I keep looking for a button saying "Pay here" - How is it that one can sit here listening to these geniuses for free ?, and over and over again. Thanks for sharing ! Yellowjackets, man !, a favourite for many years ! Love the (new...) bassist too - priceless :-)
This performance brings back so many memories of the era I grew to know the Yellowjackets. I was such a massive fan of Jimmy's playing during that time. Has to be said Dane has raised the game, he's got the lot! Plus he has a sound that perfectly suits the band. Now he's on fretless. Impeccable intonation, so much tonal variety always with a thick bottom end. 3 albums and 7 years in, he's a proven keeper! Such a humble guy too. It's easy to see the guys love having him around. I really hope they make it to the UK.
Horrible when jimmy left, Russo left....Dane is the best sub. He is different, but close to jimmy. But jimmy actually spent time with Jaco. Ear jimmy haslip Otmaro Ruiz jimmy Branly....Red Wall....I been a fan since the Hornet 1981 Ricky Lawson rip....Robben Ford.....if he coulda waited....Marc, Will, Russel and Jimmy is my favorite lineup.
Have you heard Dane with Andrew Fisenden? In my opinion, their lock was better. Andy and Dane complimented each other so well and took good rhythm sections to whole new level. Search VOID on Spotify. Keen to hear what you think.
Will Kennedy - one of the most underrated drummers out there. He is a top notch groove master and gentlemen. He has such a great pocket that keeps this band locked together.
Yellow Jackets' genius lies in lightness. Each composition is a nugget, revealing a rare harmonic richness and subtlety beneath its ingenuous exterior. A trip to Yellow country is always an incomparable experience.
Hey Will Kennedy, I'm the guy with the little green skull cap at the Indianapolis jazz kitchen shows you guys always give us a night to remember, superb jazz great after show conversations pictures what a night.
Greenhouse and Like a River are my favorite Yellowjackets recordings, recorded 30 years ago! Greenhouse with the Metropole orchestra is amazing live as well.
Right?! SO MUCH great music! You might also like "Claus Ogerman - Gate of Dreams. Out Of Town on the Four Corners CD has been a long time favorite of mine. I love the build and solos...
Finally the engineer got Will's bass drum sounding so nice and punchy on Parallel Motion. Congrats on the Grammy nomination, guys. It couldn't be better placed. I can not stop listening and playing my kit to this wonderful bit of YellowJacket history! Loving Dane on bass!!! Phenomenal!!!!!
What can one say about this level of talent, connection, and joy of expression? I've been following Russ and the group's evolution since the beginning and it always seems brand new. I love what Dane has brought to the group. Exquisite compositions handled with such deft. Thank you Yellowjackets!
Dane is playing at the highest level, makes me not miss Mr. Haslip, and the group keeps the Yellowjackets sound! I believe, Mr Kennedy is particularly happy to play with Dane. I hope this Roster, keeps for many years ahead. To much talent in this 4 musicians!
I've been a fan of Yellowjackets for over 25 years. They are my favorite band and I've seen them twice. They are at their best in this show. Jackets are never loud and overpowering. They are always crisp, clean and melodic. They are never ragged; always precise. Since you're already tuned in, you're in for a treat.
I love Bob Minzer to bits....he has correct spelling of chords. He bends along nicely with the harmony, he follows nicely and respectfully so.... Love u Bob..
Can't get enough of this. I saw them live in Hawaii. Unforgettable concert! And these gentlemen were so gracious as well, meeting, greeting and giving autographs. They could not be more genuine.
We saw them at the Bistro in 2011 (I think). It was one of the best concers I have ever seen. It's so good to see they're still togeher, but I miss Mr Haslip
How beautiful you have been making music for so many years! May God preserve you musical friends of Yellowjackets+ My special regards to Will, whom I had met in Paris at the BAGSHOW! My brother drummer I love your game, you are a very good person too! in J.c.+amen!
Everything about this gig is perfect. Big shout out to the video editors and sound engineers. And the audience is so well behaved in the presence of some of the best, most complex jazz they are likely to hear. Every musician is unbelievable.
They must have asked for good behavior for the sake of recording. If I was there when he said "Greenhouse" I would have been like WHHOOOOO YEAAAAAHHHH!!!!
simply beyond words.... love Bob Mintzer playing the EWI.... the drummer.. the whole group are simply superbe...Russell Ferrante great writer.... amazing works....
Great! I miss Haslip but they are great together - respect to anybody playing for Jimi instead. I loved YJ since i started out playing Jazz more than 30 Years ago. Thank you for this masterpiece.
Kudos to Russell for coaching Mintzer for decades to play from his soul not just mind, your work is paying off, as a band just brilliant, Will Kennedy remains consistently and inconspicuously outstanding as usual. Dane, I love that you embraced the spirit YJ before actually becoming one and we are all proud of you. (no dis to the Great Jimmy Haslip without which the earlier trajectory would have been very different, and our enjoyment would have missed this current evolution. (Listening since 1981)
When I first heard their live track New Jig, it showed me just how important the Bass guitar is. Would love for all of you to listen to one of my favorite YJ tracks of all time(Savannah).
Looks like an Eden WT (judging by the colour of the dials) They were THE brand in the 90s/early 00s. If memory serves me correctly David Eden worked for SWR, then branched out on his own.
@@waynematthews8165 David Nordschow is his name. He collaborated with Steve Rabe at SWR on the early Goliath cabinets, but I don't believe he was an SWR employee. They may have worked together at A.M.P. before that.
@@waynematthews8165 you're welcome. I was wrong about A.M.P.; their collaboration was while Eden Electronics was still producing FOH concert systems, but they transitioned to bass gear following the SWR collaboration. Interesting history.
This is what I’m talking about!! This is jazz! I love “Ancestors”!!
The genius of Russell Ferrante….

A group tha I loved it since 1988. No comment. Super
Fretless back in......that sound in this band is magical
You fucking don't know, how the fretless bass sounds.................

Dave Weckl was at this show. He gave a shout-out to the band during his live stream yesterday.

Superb dynamics in a venue that is obviously as acoustically sensitive as a church. Will Kennedy nails it even at such low volume.

Greenhouse gives me the chills, when you realise this was written back in 91 and where we are now with climate change.
