Thank you for this video. I DO have a horse that I am sure has been severely traumatized and developed PTSD. I've had him for 5 yrs. I have focused on "kind but firm" with him, firm only means shaking a hand at him and scolding him when he gets in his attack mode. You can see his eyes & posture change when he come back to the present. He's so over-reactive & fearful, but he also seems to want to do the right thing, simple things get beyond his ability to cope.

Aww. I want this someday. I want my own herd who all get along and are happy and they all help me with stuff and want to work with me. I looking too far ahead though. Right now I have to focus on Shiloh.

When you say 98% of domesticated horses are abused or traumatized do you mean 98% have ptsd? Or is there trauma that’s just slight and can be easily overcome and helped. Does that make sense? I don’t know how to ask that question.

Hi Sarah! Great question! I purposely use the word "traumatized" because not all traumatized horses have PTSD. Trauma varies and is subject to that specific horse - their nature and experiences. Some trauma can be fixed easily and some lasts forever but gets better in time. It's just like us. Horses carry memories forever, they don't forget a thing.
