Beautiful stage casing idea, rotos are not for everyone, Pearl had a deep snare model also, Bill Brueford had a hand in that popularity. mixing it up with the standard tones.
I like this kit. Here's what I did. I bought a 12, 14 , and 16 inch toto tom. Bought the stands for them and I set them up like a five piece and let me tell you with my bass drum and my snare and 3 dampening rings nothing can match the sound. And it seems like you get a better bounce from the roto toms. And tuning them is so sweet, you can get them within a hair of each other if you want. And another cool thing is. Just change the bass drum and you got a different look without buying all the toms that would match the bass. Try it you'll like it. Don't forget the Remo-rings.
I've been playing (and modifying) drums since 1967, and have seen all kinds of kits...but I must say, this is impressive! Looks kinda " Mike Manginish", but hey, that's a compliment...he's a "drum god" Nice work, my friend! Keep on doin' whatcha do!!!!!!
What you did with the roto's are wonderful. How you packaged it is also wonderful.I love custom jobs, very well done. I'd like to say this, the Roto toms are not for everyone, they have their own special sounds and they certainly were never meant to sound like a wooden maple drum. I use a few roto toms on my kit, because on certain types music ( world music) Latin etc the tones are perfect. If any of you would like to listen to how i use the roto's along with other drumzz, i have 3 solo video's up under my name Deagledrumzz, maybe this might give you a different idea what you can do with the root toms.
I belive its a good idea of a kit! good practical thinking! it sounds like a purecussion! great drums shell less, can you explain more about your cymbals it looks amazing. congrats. great job!
Brilliant engineering converting the case into a small stage/platform. I'm sure the drums would sound much better if they were mic'd or in a ambient room. Very cool.
you got all that Negative shit so wrong. 1. they are rototoms. they sound echoey and transient. and they .... considering they are not miked up....sound good. so good that you can still hear the quieter splashes etc!!. so don't nock them.... go play them!!!..
Actually, if you mic the rototoms and cut the mids around 750Hz by 6 to 9 db's they sound great. I just cut the same frequency all the way around (I've got a full set of the all Chrome Remo Roto toms - actually, mine are Slingerland, but still have regular kick drums.)
Thank the heavens above for the first minute, or we would not know how to open a box....! Seriously, nice system, would make gigging much easier and faster if you used those types of drums!
Jesus, everybody here is a touch bitter. It’s a little involved for me, but I like rototoms...for toms. Good enough for Danny Carey, good enough for me. Hand truck? Too much. Red cymbals? Not for me. But it’s a cool setup.
@raivok55555 The bass drum is somehow the best-sounding Roto in the video; I expected it to sound terrible. As an experienced RotoTom user I don't agree with Rockula; I have used Pinstripes (double-ply, hydraulic) on my Rotos depending on the application, & have had great results. As with any drum, thinner heads give more vibration & more sound; single-ply heads will give you more resonance. The key for performance/recording is to close-mic the Rotos from beneath; this video is just camera mic.
@madcatproductions69 Thanks for the info. Yeah shipping is a real bummer. Just as a quicky are there any other slightly more extensive video demonstrations of you playing the kit that you haven't already been posted. I would really love to see the kit in full flow coz it looks such a work of art.
Amazing and shurely no sounding ‘crap’. But not a good idea playing in the workplace with all that reverb. If miked properly it would sound excellent👍🏾
@raivok55555 not to be too critical but Rotos always sound bad when you put pinstripes on them. There's a reason why you want to use rotos and trying to make them sound like regular drums is not one of them. Use a thick ply head and tune them wide open
i love rotos since remo thought of them SIR I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE YOUR KIT & no notoverstated BY ME ATALL its wonderful
cool kit and really cool concept, the only problem is, and it may just be me but roto toms don't give you that powerful feeling you get when you play a regular kit, they aren't "real" enough
Calm down u purists drummers...its a great idea...compact ..love the two kicks..until u have ur own backline crew n drum roadies l would use this on any small weekend gig
Everybody take note. This video (especially when he begins playing at about 3:45) is how you demonstrate drums. You play something that sounds cool. Too many drummers make videos where they just go mad with a drum solo with about 70 trillion drum hits per minute. They're trying to show everybody how fast they can play and it's just too much noise. The drumming in this video, on the other hand, sounds cool.
just because it's too fast for you to appreciate, does not make it bad. this fella with his creative rototom kit can hold a groove, but did not play anything that's sending other drummers running back to the shed to step up their craft.
Excelente drum🥁⚡☝🏻🤘🏼👍👏
I waited this whole time them found out they sound like crap...
The reverb comes from the wall I guess.
I bet the Bad audio is because the camera wasnt good enough, those days
...and he played like shit....
Playing n tuning isn't helping js
Should've set them up in a garage with a couple of mikes, an overhead camera, and someone who could PLAY the damn things!
Excellent Beautiful Sublime Inmortal Roto Toms Rules 🎼🥁🙏🎶🎵
I loved how the travel case folded into a freaking riser (even though the paint job was meh). Drums looked hot too. Awesome job!
Beautiful stage casing idea, rotos are not for everyone, Pearl had a deep snare model also, Bill Brueford had a hand in that popularity. mixing it up with the standard tones.
SUPER COOL.. Looked Awesome, but I am Sorry NOTHING replaces Deep Acoustic Drums.. the set up and Cymbals are awesome!!
Forget about all those negative comments. Enjoy your drumming is far more important. keep rolling, bless.

i agree on the bouncing thing.

