Salina Turda is an ancient Romanian salt mine that has been converted into an amusement park.
These massive pits are only partially restored and rennovated, most of it lies abandoned, but one of the shafts has been put into a strange use.
‪@evazubeck‬and I decide to have a date night in this wild place.

You missed the solid reason of this playground. Did you know that the air you breath in its healthy down there. People go to get treatment. They used to sit around and be bored. Like this they made it more fun.

Exactly, its there especially for kids that go there in groups for long rehabilitation sessions and they get bored, so they put some games in there for them.

I visited that place two years ago with my family. One of the workers actually took is down a closed tunnel when me and my cousin found a ladder in the ground right before you would actually enter the mine. We asked the tour guide where it leads and he actually took us down there xD. I still have the salt chrystal that guide gave me :). It was very interesting to see how the tunnels the workers carved out centuries ago looked like. Ma back hurt all day after that since I'm tall and wasn't able to stand up straight in the tunnels😆

Hi Mike, there is an even easier way to remember stalactites vs stalagmites that I have always used. The "G" in stalagmites stands for them coming the "Ground" wheras stalactites have a "C" meaning they are coming from the "Ceiling." But if your way is easier for you more power to you.

9:27 I paddled in that same place 8-9 years ago. What a fantastic place it was. Did you know that there are 2 more huge circular caverns that are not open to the public? I heard that if you fall into the water at the bottom of those other holes, there is no way to get you out again. I threw a small stone into one and it seemed to take forever to make a splash at the bottom. At 9:33 you can see the opening at the top for this cavern. The other two are the same as this one but dark and inaccessible.
I don't think they used machines to mine the salt but sprayed water on the walls and pumped the saturated salt water back to the surface. Using water rather than machinery is why the walls are so smooth.
That was Eva with you? Now I know why I liked her at first sight. She is such a positive and fun person. I love her channel.

we have a salt mine open for tours about 2 hours from where i live. its in the center of kansas. i won't go down it (claustraphobic), but from the pictures, they look like you just ride trams around the halls while getting a history of it. this seems like a much more interesting way to learn about salt's history.

I live near (like 30km from the salt mine), in Cluj-Napoca, the highest life standards city in all of Romania. I have been there, its actually an museum on the upper tunnels, but they had the idea to put some things to bring tourist to the museum. Even the redbull team jumped in the lake from the top. Hope you come back to Romania and visit Cluj-Napoca. We will welcome you with our doors open😉😉

@Fearless & Fear, Mike, my easiest way to remember which one is which when it comes to mineral deposits in caves...the word Stalagmite has a letter "g" as in "ground" = deposits formed on the ground. Stalactite has a letter "c" as in "ceiling" = deposits formed on the ceiling. Trick I learned way back in grade school, a long time ago 😁 Thank you for sharing. I would love to visit this place someday👍

I always learned stalactites stick tight to the ceiling and stalagmites stick mighty up from the ground.

My trick for stalactites and stalagmites is French but still ... stalactites is having a T like "Tomber'' -falling and stalagmites is having a M like ''Monter''-going up.

I've been to a salt mine in Kansas where part of it is now a museum, but I've never seen anything like this. These caverns are unspeakably huge.

Basically in Turda we are siting on salt and this could be a problem, the salt and water dont make for a good combination

My mom always said stalactites hold tight to the ceiling and stalagmites might touch the ceiling.

I remember it because..... STALAGTITES are from above because they hold on TIGHT to the ceiling. STALAGMITES are from below because you MIGHT trip on them

As a kid I often had lung problems so the doctor often prescribed a week or so visit there to "clean my lungs" with the salty air. It was really nice and cozy in the early 90-s .. then 10 or so years later some entrepreneur bloke had the "great" idea to do this. totally ruined the mood. I don't think most people go there anymore for the air anymore. Back then you could barely get in. i remember having to wait for hours at a time just to reach the ticket booth for the mine bus that ran from the entrance deeper inside and back.

😃🤣 I knew you both would be super competitive. Fun date nite location. It looks much less crowded & much quieter than previous vloggers footage - guess COVID-19 has impacted on tourism in Romania.
