This is an incredible reading! The editing and sound design is superb. Makes me think of boogiepop phantom or even lain in terms of vibe. Obviously Toby has such a unique voice when it comes to storytelling that just makes my brain dance. I’m only half way through… and I don’t want it to end. The internet is truly his medium.
I remember seeing what I now believe was concept art for this project. when I found out this came out i lost my marbles. I already have notes and theories. absolutely obsessed. you portrayed the story so well through your reading. I really enjoyed it! :D
I really appreciate it! Thank you so much! I’ve always wanted to bring a story to life and I’m really glad I was able to accomplish that… it makes me really excited for the future.
Good work. Thanks for introducing me to this (I did read it before coming back to watch your adaptation). 3D Workers Island is such an intriguing thing to adapt like this. You choose the rate of the island image sections. Like stop motion. And what text to say and what text to leave unsaid. There is so much text, of course. And what tone to give the characters. For most of this your narration is earnest and calm. I think that is the way to put it. It works great! Thanks again.
Yeah! It was a really interesting thing to work on. I had to balance between my interpretation of the stories events (which are admittedly loose because of the inherent mystery and vagueness of everything going on) and keeping it as neutral as I possibly could while still having a bit of my own personal flare. This is one of those readings where you're going to need the visuals to truly appreciate it. There's a lot of details you'd miss otherwise. You can't really enjoy 3D Workers Island without the visuals, there's a lot of visual storytelling so you can't really do a purely audio adaptation. I did feel bad leaving a few things out, but I figured those who were really interested in those bits would pause and read them. Playing with the island image sections was a whole lot of fun. I seriously love those sections and I especially liked dictating how they transition from the story bits. The way this story is told is fragmented in a way that is incredibly fun to edit. I'm incredibly happy this worked for you! There may be more readings in the future with their own stylistic flares. I just need to figure out what else I'd want to read.
Thank you so much! Your Petscop AMVs are incredible inspirations to me. Amazing song choices and really excellent visual storytelling, I also really like your interpretation of the story (as much as I could gather anyway). You also introduced me to a lot of music so that is really cool too.
@@mysticete248 I’ve honestly wanted to do a reading of Good Sky too due to the connection between the two stories because they share the same skin condition. Or maybe make a video where I just talk about my personal observations about this story. It really means a lot! Thank you!
This was great, love the ambience in particular. I had never heard of Bull of Heaven, thanks for turning me on to it! What's the name of the track playing halfway into the video?
If you’re talking about what’s playing during the instant messenger portion, I forgot to mention in the description. 😅 That’s my bad. But the source is from Illbleed, a campy Dreamcast horror game that I adore. The track is called ER. As for BoH tracks used, I believe I used 103, 004, 132 and 206.
My guess is that it's a story about the horror of being real, in a certain sense. In "Petscop", Amber was the character who locked herself in a cage to shelter from the world around her. In "3DWI", Amber's "transformation into a human body is interpreted as an act of violence in and of itself". Pat, Joe and Rebecca apparently pin down Amber as she forcibly transforms into a real human being and screams in pain. Any Amber that cannot become real gets transformed into a red ball and discarded into the ocean. Perhaps the author is saying something about destructive norms and perceptions of what a person should be, like, if Amber cannot become a "real woman" then she is seen as worthless ball of nothing and discarded.
You perform so well as this is your first try! I'm wondering if I could have your permission to translate it into Chinese and repost it? I really want to share 3dwi.scr to my friends and I lack a way to properly translate it. Of course, I'll give you full credit and link back to your original video!
I give you full permission!! Absolutely! That would be awesome! Thank you as well, it means a lot to hear. Reading was always something I was wanting to get into but I was never sure about it. I’m really glad to know people have been enjoying the reading!
Would you like me to do more dramatic reading videos in the future? Leave a reply if so! Your input means a lot to me.

I really should watch Lain, it looks really good. I appreciate the comment!

You should watch 'Good Sky' also by Tony, so that you can understand even less!
