For more HHN talk check out our new podcast Expedition Enthused. How many references to old Halloween Horror Nights did you hear in this episode? Here is a hint. Most houses are in the same location as the one i am talking about when i say them. If you hear a name twice it might mean that name has been used more than once! (Though only count Halloween once for the original old house) Please note filming inside the houses is not allowed. We were invited to be able to film inside the houses of HHN31.

@ Expedition Theme Park Regardless of what the event will be next year and beyond in the future, HHN will continue to influence me to write my own house and zone ideas. They’re something that you’re gonna love if you wanna see them.
So just to mention... Your videos are the videos I showed my wife before we were married, to get her prepared for HHN. She was from Iceland and was terrified of the theme parks, let alone going to the theme parks for Halloween. Last year... we got married during Halloween Horror Nights. We love your videos, and I don't think she would've been as interested in HHN if it weren't for the hype your videos helped generate with her.
@@ExpeditionThemePark Yeah thank you for what you do, and you are one of the people who Inspired me to display my enthusiasm for theme parks with videos. Also... I counted around 48 mentions of previous houses, but could be up to 56 depending on how cheeky you were being. I made a separate comment listing them all lol If only I could work this hard on my college work.
Forgive me for asking, but why was she terrified of theme parks in general? Did she think the rides were scary? I mean, I get that. I like going to theme parks for the theming and usually hold the bags while everyone else is on the rides, but...I'm genuinely interested to understand what's going on there.
This HHN was the best post-pandemic event I’ve been to. Dead Man’s Pier’s opening set was absolutely beautiful, with the violin playing against the wind & waves.
Always one of my favorite things about HHN each year is the Expedition Haunts Wrap-Up! I still binge watch past years whenever I'm really missing the event
Fiesta de Chupacabras was such a fun house! It seems huge, the line of sight thing you mentioned was so apparent last year with FdC and Dead Man's Pier: Winter's Wake. Genuinely, Winter's Wake was so breathtaking that it did even matter to me that it wasn't scary. I was so immersed that I got jump scared a few times while I was trying to take it all in. Classic Monsters was glorious, also my #1 house of the year. Dracula won my walk-through and at the end, he deeply bowed to me and presented the Wolfman's head. It felt weirdly personal, and a great way to end a very scary house.
In regards to the event feeling more family friendly, I didn’t know the HHN fandom felt that way about the event. I think it improves every year, better than being stuck in the Walking Dead no-icon era. This year was themed to classic Halloween all-around so ofc it feels a little kiddish, but it’s still got that disturbing twist like always, and it’s an awesome style.
Honestly agree, as someone who hasn't gone cause I am very afraid and dont live in the area, but love to watch videos on the history and some of the houses, its great to see a more classic halloween vibe for the year. As a sucker of the classic halloween aesthetic as well lol.
I think there's been a noticeable shift so it's more accessible to younger folks -- not necessarily a bad thing. Back in the day, before the alcohol limit, people would get drunker and it aimed to be more adult. With the alcohol limit and a shift in theming, it's less shit-faced people and more teenagers, adults, older adults, etc. Probably helps pull in the $ too
Thx for the video, and for the thx to scareactors. I was one of the Grabbers in Blumhouse. I get chills and weep some whenever I see new videos about us. That sounds silly, but, truly, once you’re in, you’re in a strange family of scary love. Can’t wait to see what this year holds.
I can't wait to go back and have one of the absolute best night(S) of my year with my friends and family. It's the best experience in the parks at night.
This was my first year at HHN. Did the RIP Tour and loved every minute in the park! The haunted atmosphere and themed foods were insane! Dead man's wake was a hauntingly beautiful house, and Nightmare Fuel was an incredible show!!
Genuinely got into this event through your history videos and I’ve been hooked ever since my first trip to HHN 30. Your content is incredible and thank you for introducing me to my favorite event!
I live through these videos! I have no one to go with to haunt events so this is the easiest way for me to experience them. Hopefully one day I can make it because it looks so amazing!
It occurs to me that, God willing, for the 40th anniversary of _Back to the Future,_ the unifying theme ought to be that everything takes place in the Biffhorrific 1985.
I got to admit, even though my trip was ripped apart with the hurricane I'm coming back from Minnesota to see it again. Got my hotel and dates plan. Last year was just amazing and really love the classic monster house the best.
I counted 40 references that I know for sure. But I don't know how sneaky you're being and I have 8 additional past house references that I'm not 100% sure you were trying to "sneak" in.🤔 Awesome video and thanks for making a fun little game for us big HHN fans. Hopefully will get a chance to see you guys in the fog and say hi!👻
HHN 2022 was my first year going. I only managed 4 houses and a show before my feet gave in. It was my 5th day in a row going to theme parks so my feet were very pained. I'm hoping to go again this year and get tickets for two days rather than one. My favorite house was Dead Man's Pier just because the theme was so good.
This year was my first year doing HHN in Hollywood. And, I have to thank your videos on the history of HHN and the Icons for being one of the major reasons I even gave Hollywood a try. As an Autistic person, it's hard for me to deal with scary stuff. But, you encouraged me to be brave enough to try. I had the time of my life!
I was SO proud to have worked at Dead Man's Pier, its the best looking house I've ever seen. But as gorgeous as the set was, I do have to admit Universal Monsters was my favorite house, and it definitely deserved house of the year. A lot more scary than ours was. Those actors were on their A-game and the scares were so fun and creative.
Hi Sam. I am more of a Mickey Not so Scary person. I like watching Expedition Enthused reactions to HHN. Keep the Scares coming and don't get Fooled on April 1st.

