- This is a tutorial of the process that I use to lighten my hair. I guess you can call it my hair bleaching hacks.
Disclaimer: I am not a licensed hair professional I am just showing what I've done over the years to keep my hair blonde. Dye your hair at your own risk.
Products Used:
Bleach: Wella Colorcharm
Toner: Wella Colorcharm T14-pale ash blonde
Developer: 20 Volume Creme Developer

Ok so my hair is golden/ light yellow and now I’m convinced I need to bleach again before toning. My hair isn’t pale yellow enough to tone just yet you’re the only person that showed the full process for natural hair THANK YOU

Also if you overtone, you can just use the purple shampoo to wash it off too!!! It’s WAY less damaging than the lemon juice, just leave the purple shampoo on for about 5 mins or more

Thank you so much! My hair right now is colored and is that sort of orangey color, but now I want to go lighter and I was concerned about how to bleach the new growth and the hair that's already bleach without creating a weird gradient. Your video more than saved me.

Another way to curb some of that grey/purpleness before you tone is to condition it before hand just to close up some that porosity. Use a protein conditioner, like roux porosity control for 2-3 minutes then rinse cool water, then tone. 2-3 minutes a lot shorter than 30 and adding lemons.
I don’t tone for 30mins that’s what the box says i only do 10 to 15. But I’ll definitely try this way next time to see how much of a difference it makes! Great suggestion i would’ve never thought to do this!

Suzanne LaDue are you continuously adding to the bleach? If you apply it and let it sit it will lift but eventually stop. You have to go in and continually add more bleach to keep the lifting process going

How you got this blonde with one bleach process with a 20 volume developer??! Is it the type of bleach? Ive never used Wella bleach, only bw2 and quick blue. Can anyone verify this?
Yes, i have a cousin in cosmetology and she told me that Wella lifts almost to salon strength so I’ve been using it ever since. I use to use BW2 but I’ve never achieved my current blonde without Wella. Plus. I did sit a while since it was 20 volume this was not a 30min process.
@@OhhSoPaige the fact that you did this with a 20 volume developer os what makes it even more unbelievable. Amazing. Im going to try it cause id imagine its way less damage than bleaching twice with a 30 or 40 developer. I'm tryna keep my hair now. With a short cut it really dont matter HOW you achieve it lol..since it'll be cut off. Thank you!

Did your hair texture change do you use same styling products on bleached hair??
It made my tight 4C curls a bit looser but it’s very slight i actually love the change. As far as products, i still use the same stuff. I’ve always been the type to deep condition my hair each wash and to keep it hydrated.

I love your video and the color is awesome on you. I just used a box color dye in color lightest blonde and the roots are orange and the body of my hair is brown. I tried the purple shampoo and that didn't work either so now that I see your video I'm want to do the bleach. How soon should I attempt the way you did your color? Thank you so much in advance
It really depends on the strength of your hair but to be on the safe side give it at the least a full week before you try bleaching

I used the lemon juice to get rid of the grey/purple hue that the toner left on my hair since i let it tone for too long. It did help with the end result

Toners should stay on 5-10 mins. If left on too long it will turn purple. Watch the hair closely while toning to prevent it from grabbing purple tones
If i use a 40 developer , what would happen? What made you use a 20 developer
Can I Use 10 Volume And Still Get The Same Color Blonde As You ?
You can! It’s just going to lift a little slower than the 20 vol
Is it best to bleach hair when its dirty or bleach it right after washing it??
I’ve always done it on dirty hair, since bleach is a chemical and can burn your scalp like Perm. I’ve used it 3 days after a wash so it wasn’t super dirty nor super clean but I’ve never tried it on fresh hair

Should you use toner if you do not bleach your hair? I just used hair color to lift it.
If you feel like it’s too brassy then you can use purple shampoo to tone it instead of a harsh Wella toner

No problem love!! I only used T14 in this video. I would just leave it on the full time. When i first used toner, i was afraid and took it off after 10 mins and it only changed the brass slightly. So i bought more toner and did it again 3 days later and left it on longer and it changed to the desired color.

I have a question! I lightened and colored my hair a light brown/bronze color and have about an inch of root (dark brown) so my question, I want to go dark blonde do I apply the bleach on my ends or root first?
Ends first. Your roots change color super fast since it’s close to your scalp and warm. Your ends will take a bit longer to change
So I am wanting to bleach, tone, and dye my hair blue with purple ombre ends. I have about an inch or two of new growth. I don't want to bleach my roots but if my new growth is only an inch should I go ahead and do it?
Yeah, an inch or 2 of dark roots won’t look bad with those colors

No i haven’t, only because i like having some differences, it kind of gives it a streak effect. But i May try that out. I just really hate toner 😂😂😂 but i love the results.

Gaith Firas The total dying process was not 30 minutes. I dyed the black of my hair first, then my actual roots and lastly the already blonde parts. The total process took an hour.

How did ya get your hair in that curl pattern?
My natural curl pattern loosen to the curl it is now due to the bleach so my 4C isn’t as tight. But the curls achieved for the Mohawk came from using pink perm rods found at your local beauty supply store.
What kind of lemon juice? From a lemon? With over toning?
Tazia Taughtyou you can do fresh lemons it’s up to you. I always used the kind that’s in the fake lemon bottle and that’s because that’s what i had at the house
But yeah when you’ve over toned (too much toning) your hair it’ll be a gray or purple hue to your blonde and the lemon juice mixed with conditioner will get rid of those hues

Malika Saabira Wait a few days up to. Week before using the box dye. I’ve done that plenty but I do it when I feel like it. LOL I’ve been doing my hair for years though. Just wit a few days to be safe.

Use a sulfate free shampoo because that’s what causes drying

Is the t14 more ash blonde than t18?
T-14 is pale ash blonde and
T-18 is lightest Ash Blonde when i used T-18 it never turned the color it is now it’s always been darker

OhhSoPaige this past time I died my hair maybe 20-30 minutes 🤔 but it started burning !!! So I rinsed it out
Make sure you aren't adding any conditioner on your hair before you tone. Also tone on damp hair
Does bleach damage your hair?
It can be damaging, but you have to choose the right kind of bleach as well as really take care of your hair afterwards. I deep condition my hair after every wash and i make sure i keep my hair Moisturized.
