Hi John, i watched you film the demolition of another building in Bethesda and we spoke briefly. I was the skinny guy with glasses and I mentioned the cameras I was looking into buying. This was about 4 months ago. I'm glad I found your channel!
Thanks John, for another great video. This must have taken days to film. That tower was built to stay! Structural steel frame, with a heavy concrete wrapping. And the amount of rebar in that upper slab was amazing. But what was the double layer of metal sheeting on the steeple? Did the first one fail and they wrapped another around it?
They took two weeks to take the steeple down, and I was filming some every day. I need to do some research on the double layer. The second layer added as a repair seems plausible, but I haven't talked with anyone who would know.
if that is lead around it and inside , all they had to do was go home and come back in the morning and it would have been stripped by those who know how to steel lead..
No. Who will pay. What will it become. If housing, you could only get one or two houses in the church. Build purpose built apartments, you can get 20 apartments... far more profit.
According to the steetview picture, this church was worshipping online. I guess that's a consequence of Covid-19 but that also may be the nail in the coffin for this church as I did not see vandalism or fire damage.
Nothing like demolition of a building by hand and piece by piece....

John Z Wetmore good job i really enjoyed your video and God Bless.
Unbelievable amount of material in that.
That steeple could have withstood a hurricane. Extremely well built. What a shame to destroy such a magnificent church.
Your a shame
What an idea to destroy that by hand
Is it true that those two guys are still up there taking that steeple apart?
As much as I lovec watching these videos it's sad when it's a lovely historical building like this, it would have made a beautiful house or apartment

@@JohnZWetmore Thanks, John. I realized it must have been several days, but didn't imagine it was that long.
I don't think it would have taken that long if those workers knew how to use a crowbar!!
Plus, there was a while there where I wondered why not use the axe?!
They probably get paid by the hour.
ALSO, BOTH OF THEM WATCHING EVERY PIECE THEY REMOVE HIT THE GROUND.
Interesting how the steeple was constructed. I expected more wood.
Warum nehmen die keine Flex? Wären 10x schneller fertig.

its not lead or copper
Shameful act, where and when they stop.
Kościoła się nie opłaca remontować że wyburzają?
It is not profitable to renovate the church that they demolish?

The plans for redevelopment started years before Covid hit. The congregation was no longer large enough to maintain a large property.
lot of copper

Save that copper!
One down, many many more non tax paying buildings to go.
These guys take too long. They are losing money.
