Shoshana is truly one of the best performers of our generation. She's so versatile as both an actress and a singer to the point where I could see her smashing every role she plays.
I hope we get to see her as Fanny on Broadway one day; she doesn't copy Streisand's version of Fanny but makes Fanny her own, which most people can't really do. She IS Fanny when she performs as Fanny, yet she makes the role fresh.
I would also love to see her as The Witch in Into The Woods, I'm sure she'd sing an incredible Last Midnight.

Sam Kearney-Edwardes omg disagree whole heartedly. No one can out sing the lady but she is doing so muchhhh acting wise all the time and not in a good way. Like it all really always needs to be pulled back 50%.
Joshua Landon nah acting through song is what makes it such a performance. i don’t really think it’s over the top at all, and in the moments where it is, the acting feels very coherent with the part of the song. just my opinion; you’re entitled to yours of course.

Barbra was clearly her template for the first song. It shocked me to hear how much she sounded like Barbra in the verses.
@@noahmoment my comment was saying that Shoshanna's treatment of Always Better (Bridges of Madison County) sounded like Barbra, especially the verses ... All the Funny Girl comments reinforced my initial reaction.
Now as I listen to it again, I feel the same way about the verses - I hear Barbra in Shoshanna's voice throughout, except for the highest notes that sound more classical than broadway in the way Shoshanna executes the vowels and vibrato.
I mean this all as a compliment to Shoshanna. I grew up on Barbra Streisand - she is in my vocal DNA.

I think the way Shoshana looks really limits the roles that she is considered for when clearly she can do anything. I didn't think she would be a good Jenna simply becuase of her appearance and vibe, but she was phenomenal and could also clearly play any role.

It's the standard choice when doing a solo song out of context. It takes a lot of time and training with a dialect coach to get an accent right, so no one really does it for one song.