I think I counted 16 references to previous HHN houses😮 Love seeing HHN outside of haunt season! It makes me even more excited for this year’s event!🎃see you in the fog!👻
And now that I entered my 32...let me comment great video as always. I never got a good solid run thru Classic monsters, timing was off for me every time unfortunately! And I got to say you mentioned Scarecrow, that's like my all time fave original of my years of going!
The hit of Halloween 4 months early I didn't know I needed! I'd love to attend HHN, but the timing and pricing is tough for a workaday guy like me, so I live vicariously through your videos and reviews! I think the classic Halloween aesthetic was fun, and there were some solid themes, even if I'd jostle a few houses around in my personal rankings. Looking forward to the house reveals over the summer! (and crossing my fingers that Major Sweets gets a promotion to full haunted house this year)
My favourite houses have to be Universal Monsters Collide and The Weeknd.. I absolutely loved the story of Collide as Universal Monsters is always my favourite house I want to experience, specially this years with UM:Paris, and The Weeknd made me jump while also want me to dance throughout, loves the story as well
If my memory is correct, I think that Descendants of Destruction is actually a sequel to Seeds of Extinction, taking place after the meteor crash and the plants mutating.
Here is my Top 10 from last year: 1. Universal Monsters 2. Halloween 3. Descendants of Destruction 4. The Weeknd After Hours Nightmare 5. Horrors of Blumhouse 6. Dead Man's Pier: Winter's Wake 7. Hellblock Horror 8. Fiesta De Chupacabra 9. Spirits of the Coven 10. Bugs Eaten Alive
A lot of prison haunts used that electric chair prop with a prisoner in it. I always thought it would be much more effective with a civilian or guard in it, maybe with prisoners cheering.
Last year was my first time at the event, and I had a mostly enjoyable time. There were only a few little things that dampened the experience. The biggest being that I had my "Oh, This Isn't Fun Anymore" moment during Descendants of Destruction. It was a good house, but I had trouble navigating it- to the point that i almost walked into an actor and both me & my mom walked into the same wall- and I just couldn't do another house afterwards. A shame too, as I really enjoyed Monsters (got the triple scare, it was awesome) and was really looking forward to Dead Man's Pier, but it just wasn't meant to be. Another thing was the food. We got the Twisted Tater, which was fine, but the maggot dog was cold- like the cheese inside barely melted, cold. yet another shame, but as disappointed as i was, i wasn't mad or anything, it happens. Seems like we just had a dud night. However, the scare zones? On point, had a blast. And the rides were great to do at night, especially with the lower wait times. Definitely want to do it again, but perhaps with the behind the screams tour to get a good feel of the house layout first.

