I was wondering why Radical Highway in Shadow Generations felt like it was missing something and this video made me realize what: The original felt like a red highway illuminated by a yellow city below. It is a VERY bright stage, despite being set at night, probably to make Shadow easier to spot. Generations' replaces most of the original lighting and replaces it with a red fog which makes stage elements start to blend together, meaning you're now able to occasionally lose Shadow when not boosting. I also think the emphasis on the warping background buildings, rather than the highway itself, loses some of the recognizability too.
This just reminded me that all the NiGHTS buildings were missing in Generations. I can understand the "Got Ring?" being removed but NiGHTS is something Sonic Team/SEGA owns. Funnily, you can still see highway signs mention other SEGA properties like Amigo for example.
I loved both of these versions. But what Shadow Generations really did was make me want a Sonic Frontiers style game where you play as Shadow. I mean so many of the animations and moves Shadow gets remind me of what Shadow would have had in that kind of game
I liked how Shadow used to have a sort of ‘evolution of speed’ in his animations. Jogging, then slow and graceful skating, then really fast skating where it looks like he puts his whole body behind it. I like Shadow’s current animations, very powerful and methodical but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss seeing him just blitz down a slope

@@ventaverv3793 yeah I agree this is an insightful comment, it feels a lot more greenish blue than dark red
Maybe we will get a mod that improves the missing details
It also lacks the iconic NiGHTS building.
Ah, yeah that's probably what happened
it just doesn't look right to me at all... Of all stages, why did Radical Highway have to get fucked over?
@UltimatePhantasm I wouldn't say all that, it's just a bit different
Shadows default skating animation is literally perfect in SA2, I’d never change it.

They both were in Generations. Just the 3DS version tho.
NiGHTS is a threat to Black Doom's power
Let's not forget the SOAP blimp.
I mean, Got Ring is different enough to be safe.
Thx for the heart btw

Radical Highway and Radical Buildings too!
I like Radical Highway more than Radical Highway
Radical Highway does have its advantages over Radical Highway, but Radical Highway is where it's at
Dude, they are both the same stage and the same thing.😂😅

I'll have to disagree with you on this one

@@NoBop2000 maybe shadow appears in frontiers 2
I like SA2’s animations way better. More fire on the boots and Shadow skates more than glides like Silver
It's a mod sadly
@@autisticgamer8664 I replayed sa2 recently. Point still stands

Is the the dreamcast version? Shadow’s animations seem different
@@yukotrey9422 I'm using animation overhaul mod
I honestly feel like Shadow Generations did RH dirty. It’s based on the original stage rather than being an homage, like it should have been.
Well I somehow thought this would be the Black Doom Variants that appear throughout other levels. Now I’m spoiled.
Whoops.
I'm kinda confused but I'm sorry if I spoiled you
Not your fault man. It’s on me for not finishing the game yet. I’ve had it for a while.
Radical Highway is one of my favorite Sonic Adventure 2 levels!!!
yeah i think radical highway clears radical highway for sure

Cool video 👍
Why did this video blow up so much
The algorithm can do that 👍
The thumbnail is clickbait, I expected them to be side by side.
im sorry
@farawaygaming_ it's ok, I still liked the video.
