it's marks a little above 5 meters. it's nice having focus confirmation, but having to forego the close focus ability really sucks...
K&F Concept here since early 2014, with my A7 for adapting my mf lenses collection...for serveral years and generations now, there K&F Pro series, because they're a worthy, cheaper alternative for our german Novoflex brand. Urth is that cheaper thing from mostly Amazon, nowadays. No experience with them, unknown brand for my taste, so i dont trust them.
With the TTArtisan M to Z 6 bits adapter you can have the green focus confirmation on your Zf, it's more confortable because all adapters are not well on distance and infinity is not correct !
You can also zone focus with an AF lenses. I do it all the time. You just need to setup your shutter button as a shutter button only.(and not an AF then Shutter button)
I personally don't like the experience manually focusing on an aps-c camera as it often means a shorter focus throw plus the depth of field scale is not always ideal. Also I just prefer the framing (not having that crop) and depth of field by not having to use wider lenses to get the FF equivalent.
The Nikon ZF arguably has the best manual focus experience of any modern digital camera. The photos of the man taking a nap and the lady in the red hijab with the baby are amazing by the way! Also, did you grade this with Dehancer?
Hi! Thanks for the photos. Is there some contrasty preset used on your edited photos? Otherwise I notice the skin (on the beech goers kind of looks like greasy sandpaper
Ok the adapter mounts the lens but does the light meter read and where is the aperture set? I assume you set in on the lens and then match aperture on the camera???????????????
The switch was a little counter to my older Nikon DSLRs, but once you get your head around the dial setting the maximum ISO instead of the minimum, it helps avoid the auto ISO pitfall of the camera cranking up the ISO on it's own.
Nikon needed an Auto position on the dial so you don't have to go through some menus to go from manual ISO to auto. I often quickly switch between the two when photographing and that would be my main gripe owning a ZF - well, that and the flippy selfie screen.
Really looking forward to your solo videos again. They provide a lot more attention to the actual photography and your thought process. I get it, it’s fun with your buddies, but the results are not great compared to what we are used to from you. Sorry to be straight to the point, and of course this is my opinion, others may differ….
I like to use adapted lenses,BUT (it's a big but), sometimes it makes no sense because some lenses have undesired effects on the finished image. I wouldn't buy a £3000 camera and put a really old lens on it, as that defeats the object of buying the £3000 body in the first place. I shoot across multiple brands, and formats and never spend crazy money on any camera if it is only for pleasure. If people want to experiment and waste silly amounts on mixing old and new, let them do so.
"It slows me down" ??? ...bro you can adapt to your fuji... We get it, you need to feed the hype train to get views to get ad watches to get paid. You dont need to sell us on this, slows me down excuse... just be truthful on why you actually buy or use new gear. Its because we like to.
So basically you bought a Leica a month ago, now you are adapting lenses to Zf. What for exactly? Obviously you can adapt whatever to a mirrorless, but I guess that’s not the point when you are going to a rangefinder system. Oh, now I got it why… a sponsor.
Because it's a completely different camera style? & It's much cheaper? Are you ok? This is how people make youtube videos. Do you think you just discovered something here?
I have a Leica M11 and a large kit of Leica M lenses. Additionally, I also use a Nikon ZF, on which I adapt M lenses, but not exclusively; these are different systems, and I also use the ZF for video. So yes, it's conceivable. Moreover, it's timeless UA-cam content; if someone specifically searches for a video on the experience of using Leica M lenses on a Nikon ZF, they will come across the video. It doesn't matter if they also know that I bought a Leica M last month.

Thypoch lenses are a vibe, recommend to anyone as a great zone focus experience
Your journey over the past 3 months has been amazing
I love adapting lenses on the ZF, the focus assist tools are just so nice.
I really like the Urth adapters. I have one that I use to adapt my old Canon FD lenses to E mount.

If only Urth had a chipped adapter to take advantage of the Zf focus confirmation with manual lenses.
What's the grading process? Really enjoy the colors!

Difficult if the AF lens doesn't have distance markings but not impossible. Also a good zone focusing app will help.
Great video, are these lenses readily available and what kind of price range?
I remembered when you had a lot of complains about this amazing camera, glad you came around :)
I felt a bit uncomfortable with the cropping when using a manual lens on the X-T5, but the Nikon Zf looks quite promising!

Thanks for this video; discovered the Urth brand here 👌👍

Literally just watched Roman's video and then you posted this up lol
I am using the techart adapter and it works like a charm
Lovely video! The Zf is certainly enticing, but already owning a fuji makes it hard to consider switching
M APO to Nikon D700 ll is yummy. I have 45 50 85 1.8 Z primes, but these a smaller. so Ok for still lives and landscapes.
I’m a fan of Urth, but I’d buy the Z mount version from Thypoch!
Love this! This is what i do with the z50 + fd canon lenses
Any colour shift in the ND filter? Have you noticed?
man, the nikon zf is interesting 😂
Running from the incoming tide should be an olympic sport
Bought a ZF on its release. Great camera without doubt. Just couldn’t stand the implementation of the ISO.
Totally nuts !

I just turned my video record button into the Auto ISO button, boom! Watch Omar Gonzalez's video to see how to do it.
That combo look so good !
Can't wait for you to move to the Leica M6 and go analog.

@@gabrielmaharshi adapting to apsc is not the same as adapting to full frame however. You do not get the full 35mm lens character on a crop sensor.

@@wojt4spes I have a Leica CL and Nikon z6 that I use m-mount lens's on. Who cares what people do with their tools.
Because he has lenses that work well on both? Would you be happier if he bought equivalent Nikon lenses for each focal length?
Caught him redhanded. You win the internet today well done.
A+ for the proper pronunciation of Nikon🤌🏽😌
