    When you lock up the saftey cables to your tow hitch you should be doing it criss cross so if you trailor comes unhookd some how the trailor will fall into the cables like a cradle.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому +4

      It makes since what you are saying but it would have been nice if they included that info in the manual for this trailer. The manual says nothing about criss crossing cables. It just says secure the cables with a padlock. Thanks for the tip.

    • @aaronpitts2073
      @aaronpitts2073 6 років тому

      @@CycleCruza i juat meant that you should hook the left side cable on the right side of your tow hitch and the right cable on the left side of the tow hitch. Im not sure if that makes any since but with a normal trailor thats how you should hook it.

    The safety cables you’re suppose to cross them just in case the trailer falls off the ball. But other than that it looks amazing.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому +1

      eh either way it's locked on

    • @boydhvac7940
      @boydhvac7940 6 років тому +5

      Crossing your cables/chains will catch the hitch if it falls off the ball, instead of it the hitch spearing into the road. It is law in Canada and a $400.00 from the Ministry of Transport of they aren't crossed.

    • @alphacapo
      @alphacapo 6 років тому +1

      Cross the cables. Don't be a douche

    • @alphacapo
      @alphacapo 6 років тому +1

      And why are they cables and not chains with hooks???

    • @Jonathan0692
      @Jonathan0692 6 років тому

      Jerk Ass a lot of the new smaller trailers are using cables now not chains because they are suppose to be better than chains which I don’t see how but I don’t make trailers so I guess they know something I don’t.

    I've been waiting for this review I live near Cleveland and my girlfriend is near Cincinnati my motorcycle is up here her motorcycle is down there now you can see the problem I was thinking about getting a Kendon and that's what I thought this was I'm impressed that it's not and you cannot beat that price thank you very much for this review

  • @garyrossington2143
    @garyrossington2143 5 років тому +2

    Just a FYI to you guys considering renting a uhaul motorcycle trailer. There is no insurance you can buy that covers theft of the trailer. you'll be on the hook for its full replacement cost.

  • @blockeduser5769
    @blockeduser5769 6 років тому +2

    Thats a nice little trailer , you did good on that. I would re-locate those 2 shelves on the wall and figure out how to get it chained to the wall so it barely takes up any space.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому +2

      It stays up on it's own, pulling back more vertical doesn't really add any more room. It takes up very little room as you see. This trailer saves like 1k over a Kendon and it's just as good, imo.

    • @4-n52
      @4-n52 6 років тому +2

      I was on the fence until you said 1k savings. That's a pretty significant savings. Can buy some good gear with that 1k.

    • @blockeduser5769
      @blockeduser5769 6 років тому +1

      CycleCruza ps safety chain doesn't need to be taught and pulling out the screws with all the weight of the trailer pulling on the chain. A little slack would take the stress off things and provide a safer experience. In case something were to happen.

  • @vasel208

    👍👍👍👍👍 Nice. I bought a 7x4 box trailer over a year. Great decision. The box trailer has multiple uses. When not carrying my bike. I use it for:
    e.g taking rubbish to the tip or delivering items.

    FYI - There are hooks on the axle for the rear tie down hook up. I did not see them! My bad!

  • @billsmart2532
    @billsmart2532 6 років тому +1

    CycleCruza, I love your ongoing saga! Here you showed the weak design of this nerd trailer. Has only 1 useful purpose, must be kept inside, must be assembled, and cheap front wheel chock.
    PS: Your tie down method is newbee, and will shake loose on rough pavement quickly, the heavier the bike, the more quickly it'll fail.
    I learned by trial and error over time, trailering bikes after purchasing and for track days.
    The front wheel must be secured in a vice tight chock, the rear wheel tied down, and the chassis allowed to bob free on the suspension.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому +1

      The suspension was not fully compressed, only morons would do that. However, I did not hook up the tie downs on the axle hooks for the rear of the bike like I should have because I did not see them, the manual did not illustrate them. This trailer has suspension and rode over these pot-hole ridden shitty cleveland streets like a champ as you see in the video. It's a solid trailer. Btw, this trailer is only for my Ducati XDiavel, I built a custom bug out moto van for my other bikes. This trailer does fine with my 545 lb Ducati Xdiavel.

    • @billsmart2532
      @billsmart2532 6 років тому

      I must admit, it looks like the bike is tight on the roads! Going around corners with a big heavy bike will be the real test. The front wheel chuck may be decent, and that's the most important component. My front chuck is homemade from 3/4 plywood re-enforced with steel angle iron, and that took some design trial and error to perfect, but I'm a professional carpenter and enjoyed the challenge. 10 years ago, there was not good info about wheel chucks. I tried a midrange chuck and it was a fail. The good chucks were kinda pricey too. Hope you used a very good wheel chuck in your van. Best of riding for you!!

    Good video :) you should shorten those safety cables on the trailer and when attaching then to the hitch cross then over. So left to right and ect. Way that if the ball does give way it will full on the cross the cables make

  • @wkdravenna
    @wkdravenna 6 років тому

    Instead of locks, I think you could just get a strong chain link with the quick link style. Much quicker then maybe loosing the locks. Unless we are rollin thru the hood.
    All the enclosed trailers I've ever owned or towed once they are empty they jump around over bumps and make a bunch of annoying sounds. Slow down for rail road tracks they will feel like they are launching to the moon. Heh that's how light trailers work.

