I got it around 2 weeks ago and he's pretty good. Ngl not living up totally to the hype in some aspects. I just particularly have issues with the knees because they don't bend all the way without flexing the plastic
My only problem with mine is that his legs keep popping off, but it's not as bad as my Studio Series AOE Galvatrons face. It keeps coming off with a tap to the back of the head.
There’s actually a good way to remove stress marks I found! If you take a hair dryer on high heat and move the hair dryer around in a circular motion, as to not overheat the plastic and deform it, should take it right out. I’ve done it a couple of times for some of my figures and it’s worked great. Not sure if it will take it completely out or yours, but it should definitely help!
I would not recommend this. Although it does get rid of the visible stress marks, the hair dryer method does not fix the underlying damage, and often makes it worse. Heating the plastic can make it dry and brittle.
@@makutateridax584 I saw the comment, and this was exactly what i was thinking. Wouldn't hiding the stress marks just stop you from seeing actual serious problems?
When I transform my copy into vehicle mode, I tend to move the doors to a certain angle, allowing for enough clearance for the shoulders to move into position, and then I put the doors in the position they're supposed to be in.
I love the '86 Hot Rod but I do agree with the limitations it has. I never have the love for the Bayformers movie characters but the toys are a lot to cherish if you got the bucks
I've had this figure for a couple of months now. I've flipped it back and forth between modes quite a few times without any excess stress. Theres a trick to getting them arms in. It just takes a few times messing with it to get a feel for it. Hes one of my favorite SS figures I have. Excellent articulation. I usually put the door wings up, kind of like barricade. It gives a nice look along with giving more range in the arms and legs. The only issue I've had with him is his heels. They are tiny little fins that fold up underneath the spoiler. This peice likes to fall out ALL THE TIME. Other than that, it's a mighty fine figure and needed in anyone's collection.
When you said his Transformation was claustrophobic I was a bit confused on what you meant, then you mentioned Studio Series 81 Wheeljack and I immediately understood
I love his design but the ss mold looks kinda off to me. I can't tell what's wrong exactly but it looks like he's like trying to look menacing by hunching over, idk
I got this guy yesterday. All honestly I do like his design, if it were me designing him and I could only change a few things. I'd change his face and I'd change his darker colours to a bright red because Hot Rod is Red! And I personally think a Lamborghini is perfect for Hot Rod.
I recently bought a hotrod a couple weeks ago and was fairly impressed. It looks amazing in both modes, im frustrated with the knee bend because of the tire but hey I’ll get used to it. The transformation is weird but it makes me want to do it more. Also I didn’t know you could remove part of the gun so thank you!
With the gun I found I actually can go in straight the door piece on his hand grooves in the gun it’s very unnoticeable until you actually try it they would’ve been better off making his hand less cluttered
Heyo Toy Guy. That really looks great. But as a car guy myself the panel lines do feel distracting but oh well we get what we get XD Btw I’m hoping to join your discord server but when I tried the link here it expired. Hope you could put in a new one.
I'm still hoping for new tlk studio series figures, especially a new knight optimus prime, even though that may not be possible or even people's "favorite"
My biggest issue with SS86 Hot Rod is all the yellow. I know its for structural reasons, but couldn’t they have choose any other colors??? It makes his knees mismatched; the his whole torso is yellow, and he has a yellow sunroof!
Ingeniery hftd level I know that does not reach that line but has essence due to the excellent engineering and how clean it is It's literally a mini Masterpiece
My copies ball joints for the legs came weird the legs just pop off. Not sure if that means I need to sand it down because they are to bug but that’s my theory. What’s your opinion
The fig looks great I like how they remodeled the hot rod figure but I’d like to see hasbro remodel the volkswagon bumblebee I mean the first try eh it was ok but I would love it if they re tried wagon bee
Good thing I bought this strictly for his alt mode as this was a disappointment. My copy has his left hip joint very loose and it keeps popping off. I can just move it and it'll just pop off. The other disappointment is the plastic as it's very thin and only weighs 61 grams whereas Legacy Clampdown is 92 grams. I like it but, these two things keep him from being great.
Studio Series Hot Rod may not be perfect, but considering the fact he cost less than HALF as much as Masterpiece Hot Rod and somehow DOESN'T have the giant backpack but DOES include the Matrix of Leadership? I don't care if he's not perfect, he's an amazing figure.
To me this figure is near perfect, for once out of my luck of always getting bad copies of figures , l got a really good copy which helps my bias a bit, nothing loose and nothing feels like it’s going to break during transformation , transformation is really easy too me and l don’t feel as tho it’s claustrophobic , car mode is perfect for being a mainline toy also
With your studio series hot rods i think you recieved bad copies of the figure mine seem to be fine i just didplay mine mostly abd transform them every now and then
I liked the Bay films except for this one. HATED it. I really didn't like this character being called "Hot Rod". If I get this figure, the first thing I'll do is give it a head swap and give him a different name.

Hot Rod shoulders?

Yes or a heat gun works well
Lighter also but you need a bit of experience with not to burn and deform it
@@xDevilishes yeah, heat gun works too, I just didn’t have enough confidence in not melting the plastic, lol.

He killed optimus
They need to make a Citroen hot rod figure
“He is brown… like me!”
Ok that is just so wholesome, as a fellow younger is brown dude I offer the sincerest high five
I wonder if it’s possible to headswap this with studio series Lockdown. This guy really looks he has the range of movement that figure deserved.
Pretty good hot rod figure.
I don't know if I'm gonna get hot rod or cosshairs first.
the articulation just reminds me of an old r.i.d drift i had it had that exact arm problem when converting him to his alt mode

I have to say, it’s a great figure. But the alt mode is spot on, it sometimes looks like the jada toys die cast vehicle, great work by hasbro!

Its the way the car hood is sculpted that throws him off. Hot Rod is the only ss figure that looks better from the side.
I got Hot Rod. He is great. Added some much needed silver to his wheels.

The most claustrophobic transformation for me is the ss 49 bumblebee mould. I just hate it. Tlk Hot rod is atleast way more straight forward. IMO
Studio Series G1 Hot Rod needs a version 2 mold and Studio Series TLK Hot Rod also needs a version 2 mold.