16 were mentioned I believe - Texas chains saw massacre - bride of Frankenstein lives - castle vampire (sp?) - descendants of destruction - the parade warehouse - universal monsters - haunting of hillhouse - the walking dead - Halloween 2014 house - the great scare zone - Yeti terror in the Yukon - the return of chuckie - Psycho Scarepy - Poltergeist - All Night Die in 1 - All Night Die in 2
Or 35 all together (zones and shows included and counting Blumhouse 2 as seperate handed houses under the main haunted house name) - spirits of the coven - Texas chains saw massacre - bride of Frankenstein lives - hell block horror - castle vampire (sp?) - horrors of Blumhouse - Freaky- - Grabbers dungeon of terror- - descendants of destruction - bugs eaten alive - the weekend after hours - the parade warehouse - universal monsters - haunting of hillhouse - fiesta de chupacabra (sp?) - the walking dead (?) - Halloween 2014 house - New Halloween House - Deadman’s pier winters wake - the great scare zone - Yeti terror in the Yukon - Universal Monsters legends collide - wicked growth Realm of the pumpkin house - the return of chuckie - Psycho Scarepy - Poltergeist - All Night Die in 1 - All Night Die in 2 - SCARE ZONE - horrors of Halloween - sweet revenge - conjure the dark - scare crow cursed soil - graveyard deadly unrest - SHOWS - Wildfire - Ghoulish a Halloween tale on Lagoon (destroyed by hurricane)
God I wish I didn't have a fever so I could prove my HHN fan status and name all the houses mentioned in the video.. Forgive me, Pumpkin Lord.. I did, however, hear Giggles and Gore. If you let me, I'll come back with a normal head and try this again.
It’s so interesting to me that so many people liked the chupacabra house cuz me and all my friends thought it was very lame 😅 we thought the puppets were very dumb looking, the house wasn’t scary and we were just waiting till it was over 😂 plus side tho, we danced a lot in this house as there was some great salsa music playing 🎉
I did a whole day at the park and 9 of the houses and all scared zones. I personally never really liked scare zones I mean it's a thing that just there to keep you entertained while walking to the other houses but all together not bad on each of them. I unfortunately didn't really have time for the blum house freaky and black phone but I personally only really liked four of them 4. bugs because I thought as far as a quick house was it was decent but not really scary, 3 weekends house because it was a mix of all of them kind of had some unique scares like a lady dressed in the same wall paper to scare you, two was Halloween because I never had a chance to do it before I know it was a remake house, one was the grandaddy of them all and I thought it was going to be bad because I couldn't see how they could make a dock with people in yellow jackets scary lol but it was the most in depth transporting and top budget house I have ever been in with snow wind smell everything taking you there and that was the reason Dead Man's Pier was the best. That being said It was my first Halloween horror night's since both I have moved to Florida and been to and was upset with how same most of the houses were like prison and descendents and destruction was very much the same. I also went to bush gardens horror houses and they were cheaper tickets and it was better quality in all houses and i liked the feinds show when I went and scare zones were cooler and wide range.
I love the puns of past houses in each location but a few weren’t fully accurate. Dead exposure was in tent 1 where destruction was not bugs. Dead waters was 24a where Chupacabra was, not dead man’s location. And the opposite for ghost town. Ghost town was 24b which was dead man’s was.
Hopeful for FNaF for Blumhouse next year, but damn is this year gonna be a heavy hitter My top pics this year are Stranger Things 3/4, Scream, The Last of Us, and The Weeknd Dawn FM: Afterlife
Gotta say, probably the timing when we walked through (as we didn't even get a 'winner' but your #1 was one of the worst for us. And that's with me being such a fan I had the shirt pre-purchased before even getting to FL.
Ironically last year was the first time in 30 years we didn't go (we started with year one). It has just gotten too crowded and too expensive for us nowdays.
Surreal nightmares in the mind of The Weekend? So it was a preview for The Idol I guess I'm sure that's a joke that hasn't been made even once since the show came out
Dead Man's Pier Winter's Wake was my favorite house, not the least of which because it felt the coldest. Very chilling on a warm night and made for a cool experience. Best scare moment, though, has to go to when the 3 Universal Monsters all pop-out at the same time all around you. It only happened once for me from what I can remember even though I went through the house a few times. I really liked the Prohibition speak easy theme of Spirits of the Coven, but there were just better houses to walk through.
Thinking of flying down this year just for this. We are debating whether or not it's worth it because due to timing this year it won't be more than a weekend.

@Expedition Theme Park Shot you a Twitter DM. Might be slow on the response cause I'm at work today lol and I happen to work at a prison. (Literally) Now I'm wondering what I missed though 🤔
As far as I'm aware Halloween/All Hallow's Eve is not christian in nature. You are correct that All Saints day lands on November 1st, tho All Saints is a Catholic holiday specifically, not non-denominational christian. Catholics at least, i know a lot who avoid halloween like the plague becisee of it's pagan origins. Im not a huge fan (I'm Catholic) but i do sometimes dress up and hand out candy. Modern day halloween is mostly harmless but I'm pretty sure most Catholics dont celebrate.

