A few years back my neighbour and I used feed two hedgehogs one male and one female I supplied the the Cat food at first as he didn't have any cats, I used to purchase it straight from the manufacturer for my cat and a little stray that I used to feed, so he feed them every day and I used to take over when they were on holiday, they presented the area with babies and while we had them all our gardens were Slug and Snail free but after five years they seem to move on but the slugs and snail populations have not gone back to the large numbers we used to have why I don't know considering all the rain we have had, enough to float half a dozen Ark Royals, Hope you little Snufferly gets better and starts a family with he's mrs's when he finds one.🦔🦔

We used to give a huge polish welder a lift into work and one morning he had us in fits. Drinking his morning coffee with the back door open, tiny clonking in the yard he heard a the yard. It was a hedgehog with it's head stuck in a food can, well as you can imagine it's a prickly job to help them. A pair of welders gloves did the trick and the can was removed the animal put down next to the cats food. The hedgehog turn his head up toward Michael and gave him a huge smile as a thank you.
Well the story told with a polish accent and looking at Michaels hands it was a wonder the poor animal was not squeezed to death and as for the smile to sat thank you has me chuckling again.

Well done Mr p they are delightful animals I feed the hedgehogs every night with hedgehog food from Amazon they love it and so do the Robbins have a nice day too-da-loo.

Poor little sod. He does look thin (there supposed to be kinda round when rolled up, he’s kinda pear shaped) you can also put some water down as it’s surprising how little is around for them. I’m trying to remember what the shaking is… liver fluke 🤔… there’s something it indicates rather than being cold. My mums a hedgehog person😬
I get through oodles of bags of hedgehog food in my feeding hut every year. Unfortunately about 4 weeks ago we found a young hoggie in same state all wobbles and hardly moving the closest rescue we had was RSPCA about half hour away by car which we took it to and we still waiting to hear if it passed on or we can collect it 😕

Aaaah - Richards van has returned! Might be nice for it to be moved before Hay making. Hedgehog populations have increased, and doubled, in areas where there have been Badger culls.
Apart from cars, badgers are the hedgehogs worse enemy. Brian May would disagree with me, but it’s true.

How weird is that you finding a hedgehog in no you are on a farm but if found one in. A street running around so i picked him up and put him in the long grass here he or she was lurking
Haven't seen a hedgehog in years , used to see them regular every year and even have nests in the garden with babies, and sadly on the road's but no more, something has wiped them out be it chemicals or predators, its a real mystery, and they used to keep the slug population in check too , but that is out of control now , a slugdemic , its such a sad shame, where have they all gone ...
Badgers have absolutely decimated the hedgehog 🦔 population in parts of the country, followed by disease, parasites and of course cars.
