I work for a public museum where we don't have a professional photograph and we also don't have money in order to pay for a photography professional. We need photos of about 20 objects due tomorrow, so that will be of great use. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge.

This made me a believer in light tents. I will need one that size or possibly larger.

In Belgium; some government agencies responsible for historic heritage policies keeps these items available in each province: every museum or local history organisation can rent them for a certain time. The provincial services too sometimes have such equipment: when I worked for the province of Flemish Brabant, they even had a very expensive A3 scanner. Those who want the equipment have to register, tell when they need the equipment and come and get it. They have to pay an insurance, a certain amount based on the price of the item. When they bring the items back, they are checked, and when everything is OK, you get the complete sum back.

Thanks for the tips and tricks.
What do you do if you have white objects like dishes ? Do you recommend a second coloured background, either black or dark blue, red or green ?

This video is an insult to a fair photographic craft. It shows how products should not be photographed. Not for professional use.

Based on what exactly? And where was it mentioned that this is for professional use?

This comment is an insult to fair judgement. It was never said this photography replaces professional photographers. If you have 12 000 objects, you simply don't have the funds to pay a professional photographer to do just that. If you want to publish a catalogue with 70 photographs, you might consider taking a professional photographer. But my advice folks: take a friendly person, not a snotty arrrogant prick who thinks he or she is the next big National Geographic sponsored photographic ace.... Gosh... People sometimes !!!!