Here is my Top 10 from last year:
1. Universal Monsters
2. Halloween
3. Descendants of Destruction
4. The Weeknd After Hours Nightmare
5. Horrors of Blumhouse
6. Dead Man's Pier: Winter's Wake
7. Hellblock Horror
8. Fiesta De Chupacabra
9. Spirits of the Coven
10. Bugs Eaten Alive
I LOVED Bugs. I would’ve done it more than once if it weren’t so busy
Absolutely loved the weeknd house
A lot of prison haunts used that electric chair prop with a prisoner in it. I always thought it would be much more effective with a civilian or guard in it, maybe with prisoners cheering.
It’s a classic
“What are your evening plans?” Watching all of Expedition’s Halloween Horror nights videos 😅
Me too! 😂
A Terrifier house would be awesome
I appreciate how long these take to put together
Thank you
An AMAZING Easter-egg would've been if the Universal Legends were looking for the amulet from 'Monster Squad'! XD
I agree with your rankings completely.
Wishing for the eventual return of the Caretaker.

Love your Halloween Horror Nights vids
God I wish I didn't have a fever so I could prove my HHN fan status and name all the houses mentioned in the video..
Forgive me, Pumpkin Lord..
I did, however, hear Giggles and Gore.
If you let me, I'll come back with a normal head and try this again.
Ok I'm at 32 after listening once and supposed to be working too!! Lol... may come back and revise!! 😂
I’m so pumped now for 2023 I’m hoping to do LA and Orlando in one week lol 🎃
That will be amazing!
Thanks for this! Felt like I was there! Is it me, or did the flapper witch premise sound like a great plot for a film?
I can see that!
That would be awesome
Where do you find the synthe wave beats for your videos??
i got 43 i think i might have counted wrong but it is in the forties but i also counted when you named dropped the mummy, the wolfman, and dracula
1) Halloween
2) Bugs
3) dead man’s pier
Love the vids! So hype for HHN
Thanks so much
Deadman’s Wharf was the best house by far.
What’s the name of the song playing in the background on this video at 3:17
I love the puns of past houses in each location but a few weren’t fully accurate.
Dead exposure was in tent 1 where destruction was not bugs.
Dead waters was 24a where Chupacabra was, not dead man’s location.
And the opposite for ghost town. Ghost town was 24b which was dead man’s was.
I would like to see another sequel to Screamhouse.
Okay I just recounted and got 50 previous houses.
Is this a segue from Carowinds to Scarowinds?
Hopeful for FNaF for Blumhouse next year, but damn is this year gonna be a heavy hitter
My top pics this year are Stranger Things 3/4, Scream, The Last of Us, and The Weeknd Dawn FM: Afterlife
Gotta say, probably the timing when we walked through (as we didn't even get a 'winner' but your #1 was one of the worst for us. And that's with me being such a fan I had the shirt pre-purchased before even getting to FL.
Have you looked into the curse at Alton manor
Ironically last year was the first time in 30 years we didn't go (we started with year one). It has just gotten too crowded and too expensive for us nowdays.
sill wating for disneyland 50th anniversary and viper and blizzard beach and walt disney w.
Great episode!
Thank you!
Another Great Video Sam! Did you see the new alton towers ride? (Curse Of Alton Manor)
Yes can’t wait to ride it!
I haven't finished a guess but I'll venture a guess in the dark to earn that "prize": Is iiiit... 31? 😉
Halloween house and the weekend
I want to see a maze based eitherbased on the last of us or Resident Evil Village
Yessssssss spooky stuff!
Woooo
Surreal nightmares in the mind of The Weekend? So it was a preview for The Idol I guess
I'm sure that's a joke that hasn't been made even once since the show came out
Since they shut down the night time show in general, i'm really not sure if they'll be able to do that fountain show again....
I would suggest if you can swing it grab express or do a RIP tour to make the most if it

You are soooo close but I am impressed. Message me on social media somewhere
@Expedition Theme Park Shot you a Twitter DM. Might be slow on the response cause I'm at work today lol and I happen to work at a prison. (Literally)
Now I'm wondering what I missed though 🤔
@@ExpeditionThemePark I found the rest, but I'll leave my comment as is so other people can have fun finding them lol
If we don't get a The Last of Us house at 32 I'll be devastated
Just had to come back and say that I can't be any more delighted than I am right now
Did you read my mind, I've been binging HHN content. Also I'm gonna guess 25, I'm to lazy to count and think at the moment 😅
Must have!
Last of us house PLEASE!
Hope so!
You are cool 😎 😊
No you are cool!