    When you’re on the highway at 70mph and up, does it vibrate the entire vehicle? With the U-Haul motorcycle trailer it vibrates your entire truck if you exceed 55mph.

      Thanks for being a viewer! The big con to those stonger trailers is they are too narrow for a fat 240 rear tire and you have to assemble it every time you want to use it. My trailer doesn't take up much room and is ready to go any time and is more sturdy.

  • @ginjaninja1153
    @ginjaninja1153 6 років тому +1

    HOWWW MUUUUCH?!! I expected it to be no more than $500.
    It's a decent quality trailer with some great innovative features but way too expensive for what it is. For that money you can get a decent used box trailer kitted out with a work bench & racking inside. Keeps your bike dry when it rains keeps you dry in the paddock or where your parked up &,when on the move no one can see what' iyour towing . So no reason to follow you home & break into your garage later. This happens a lot where I live.

    It looks like it could become unstable if it were to be bumped. I know its relatively light weight, but if it falls on a bike its probably gonna hurt your feelings. Id test to see what it would take to knock it over. To make it fool proof just screw an I Hook to the wall and use one of your tie down straps where the ball goes in.

    How come you chose to buy a trailer? Looks like any of your bikes could fit in the BO van. Maybe except your Ducati.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому +1

      bought for ducati, too low and wide for van. However, it's nice having a trailer like this, makes towing super easy.

      In the shop, air condition went out. However, I wanted to do a review on the trailer and had to take the wr in. I bought the trailer for my XDiavel because it doesn't fit in the van, too wide and low.

      Actually, I got the trailer for that XDiavel that i had, it was too low and fat for the van. However, I like the trailer even better for local towing.

    You did a fine job with the video. But $2500 for a single rail motorcycle trailer is completely insane. It doesn't matter what tricks it can do. I'm sure it is a nice trailer. But $2500! For that! Not happening!

    • @Bass.Player
      @Bass.Player 6 років тому

      Yeah but they all go in the same direction. If you tied down say a tractor on a flat bed trailer here in this state like that the Department of Public safety would fine you...

I act a fool on YT sometimes and cussed like a trucker in the past. This is not a good look to clients or God forbid I had to get a "good job." Also, screw fame even at the lowest level. I've seen many tubers get robbed and killed over the years from crazy people.

    I've been looking at the kendon version of this for a while now, but damn are they expensive. Can the trailer be stood straight up and down? Also when towing the CBR, how do you tie it down in the front? Kendon recommends using the triple tree instead of the bars.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому

      no but it stand up just fine and is not in the way. This trailer is legit. Use triple tree.

      Update: I just checked. Those cables are so long it doesn't matter, tongue will still hit the ground if it came undone. Btw, underneath, the cables are bolted up and down from each other so you can't cross them, either way you put the cable on is the same.

      CycleCruza its all good. In my whole life I’ve never had a trailer come off the ball. In fact, I’ve never seen it happen to anyone else either. I’m not saying it can’t happen, I’ve just never seen it happen. Keep on towing the way ya do. If it does come off with yours, it would be a good upload! Jk

    • @CycleCruza

      I rented one once, I hated it and hated having to pick it up and return it. Also, they don't ride as nice as this fold up trailer. I don't care about the savings, I like the convenience of having a trailer ready to roll anytime and it takes up very little space.

    • @garyrossington2143

      Just looked into the uhaul motorcycle trailer for a 1 week trip. The trailer is not covered if stolen even with their extra damage coverage. You'll be liable for about 6k if stolen.

  • @blockeduser5769

    Don't leave this thing unattended for more than 30 seconds in a Walmart parking lot. There are scumbags out there that will have this thing with or without your bike driving down the road behind their truck in under a minute.. You might want to add a normally closed loop on a connector if your car or truck already has an alarm. So that when they run up and pull the lighting connectors they see and pull that connector too , opening the loop and setting off the alarm.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому

      I would never leave it unattended, this is used just to go to the dealer or shop, photoshoot. Yeah a lot of thieves out there. If I were going across the country I would have much better security.

    Damn...too bad it's one of those where you have to have a trailer license plate and lights. I wish I could find one of those without the need of a license plate ( meaning no part of the trailer blocks visual access to my car's taillights and signal lights).

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 років тому

      (nods). Currently if I need to tow my rebel 300 2017 around, I use a one-wheel motorcycle dolly thats connects straight to my adapted 1.25" receiver hitch and I strap it down to it's cross bar T that connects into it from the top. However, eventually I plan to sell it or trade it in to buy the nc750x which is the bike I should have bought, but I didn't feel like waiting the extra many months saving the extra 3 to 4 grand it costs. It's more comfy than my cramped rebel ( 32" inseam here. the rebel 300 and 400 2017 and newer year models were really meant for someone who is around 22" to 27" insteam at longest). But I can handle it for now. I love that 80+ mpg I consistently get if I ride her easily.
      Cheers. CC Thanks for your content. No FOOked up daaaaaaaaaayeeees. xD

    Now, try lifting it with two hands to stand it upright. Almost impossible as it keeps rolling forward. Nobody has a video for that! A second person is a necessity unless you like torturing yourself.
    Better off with an "Apogee" folding aluminum trailer. Easy to fold. It won't roll when you fold it. Far better quailty.