Great engineering!
St. Anger's drum kit.
Nah, that would be the trashcankiller v2
Your neighbors must love you. 😮
Awesome, compact, portability and awesome sounds great concept man.
Can we all agree that the red cymbals are beautiful and sounds like complete crap?
Love it !
Reminds Me Of Terry Bozio or Vandenberg .. Love the Sound
Great idea on the Drum Case
Plus the Drum Riser !
Great Video ....

I think it's bad ass.Perfect for a quick set up.They don't sound great but they would get the job done.
I belive its a good idea of a kit! good practical thinking! it sounds like a purecussion! great drums shell less, can you explain more about your cymbals it looks amazing. congrats. great job!

rotos with a regular bass drum sounds great
yo thats tight. at first i was like dude that box thing is kinda whack. but then they way it set up into a riser was sick.
Oh man. Talk about a punchy sounding set. That's awesome
you got all that Negative shit so wrong. 1. they are rototoms. they sound echoey and transient. and they .... considering they are not miked up....sound good. so good that you can still hear the quieter splashes etc!!. so don't nock them.... go play them!!!..
Cool kit, cool grooves, cool mix.
Incredible ! Bravo !
Hey i like this sound. Good drumming also. I hooe the hell your neighbors were not home at that time. lol
Your drumming is cool as that cool background music....
The red ones are Harpy, the hi hats are Zildjian, the cymbal next 2 the hi hats is Meinl, and I don't know what the ride is.
Looks cool and sounds good to me! Good on you!
That's awesome, probably pretty expensive though.

A full set of roto toms?
Thanks, but, no thanks.
But you can turn them.
Dig. Awesome idea. Wish I had it first!
Well, good Ideas in here.
Music taken from an old Zombiemovie.... maybe.. .
Looks really cool.
Sounds intressting.
very well done, good for you
Not sure if your still doing this but. Cool idea. Maybe convert a drum frame rack system into this idea.
awesome, i thought it was a bike right then he opened the case. :-)
Great idea and well done mate, don't listen to the troll haters!

Excellent! Invention 👍🏻
Awesome!!!

Am betting your neighbours love you.
I can picture his missus nagging about the money he “ wasted” with all that junk.
Nice spot for the hi hat.
Great work, cool set!
Nice Rig!
This is an awesome to use creation with percussion lol great job my friend.
omg thats soo cool!
Brillaint!
The neighbor's like, "For fuck's sake Chip, can you cut that shit fucking out already?!!!" Kit sounds horrible.

I don't understand all the hate dude, and I hope it doesn't get to ya. I enjoyed the drumming
That is one unique drum kit, doesn't fit with a lot of genres though, but i think some techno stylish music could fit well :D
Cool man!
I think I’m the most floored at the fact you like bluetech? I keep seeing really obscure music in how to videos.
What's with all the reverb during the actual drumming? Can't tell what they really sound like.
What came first, the drumming or the mechanical design?
Very talented..you need to take it to a NAAM show
Where did you get the large roto toms
Cool Kit. The only problem being in a band?......bandmates.
I waited to hear some killer chops. I was s let down :( Red looks nice.
Are those paiste color sound cymbals
Video starts at 3:45. You're welcome.
awesomnessssssss
Whats the size of the snare?
OOOOOOOoooooooooo.......I want.....I want!!!!!
I’m just interested in those bass drums... what gives??
Where can one by one of these sets?
i love rotos since remo thought of them SIR I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE YOUR KIT & no notoverstated BY ME ATALL its wonderful
Weird, but cool set up.
cool kit and really cool concept, the only problem is, and it may just be me but roto toms don't give you that powerful feeling you get when you play a regular kit, they aren't "real" enough
amaziiing
where did you buy the cymbals?????
@madcatproductions Hi,
The kit seems fantastic - but just how much would the kit in this exact set up cost? Thanks
what kind of cymbals are thos?
i dig it.
I like the echo of that room
How much and where are you located? I am in MA.
How much does it weigh?
Why so many splashes?
Sick drum set. Great colors. Did you make it yourself? How much did it $cost?
wow what ride is that
Different!👽
Sounds bad dude, sounds like flicking elastic bands against ice cream tubs !!!
I would hate to be his neighbor, I mean the echo alone would make me call the authorities. His playing was ok, not bad, not great, just ok.
Skip to 3:50 to hear the drums, tho is only 1.49 worth waiting for..
boy a lot of people hate"n" on this i thought they sounded good for outdoor mic"n" and limited recording equipment good job !
Roughly around 4:05 is when my neighbor comes over and tells me if I can lower it down just a tiny bit.
It looks aweeeeesome, but it sounds like I thought it would. :(
What snare do you use?
Can I ask what music was playing over the video? Loved the set BTW!
What even are those cymbals?!
like it!!
How much does it cost?
NICE!
