I had a stone removed four days ago. The doctor put in a stent, which I didn't want. The stent caused a lot of pain, bleeding, and reduced my quality of life. I'm so glad that I'm getting it removed tomorrow. I've had stones removed with no stent, and I healed much faster and had less pain.

I just narrowly avoided this procedure. Two days ago, my urologist and I agreed to let several more days to pass to see if the stone would pass, or if not, we would move along with the procedure. The next day, after the appointment with the urologist, it finally decided to move out of my left ureter and leave my body. Since it was only 2 mm, I didn’t really feel it leave, but the lack of pain and discomfort are so nice.

Really, your urologist considered this for a max size of 2mm? It's usually 4mm where the real trouble begins and even up to 5mm ones have been noted to pass themselves. That's what my doctor told me at least.
My ultrasound found multiple 2mm ones - flushed them with electrolytes and green tea (couldn't sleep for a week or so but eventually saw what looked like tiny ground black pepper grains and the symptoms quickly disappeared).

@@wakarsheikh9703 Just had mine removed today - when it comes to blasting the stone (ureteroscopy) they put you under general anesthesia, so you will be entirely unconscious during the procedure, you won’t feel any pain. It’s about 30 mins, and after which if they use a stent, it can be pretty uncomfortable. As a female it feels like period cramps from hell, but I’m not sure what the sensation could be described as for males. They will of course give you pain meds and monitor you if you’re not well following the surgery.

An 8mm kidney stone, turned out to be a life altering experience. A surgeon put stent on the WRONG kidney, sent me home with NO care to the affected kidney. I was septic with bloody urine then sick for 6 months solid 24-7 because a nearby clinic PA kept me on a non-stop two month regimen of antibiotics, killing off all good bacteria in my gut, setting me up for a C-Diff infection. I was deathly ill 3 times before a university kidney hospital got involved. By all accounts, I should have died. The kidney hospital was horrified. The Dr and clinic that did this to me? Not one shred of accountability. The state medical commission is comprised of drs and nurses which protects the industry, not victims. After that, I'd rather die in a ditch than trust drs.

Just took this procedure 3 days ago. The procedure itself was painless but you will have catheter when you wake up and that is painful when they remove it after 24 hours. You will have blood in your urine in a couple of days and it is painful when you pee, make sure you drink a lot of water to help clear out your urine. Right now, I have a stent inside and doctor told me that it needs to stay there for 3 mos. The stent inside is not that painful, it only hurts when you pee and a cold compress may help you with that.

Today, I went for a utheralscopy procedure. The procedure was simple; however, I'd like to share my post-procedure experience with the stent, and I chose the self-removal option. The only issue I'm facing is due to the stent. I feel the urgency of pee all the time. I feel, that pee is about to come, and I need to rush even if I just did the pee. Other than when you pee, and it comes out, it gives you an instant sharp pain, not much. I have been told that as time passes, 1 or 2 days, the pain level will reduce. My advice is to drink a lot of water before going to the washroom and then pass the pee; wait for a few minutes because pee still comes in drops, and that's it. Don't spend a long time in the washroom because pee dripping rarely stops. You need to come back in 1 hour or 30 minutes because of the stent. I don't know the stent-pulling experience yet, but I generally read it is a painless experience. I had acute kidney stone pain, so I want to drink a lot of a lot of water from now on.

I'm getting mine April 29th this year at Mary Immaculate here in Newport News Virginia a Ureteroscopy with the Holmium Laser under the care of Dr Ani with TPMG. After watching these videos and reading everyone's description of pain, etc makes me wonder if the way the patient is being treated during the procedure is causing the pain post surgery later. I have a Tic Tok video and talk about this exactly. When watching this video, observe how the doctor rushes while shoving the guide wire, etc quickly down the urethra very quickly. I have watched other videos with doctors from India saying to carefully and slowly push the guide wire down the urethra not to damage the urethra lining. You think these doctors that are pushing pretty quickly these quide wires down the urethra would want another doctor to do the same to them, heck no !! I'm not a betting man but after hearing why so many patients are having pain, etc, I'm betting this could be one reason. There doctor is rushing this procedure perhaps to get to another surgery hours later, or insurance time allocated reasons, or this is how he or she was trained. I'm not sure what the reason is but to reduce costs the more time you allocate for the patient that day for surgery reduces future costs on insurance companies if it's done in a way where the doctor doesn't appear to be rushed possibly causing damage to someone's urethra or something similar in nature. In other other words, they say the surgery can be on average from UA-cam research from 45 min to 3 hours at most. Would you want a 45 min procedure after seeing how fast this doctor rushes the guide wire down your urethra possibly causing you major discomfort and pain later. Or, would you want a 2 hour surgery where the surgeon carefully and slowly guides the guide wire down your urethra in which your discomfort and pain is much, much less during recovery after surgery. It's food for thought !! All I know is on April 29th I want Dr Ani to do door number 2 on me so that is exactly what my pain and discomfort is !! You are paying the bill at the end and should get what you pay for, eehh?? Just like anything else in life, right, when it comes to the bill ? The customer is always right, right ? Please don't comment, " Well, I don't want my doctor on his feet for so many hours taking that amount of time causing him to be tired, etc ! If your doctor can't stay on his feet for a certain amount of hours for surgery, he shouldn't be doing this in the 1st place. He needs to clock out and go home and look for another profession. ER doctors do this everyday and know that is what comes with the job. That's why ER doctors, your Urologist, make very good money because of the stress of the job and the hours of work that goes into, including the hours of surgery. I'm blessed to have very good doctors with TPMG thus far!. My GP and Urologist have been excellent so far and I hope they keep staying this way. I hope my long review helped and informed those of my opinion and I hope my procedure is nowhere close to what I've been reading come April 29th,2022 at Mary Immaculate in Newport News, Virginia. Have a great day everyone and hope all of you going through this has or is recovering well !!

I’m getting this procedure done on Wednesday and I’m honestly so nervous. Last week they did surgery on me and they said they removed the stone. It wasn’t until yesterday I found out the hospital lied to me and the doctor told me I still have the stone inside me. All they did was insert a stent inside me. So stupid.

Same happened to me and i am getting ready for URS.thats not dr's fault.actually, during surgery they have to take care of your life also.If they try to take out all the stone at once, it can create more problems for you..

I discovered this kidney guide PreventKidneyStones43.blogspot.com during the time when my husband is dealing with kidney stones. Kidneys stones are increasing from time to time. The growth was halted after he began applying this. He starts taking it again after he senses its existence again and soon after a couple weeks the ache is eliminated.
