Nice work on that front wheel. I’m a bit surprised salvage parts for the CB500 and 550 aren’t more readily available. Honda sold tens of thousands of them year after year for a long time. This custom job is coming together so well.
The used parts are out there, but most are rougher than what I have. Plus the prices are out of sight on the rough parts. The fenders and wheels are available brand new still, but I could re-chrome the existing parts cheaper, plus the rear rim is not the stock Honda rim. I like the look of it, so I'd kinda like to keep it with the look it has by getting another wheel like it in much better shape, or re-chrome it in the future. Maybe this spring I'l run to a motorcycle salvage yard in Yale Mi., to see if they have some decent used parts.
@@guyfuller1369 If they don't object to me videoing, I will get some video. It's buildings full to the rafters of used parts, plus junk bikes outside around the buildings. Been there many times.
Surprisingly the rear wheel is cleaning up almost as nice, other than the chrome on the wheel its self is poor at best. It's not the factory stock wheel..... I have been looking for a better used one like it, but a nice one cost about what it would cost to re-chrome the existing wheel. I think it's a 16" Harley wheel from the 70's. All the brake and hub stuff is the stock CB500 Honda parts.
Coming right along. Keep those flat handlebars. The next owner may prefer the stock look over the hangers (like i would if it were me). Keep up the good work. Loving this mini series.
Yes I plan on keeping them with the bike. The ape hangers will be much more comfortable for riding though, so I doubt anyone would want to reinstall them, as they kinda go with the rest of the bikes custom look. I would think if someone would want stock bars, maybe they should just purchase a nice original bike.... they're out there and reasonable priced. I almost purchased the other bike in the estate sale to rob the bars off.... I would have swapped the bars, making the other bike 100% stock to resell. Kinda wish I did now, but it's too late now, as that bike sold just before I purchased this one.
looking great- I had some pretty good luck years ago with a Suzuki chain guard that was plastic, I was able to polish it and it did come around. If your is cracked though that is another story.
I’m sure you already know this trick, but for that chrome rim that has some pitting I have a small can of brush paint that I use an art brush and dab it in there afford some protection for it to not re-rust and also blends it in with the chrome pretty good if you don’t look too closely! Been enjoying this project you’re so fast at everything and so thorough. Keep up the good work merry Christmas.
Yeah, I may do that to the few spots on the front wheel, but the rear would need to be completely painted and I think that would look bad so I'm just leaving it as-is..... Though it is cleaning up surprisingly nice. I think the chain grease protected a lot around the hub. Either the next owner can leave it as it is, or replace the rear wheel with a better one, or have it re-chromed.
Howard you got your bike looking very nice coming together. My prostate cancer came back and now my doctor don't want nothing to do with me so now I'm out looking for another doctor I don't know what happened to him why he's avoiding me there's four other doctors there four people underneath him that could take care of me too anyways thank you for the video and merry Christmas and a happy New Years if I didn't say it already
I've ridden and restored many motorcycles in 40 years but sold my last two. Too many distracted drivers. People on their phones. I loved to ride but its not worth it anymore.
Yep, I ride like I'm invisible. Most of the issues I have is often in neighborhoods, form people running stop signs to people back out of driveways without looking......
Hello Howard. That bike is getting the "Howard" treatment for sure! Excellent job as usual. Did you ever figure out who cut your Christmas light wires? George B.
Looking very nice. thanks for all the great videos.
lookin good, front forks on its really coming together nicely
Surprisingly the rear wheel is cleaning up really nice too, thought it really does need to be re-chromed.
Great looking bike....

Good video, front wheel also looks good.
That's really coming together nicely !

Yep, it's cracked, but my brother welded it up..... he has a bunch of plastic welding stuff.

Wow, thats horrible about the doctor. Very unethical. Hopefully everything goes good for you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too!
👍👍👍
Did you put on new tires on the rims
No, it's the tire that came with the bike.... I does still have most of the nubs and flashing, so I dot think it has any miles on it.
I've ridden and restored many motorcycles in 40 years but sold my last two. Too many distracted drivers. People on their phones. I loved to ride but its not worth it anymore.
I see a lot of folks coming left of center on me lately and I believe it's because they are distracted

No, I need to run Nextdoor to see if they have anything on video.
The bolts on the top of the shocks on the triple tree that you painted black, you should paint them engine color. I mean that's what I think!!
I thought about that, but a lot of the other bolts I painted satin black, so I kinda wanted to keep that look.
