I was a student of his the last two years he taught and he was one of the best people whom I have ever met. I often think about him even to this day. Rest In Peace, Randy, you are still missed.

RIP Randy. 15 years later I came across your lecture in my psychology textbook and watched this video. You really lived and inspired many with your perception of life and time management. Life is a beautiful life and death is a painful truth, RIP Randy. Many unborn generations will continue to take inspiration from this lecture

Need to do something about below lessons by Randy Pausch!
    1. Goals, Priorities, and Planning:
    - "Why am I doing this? What is the goal?
    Why will I succeed?
What happens if I chose not to do it?
Doing things right vs. doing the right things
100 things to do in my life"
    2. Covey’s four-quadrant TODO:
    - do tasks in the order of (1) important & due soon (2) important & not due soon (3) due soon & not important (4) not due soon & not important
    3. Planning:
"Failing to plan is planning to fail
Plan Each Day, Each Week, Each Semester
You can always change your plan, but only once you have one!"
    4. Avoiding Procrastination
    - "Doing things at the last minute is much more expensive than just before the last minute
Deadlines are really important: establish them yourself!"
    5. Inspiration:
    - “If you can dream it, you can do it” -- Walt Disney

This was the best time spent on youtube ever. I stayed up late watching this video but I surely learned a lot. Professor Randy Pausch was amazing. His last line "Time is all we have, and you may find one day, you have less than you think" brought me to tears. Thank you!

Actually, there were four books recommended in the lecture:
    One Minute Manger - Blanchard
7 Habits of Highly effective people - Covey
Time Management for Teachers, Cathy Collins, 1987
Career Track Seminar: Taking control of Your Work Day 1990

Here is another tip I heard from a friend. The 2 min rule! If there is something you can finish in 2 mins, do it RIGHT NOW! For e.g: taking an appointment, responding to an email, making a bill payment online, registering for a class online etc.

I watch this talk every year-so much wisdom, a beautiful expression of humanity, and with a clear sense of why we do anything. When he describes his creative time as 10pm - midnight, he says, "it's like this creative burst right before the end." There is so much in the pause that follows. I feel, in that moment and in this talk, that I am witnessing a human in the midst of pure awareness and experience. Fully alive

Great lecture and very good advice. As far as your cancer...Every day look into the mirror as you shave and tell yourself "not today". Cancer will not take me today. I survived 3rd stage breast cancer in 1986. I am still here. I still have that little talk with myself each and every day. It's not the only thing you need to do because you need to follow your doctor's orders. Appreciate everything every day and give as much love to as many people as you can give. It's a process and how you go through this process is up to you. You have much to offer and it would be a terrible loss if you did not join the survivor club. Survivors help others survive. Pay it forward.

The time spent was warmed me in the human nature of his approach, the stories were to inspire, the ideas were clear, the laughs were genuine. My take away is there is time we use in life that we should reflect on, to decide what is important to ourselves. With this new found information make the changes that provide the happiness we seek. With this question is sitting watching the sun rise for it's beauty, is that a waste of time, I think not as it is a time of reflection and just as Randy Pausch's lecture

If people are implying that they’re wasting their time watching this lecture instead of doing something that’s due tomorrow, they didn’t really listen to the lecture. One of the main points of the lecture was to say that things that aren’t due sometimes take priority over things that are due if they’re important.

Time management is one of the most important issues college students face in today’s day in age. A study conducted by MTV found that 60% of college students feel so overwhelmed by their many responsibilities that they feel like they can not get all of their work done. The main strategies that should be emphasized and taught to students should be the need to form a schedule, prioritize work correctly, maintain physical health, and reflect on their effort when attempting to manage their time. With these focal points, students will be better equipped to handle stress and perform well in the academic world.
