You used the ONE clutter item that actually snaps onto every storage surface hehe. I have no idea why that wooden plant is so special but it's so frustrating when you're trying to stock a pantry and only peppers and cat and dog sculptures can be placed on small shelves.

You can also hold down the ALT key while rotating an item to place it on any 360-degree rotation plane instead of the default increments from using < and >.

Thank you for introducing me to the red shelf! I downloaded it a while ago and now I can't build without it. The best thing about that shelf is that it lets items snap to it that wouldn't normally go on a shelf. Also, another tip for all builders: Use the Sims 3 camera! 😉

@@allisonheard3084 you go to the link Aveline posted and download the shelf. Then you have to extract the zip-file and place it in Documents>Electronic Arts>Sims4>Mods. Another tip: For people like me (I used the sims 4 before the sims 3, so I know the sims 4 better), just do ctrl (control), Shift, and Tab. This will turn on your sims 3 camera, which you can do while you are rotating the object.

whenever i put objects on the shelf, they like get attached to the shelf, and when i try to move/delete the shelf, it deletes the objects on the shelf as well?? any advice for how to fix this??
This is happening in my game as well. I would love to know what I am missing. I can place items np, with the cheat codes in place and using alt but once I place an item I can't pull it off the surface as easily as Aveline does in this video. I first just held down the right mouse button while attempting to move the object off any kind of surface. Didn't work. I have tried holding down shift key while holding the right mouse. Didn't work. Another way I tried was holding down alt while holding down the right mouse button. Didn't work. Aveline in this video says to try holding down the right mouse button right under the object but that doesn't work either. girlythings101 sorry we are in the same boat. :/
Brittany Amore you’re supposed to use alt and pull while pressing the Left mouse button. And bb.moveobjects needs to be on for it to work.
And btw, try placing the object on the shelf or whatever first, then let it go and pressing alt before you click on it to pull it away while pressing the Left mouse button.
@@carolinaalcantara1539 I just realized I kept saying right mouse button. I always confuse my left and right mouse clicks. I think its cause I use the left mouse button so often that I think its right haha. Anyways, yes I was trying with left mouse button. I just hopped on my Sims game hoping your advice of first placing the item and then trying to move it off would help but unfortunately that has not helped me either. I will try on my non expansion and non CC Sims game to see if that makes a difference. On my main save game I only have like 5 CC items in my whole game but I know how CC can cause glitches. Thank you so much for the attempted assist!
@@carolinaalcantara1539 I just tried it on my other base game no cc save and it does the same thing. No matter, at least there is the red shelf.

Third: OPEN THE SIMS 4
Fourth: MODS
Once you get there, drag any mods you have and once you load the game, make sure you have mods on through settings.

Seeing this video just made me realize how smooth Sims is. My computer is awful and I only have base game because of that, and it's sooooo awful. The graphics are bad but also it's so laggy and the camera moves so weirdly, it's hard to explain but it's so frustrating. The video was helpful though so thank you

Once you download the shelf do you have to restart the game? And should I have saved it or opened it?
Thank you for this! I haven’t downloaded the red shelf yet but I plan to and I have been wondering how it works. I used the OMSPs all. the. time in Sims 2. (One More Slot Package) IDK if you used those are played TS2 but there were a ton of them and they were a GODSEND because 2 only had like 1 slot on counters and tables and that’s it. You couldn’t have flowers on the table without the OMSPs or the Sims couldn’t eat on it. You couldn’t use corner counters for anything you wanted the Sim to be able to use without the OMSP. Sooo frustrating. I tried TS3 but didn’t like it so I was playing 2 still up until about a month ago. Obsessed with 4 now!

For some reason the first method is broken in my game (when I press 9 the camera goes to a different lot) so you really helped me out a lot, thanks!
Kathi I had this same issue! Seems like it’s due to us having the Sims 3 camera on, so we have to press ALT+9! Finally worked for me, hope this helps :)
I use the Sims 4 camera but I‘m gonna try your advice
It's not which camera it is, it's that you accidentally set a saved camera position. I don't know how or how to remove the saved camera position but I think you can find videos on them, but ctrl-9 should indeed work around it.

Hi! I'm a newbie & have a hard time following tutorials BECAUSE most go so fast for understanding....and their voices are irritating, they drone on off subject. I REALLY think your concentrated description was concise, your voice TRULY is easy to listen too and you're not squealing or laughing or or or. I think this is a GREAT job. I tried the 9 key thing but it didn't work is it only efficient with windows?cause I have a mac
how do you rotate the items like that. I can do it with stairs but i cant do it with anything else
I am able to freely move objects when I place it on the ground with my alt key, but when I try to freely move objects on any table top, it always snaps to the grid placement on the table tops. I have all three cheats enabled but I can’t seem to move it freely around on tables. My 0 and 9 key doesn’t work either. Can you help me?
Use trick 2 that I showed you, no one can move items around freely on table tops 😊✌🏻

How do you drag the red shelf to the same level as the table? I have the cheats on and can't move the red shelf down unless I put it on the floor and use the 9 and 0 keys to change the height.

I am trying to place a plant on top of a kitchen shelf, like you are doing in the tutorial. I place it first on the red shelf. Then I press alt, then I click left mousebutton on the item to move it. Then I can move it just fine, but it ends up halfway in the wall. I cannot drag it out from there, unless I drag it back to the red shelf, and then it will place where ever I need it to be on that shelf. bb.moveobjects on is enabled. I have tried so many times, cannot get it to place out of the wall.
im having the same problem... i think they may have patched it. ive been trying for over an hour and it keeps clipping halfway into the wall

Can you do a more in-depth tutorial using different objects and surfaces? Some issues I’m running into I’m using the shelf is when I try to place objects in the last shelf of the bookcase, the shelf goes into the floor. I cannot get it to adjust to the last shelf. I have a MAC and have to use the alt key to love the shelf around. Additionally, I have to clutter all of the “snappable” slots in order the place an item where I want on the bookcase. I also notice that if I move the shelf any closer to the center to place an item, the item comes off with the shelf when I move it.
There are some measurements the shelf cannot adjust to. As for the last problem, that’s normal.

this might be a stupid question but couldn't you use a regular shelf that's not cc or does that not work?
Not everything snaps onto a regular shelf, plus they only have 3 slots while the CC shelf has.... I dunno, a lot more 😅

When I press 9 or 0 my camera goes FLYING and it basically never raises or lowers the object
